Plantar fasciitis (HEEL Pain)

Master Of Surgery, DNB (Orthopedics)
Orthopedist, Agra
Plantar fasciitis (HEEL Pain)

Plantar fasciitis is one of the most common causes of heel pain. The plantar fascia, that runs across the bottom of foot and connects heel bone to your toes gets inflamed.
Plantar fasciitis commonly causes stabbing pain that usually occurs with your very first steps in the morning. The pain of plantar fasciitis normally decreases after taking few steps, but it may return after long periods of standing or after getting up from a seated position.
Plantar fasciitis is particularly common in runners. In addition, people who are overweight and those who wear shoes with inadequate support are at risk of plantar fasciitis.
Under normal circumstances, plantar fascia acts like a shock-absorbing bowstring, supporting the arch in foot. If tension on that bowstring becomes too great, it can create small tears in the fascia. Repetitive stretching and tearing can cause the fascia to become irritated or inflamed.
Factors that may increase your risk of developing plantar fasciitis include:
•    age.
•    certain types of exercise.
•    faulty foot mechanics.
•    obesity
•    occupations that keep you on your feet
Ignoring plantar fasciitis may result in chronic heel pain that hinders regular activities. Change in the way of walking to minimize plantar fasciitis pain, develops foot, knee, hip or back problems.
What to expect from your doctor
•    do your symptoms tend to occur at a particular time of day?
•    what types of shoes do you usually wear?
•    are you a runner, or do you participate in any sports that involve running?
•    do you have a physically demanding job?
•    have you experienced any injuries to your feet in the past?
•    besides your foot, do you feel pain anywhere else?
•    what, if anything, seems to improve your symptoms?
•    what, if anything, appears to worsen your symptoms?
During the physical exam, your doctor checks for points of tenderness in your foot. The location of your pain can help determine its cause.
Imaging tests
No test
X-ray
Mri
Ct scan
Sometimes an x-ray shows a spur of bone projecting forward from the heel bone. In the past, these bone spurs were often blamed for heel pain and removed surgically. But many people who have bone spurs on their heels have no heel pain.
Medications
Pain drugs
Therapies
Stretching and strengthening exercises or use of specialized devices may provide symptom relief. These include:
•    physical therapy.
•    night splints.
•    orthotics.
•    surgical or other procedures
When more-conservative measures aren't working,
Steroid shots.
Extracorporeal shock wave therapy.
Surgery
To reduce the pain of plantar fasciitis, try these self-care tips:
•    maintain a healthy weight.
•    choose supportive shoes.
•    don't wear worn-out athletic shoes.
•    change your sport.
•    apply ice.
•    stretch your arches

Please do a cold fermentation water treatment immediately after you have run. You could slow down on your km for a week and then observe whether the pain is there or not. Next start on a few resisted exercises after a weeks time. Then you could build up your strength by taking good protein rich diet for 1 month. Most importantly taking good rest is also important in runners.

I have problem in my right hand, when I have through any kind of goods like cricket ball, that time my arm is paining. please help me to overcome this problem.

I have problem in my right hand, when I have through any kind of goods like cricket ball, that time my arm is paining...
Pain in the arm can result from a number of factors. Abnormalities or injury of the skin, nerves, bones, joints, blood vessels, and soft tissues of the arm can all result in pain. Arm pain may be the result of referred pain from another part of the body. Please go to a physiotherapist to assess and treat the underlying condition. If pain is caused by an activity, modify or stop the activity. Rest the arm and resume activity gradually. Monitor the response to the activity. Pain experienced in the right arm is usually not serious, but when it is coupled with other symptoms like pain in the leg or tightness of the chest, it may be more serious. Try some home remedies: ice will reduce pain and swelling. Apply ice or cold packs immediately to prevent or minimize swelling. Apply the ice or cold pack for 10 to 20 minutes, 3 or more times a day. Elevate the painful area on pillows while applying ice and anytime you are sitting or lying down. Try to keep the area at or above the level of your heart to help minimize swelling. Apply heat and begin gentle exercise with the aid of moist heat to help restore and maintain flexibility. Some experts recommend alternating between heat and cold treatments. Gently massage or rub the area to relieve pain and encourage blood flow. Do not massage the area if it causes pain. Do not smoke or use other tobacco products. Smoking slows healing because it decreases blood supply and delays tissue repair. Please consult a physiotherapist for detail assessment and management of your arm pain. Best wishes.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Dolo is actually paracetamol, so it is quite a safe medicine if taken in prescribed dosages and especially your liver function should be ok, so get it checked before regularly taking it. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards
