I am 64 year old female. My upper teeth have been extracted before 2 years. Now I want to get the teeth implant done. Could you please tell me if it is possible and what is the procedure of the same?

Dental Clinic
Dentist, Gurgaon
I am 64 year old female. My upper teeth have been extracted before 2 years. Now I want to get the teeth implant done....
Yes it is possible. Success of the implant depends upon the overall health and condition of the bone. The time frame for completing the implant and crown depends on many factors. When the traditional method of placing an implant is used, the shortest time frame for a complete implant is about five months in the lower jaw and six months in the upper jaw. This includes surgeries and placing the permanent crown. However, the process can last a year or more, particularly if bone needs to be built up first. In another technique, implants and healing caps are placed at the same time. If the dentist is using mini implants, he or she will place them as well as the crown, bridge or denture at the same visit. In the traditional method, two procedures are required, with three to six months between them. During the first procedure, a small incision is made in the gum where the implant will be placed. A hole is drilled in the bone, the implant is placed into the hole in the bone, and the incision is stitched closed. At the end of the healing period, a second procedure takes place. It involves making a new incision to expose the implant. A collar, called a healing cap, is screwed onto the top of the implant. It helps the surrounding gum tissue to heal. After a few weeks, the healing cap is removed. The abutment is screwed into the implant and used to support the crown.

Ulcers on back side of tongue, kindly mention since how long you have that ulcer and how big is that ulcer. Do not take any medication without showing a dentist or oral medicine specialist. I understood you have taken medicine, do not worry about cream you have used. Stop using that cream and consult your dentist.

Hi lybrate-user. It is important to confirm if your tooth is milk teeth or permanent teeth. If its permanent teeth (if it can be saved) thrn its better we save it. If it's milk teeth then removal followed by a tooth replacement is a best option. Consult a dentist.

Orthodontic treatment is a long term treatment and in colleges, you can never be sure that the same dentist is going to treat you for the entire duration of treatment. Select a good orthodontist of repute and go with it.

I have a teeth problem, 5 years ago I had lost my tooth, there will be any problem in future? I am with out tooth now.

I have a teeth problem, 5 years ago I had lost my tooth, there will be any problem in future? I am with out tooth now.
Sir as soon as possible you should replace your missing tooth. Well but the reason behind is if you don't replace your tooth and leave the gap as it is, the adjacent tooth will start moving towards the open space and also the tooth above the blank space. This will loosen those teeth and gradually they will fall. So don't make this mistake and undergo the treatment.

Our teeth should only be used for chewing purposes. Using them for performing other activities such as cracking nuts, removing bottle tops or ripping open packaging can cause chipped or broken teeth.

I took treatment for gingivitis. Is there a way to stimulate the gum growth. My problem solved but gum level still low.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening & advancement procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I had a filling done in the second pre-molar of the left upper jaw 4 years ago. Just after a year I started to have a sudden severe pain in the tooth. I visited dentist and found theres a cavity in the same tooth. Dentist told me to go for crowning rather than filling again. I ignored that time. Now the filling is gone. And I suffer from gigintivitis nd bad breath due to that tooth. I want to end this up. Should I go for crowning or should I uproot it. What if it caused problem even after crowning. By the way my age is 23. And I smoke regularly.

Hello lybrate-user, sorry to hear that uve been suffering for few years already well the filling which was done is now come off. Your dentist was right in saying there's a decay underneath. This happens in few cases. But what's disturbing is the pain which you had. Just by your words it suggests that could the nerve of the tooth got affected. Visit your dentist asap. He might suggest you for a xray and maybe a root treatment of the tooth if he thinks it's needed and if the decay is deep enough. And further putting a crown only if the destruction has progressed severe. I hope I clarified your question good luck and god bless
