Pls visit a nearby gynaecologist at the earliest. She will need surgical abortion medical abortion is usually unsafe after 9 weeks. Pls do not waste more time. After 3 months (12 weeks) complications in abortion are more.

Hello, Thanks for the query Since you have hypothyroidism it is necessary to see that it is well controlled with TSh <3 mU/L. Sometimes uncontrolled hypothyroidism does lead tp lack of desire. Therefore, please check TSH and if it above the mentioned level, bring it down to above mentioned level. There are other modes of treatment which can be considered later, which include certain hormone treatment. Thanks.

Syphilis: Can This Sexually Transmitted Disease be Cured?

MBBS, PGDUS, Fellowship In Aesthetic Medicine, Advance Course In Diabetes - USA, MD - Medicine

Syphilis: Can This Sexually Transmitted Disease be Cured?

Syphilis is a contagious disease that is sexually transmitted through oral or anal sex. The disease can even be passed from one person to another through kissing for a long time or through physical contact. A pregnant woman is at a high risk of passing the disease to her newborn which can cause abnormalities and even death of the baby. It is caused by the bacteria treponema pallidum.

Symptoms of syphilis

  1. Primary stage: the symptoms of syphilis are visible within three weeks which appears as a single and painless sore on the penis or inside vagina and rectum.
  2. Secondary stage: in the secondary stage, the symptoms manifest themselves as red or brown spots visible on soles of feet or palms of hand. They can be accompanied by fever, headache, swollen glands, fatigue and hair loss in patches.
  3. Latent stage: in this stage, a person has no symptoms but the infection is still present in the body.
  4. Late stage: this stage occurs 10-20 years after a person had first contracted syphilis. In this stage, the organs are severely damaged, including heart, brain and nervous system. It can cause paralysis or even death.

Can this condition be cured?

With a single dose of the antibiotic penicillin, syphilis is easily curable in its early stage. If the condition persists for over a year, additional doses might be required. It should be treated early to prevent further complications. There are other options for patients who are allergic to penicillin. Until the sore or rash heals completely, after the treatment of syphilis, you should abstain from having sex. If syphilis is left untreated, some severe and permanent damage can be triggered by it, including blindness, dementia or even death.

No heat is normal during pregnancy. No herbal treatment should be done. Drink more water and juicy fruits.

Hi. Local irritation, itching, burning, white or curdy discharge etc esp following intercourse is indicative of bacterial and /or fungal infections. Please have both yourselves screened for HIV, VDRL, vaginal swab culture and urine culture before getting advice on antibiotics. Local hygiene is very important for both of you to prevent repeated infection and to conceive. Best wishes.

I am married female of 38 years old. I already have 12 Year son. I did my pregnancy test and sonography yesterday, it shows twin type sac formation of sac size 1.2 cm. It is only 5.5 weeks pregnancy as my last period came on 18 December 2017. If I want to terminate my pregnancy, Since the sac size is bigger do you advise me to take oral tablets as given by gynecologist or go ahead proper abortion procedure.

DGO, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Surat
Yes, if you have decided to abort and if you had vaginal delivery at your son's birth, medically induced abortion will work for you. But this option will demand continuous follow up & confirmation of completeness of process of abortion with transvaginal USG. But if his birth was by c.s.,I personally opine: better you to go for surgical abortion (vaccuum suction under anaesthesia).
