My baby is 2 and half month old. Weight is 4.5 kg. At birth his weight was 2.370. He was breastfeed. Should I need to wake him up at night for feed while he was sleeping or let him sleep until he wake up. In day time I feed him every 2-3 hours 70-100 ml. Is it the right amount or I need to increase?

That a good weight gain for your baby. Your breastfeed for every 2-3 hours is adequate. Do not wake your baby at night as sleep is equally important. It is better to feed only when the baby is in fully conscious state. Hence do not disturb the sleep. Most babies eventually cry or wakeup at night time when there stomach is empty and they sleep all day. But if in your case, baby is drinking all day and having sound sleep at niight, then thats not to be worried. You must consume minimum 3 glasses of milk per day and consume food for every 2-3 hrs. Along with your regular meals, include a fist of boiled peanuts or walnuts everyday or roasted gingely seeds in its laddu form or chutney form.

Please include fibre in her diet give her more of daliya khichdi fruits and vegetables do not give thick Dals or anything made of Maida. She may be lactose intolerant you should stop cow milk and instead give curd and chaas. Also give her formula milk which is lactose free and then see. Make sure she does a lot of activities too.

Hi sir. My son has 6 year old but still he is doing toilet in bed. Pls. Suggest what we do.

Pediatrician, Mumbai
Toilet meaning urine or stool? if urine then you can get a urine routine done to rule out infection. If reports normal then you can wait for some few months before starting therapy. If stool the you need to consult a pediatrician.

Child Healthcare Tips

M.D Homoeopathy ( Practice of Medicine ), BHMS
Homeopath, Nashik

Good health is the greatest and most valuable gift we can give to our kids.  Being equipped with the knowledge and understanding of proper child healthcare will decrease your trips to the doctor and enhance your baby’s health.

1. Hunger over desire

Ensuring your child is well fed is more important than giving into food desires. Children will always want food that is unhealthy. As parents you get to decide what they eat and in what quantity. Stocking healthy food and cutting down or completely removing unhealthy options is all in your hands. A well balanced and healthy diet is the very first thing you need for your child’s health.

2. Decision makers

You don’t need to be a complete control freak when it comes to eating habits. Present a variety of healthy options and allow your children to pick and choose what they want to eat. This goes for meals as well as snacks.

3. An active lifestyle

More and more children can be seen glued to TV’s and other gadgets. As a parent you need to monitor the time they spend on sedentary activities and encourage more physical activity. Children need to run around and play out in the open instead of staring at a screen all day long. This benefits physical, mental and emotional development of the child.

4. Kids follow what they see around them! You need to set the right expectations and be a role model by following routines and healthy practices for your child to mirror your activities.

5. Positive Environment

Creating a positive environment for your children is a necessity. Children who have positivity around them grow to be more stable and emotionally strong individuals. Stress can reduce disease fighting activities in the body which increases the chances of your child becoming ill.

6. Cleaning Habits

Make your child understand the need to be clean and wash hands before eating and after any outdoor activity. This will help avoid common health issues and boost immunity. Use soap and water whenever possible rather than wipes or hand wash.

7. Exercise

Instead of lecturing or forcing your kid into exercising, make it the most fun part of the day. Cycling, swimming, running or whatever the kid enjoys.

Do I wash my nipples, when I use nip Care cream before breast feeding? Pls answer soon.

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine & Surgery (BAMS)

Hello, Yes you should. Any moisturising cream contains harmful chemical ingredients which are only for external use and can cause health hazards specially in case of new born if ingested in excess.

Give fruits and veggies in such form which he enjoys. There are substitutes but it doesn't provide essential nutrition like fruits nuts, sprouts gives.
