Rhinoplasty - What You Should Know About It!

Rhinoplasty - What You Should Know About It!

We humans are obsessed with the way we look. This is despite the fact that we can only see what the mirror (or our pictures) shows and nobody can actually see their own faces. The nose is one part that very few are happy with. It is either too short, long, round, sharp, whatnot. To add to that, science has come up with the size and shape that can make one look beautiful. There are surgeries that can shape it up, so you can walk with your nose held high!!

Rhino, stands for nose, and plasty is for surgery. Rhinoplasty is a surgical procedure which is useful in correcting the shape and size of the nose. Earlier done as a treatment for people with chronic nasal congestion and blocks, it has gained popularity as a cosmetic procedure in the recent decades.

Why rhinoplasty:

As noted, rhinoplasty could be done for cosmetic and therapeutic reasons, some of them being:

  1. Nose completely out of proportion with the facial size
  2. Misshapen tip of the nose, which could be drooping, hooked, or bulbous
  3. Nostrils not in proper position or misshapen
  4. Asymmetrical nostrils
  5. Nasal bridge having lumps or bumps
  6. Externally visible deviation of the nasal septum, causing both cosmetic and breathing issues

During the surgical reshaping, cartilage may be added or removed to achieve the desired shape.

What to expect before the procedure?

Getting yourself in the right hands. Think about it, in the wrong hands, this surgery can have very serious effects, not just functionally but also cosmetically. You could then end up wishing that you were better off with the previous, misshapen nose. After the surgery, you will notice a different you in the mirror, as the nose has a telling effect on a person’s appearance.

At the time of surgery:

Depending on the extent of surgery, local or general anesthesia is used. General is preferred though. With a local anesthesia, you will be aware of the sights and sounds of the surgery.

Post the procedure:

Once the procedure is over, gradually expect the following.

  • A puffy face, as the tissue around the eyes and the nose will be considerably swollen
  • The nose will be covered with a splint for at least a week. This allows the bones and cartilage to settle down in their new position.
  • Use a cold compresses to help in pain control and reduce swelling
  • Take the entire course of antibiotics and pain killers
  • Sleep with the head of the bed elevated for the first one week postoperatively

Rhinoplasty is definitely a choice to improve appearance and self-esteem; the key is to place yourselves in safe hands. In case you have a concern or query you can always consult an expert & get answers to your questions!

What is the causes of hair fall and how it is control and what are the causes of typhoid? Please help me.
Causes:: Genetic factors, family history, overall aging process, normal life variations including temporary severe stress, illness, nutritional changes, hormonal changes like those in pregnancy, puberty, and menopause may cause a reversible hair loss. 1. Chop some onions (pyaz) into fine pieces and squeeze out the juice. Apply this to hair and scalp and leave it for 15 minutes. Rinse it with shampoo. 2. Crush a few cloves of garlic (lehsun), add in a little coconut oil and boil for a few minutes. Cool it till it becomes warm and apply it on the scalp with a little massaging action. Repeat two to three times a week for best results. 3. Take coconut milk and add a little water to it. Apply this to the scalp and allow it to stay overnight. Rinse this the next morning. 4. Add two teaspoons of amla juice/ powder and mix with equal quantity of freshly squeezed lime juice. Mix well, apply to the scalp and leave it to dry; then rinse using warm water. 5. Take some flowers of rose (gulab) add some water to it and make a paste. Apply it on hair and keep it for an hour and then wash the hair.

It's been two months since I have joined gym and I have lost only 3 kgs. I am also following a diet but I don't understand what is going wrong. I need a better diet plan so that I can lose weight fast since I have been working out a minimum of 2 hours at the gym, still the results are not quite satisfying. I don't eat any processed food or junk food. Only salad and dal for dinner. And 1 chapati with vegetable for lunch. Plus I keep eating a fruit or some nuts every 2-3 hours. Please help me with my diet plan.

Firstly you have lost 3 Kgs through proper exercise and diet, that itself is appreciable. At this rate you can lose 18 Kgs in one year. So my advice will be 1. Be patient and be consistent 2. Slow and steady wins the race in weight loss 3. You must take a roti in dinner also else you are missing out on essential carbohydrates 4. Two hours of Gym is good, but in that spend at least 60 minutes on intense cardio for maximum weight loss 5. You can count and monitor your daily calories through myfitnesspal App. This will give you a clear picture of what is going wrong in your approach if any. 6. All the best

Me and my partner were together. He had his boxers on but I was naked in bed. He was on top of me. I just felt his penis near my vagina for a few seconds but he did not ejaculate. But there was a drop or two of pre ejaculate on his penis. My period got over just 3 days ago. There was no ejaculation and we didn't have sexual intercourse I could just feel it for a second. Is there any reason to be worried for pregnancy?

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Hello Lybrate User As you both have didn't make intercourse and there is no penetration of penis. So that there is no chance for pregnancy by this act. Delayed menses is most probable by reason of tension of pregnancy. Be relax, wait and watch. There is nothing to do. Have a nice Day!

A gluten-free diet is a diet that excludes the protein gluten. Gluten is found in grains such as wheat, barley, rye, and a cross between wheat and rye called triticale. A gluten-free diet is primarily used to treat celiac disease. Gluten causes inflammation in the small intestines of people with celiac disease. Eating a gluten-free diet helps people with celiac disease control their signs and symptoms and prevent complications. Allowed foods Many healthy and delicious foods are naturally gluten-free: Beans, seeds and nuts in their natural, unprocessed form Fresh eggs Fresh meats, fish and poultry (not breaded, batter-coated or marinated) Fruits and vegetables Most dairy products It's important to make sure that they are not processed or mixed with gluten-containing grains, additives or preservatives. Many grains and starches can be part of a gluten-free diet, such as: Amaranth Arrowroot Buckwheat Corn and cornmeal Flax Gluten-free flours (rice, soy, corn, potato, bean) Hominy (corn) Millet Quinoa Rice Sorghum Soy Tapioca Teff Always avoid Avoid all food and drinks containing: Barley (malt, malt flavoring and malt vinegar are usually made from barley) Rye Triticale (a cross between wheat and rye) Wheat Avoiding wheat can be challenging because wheat products go by numerous names. Consider the many types of wheat flour on supermarket shelves — bromated, enriched, phosphated, plain and self-rising. Here are other wheat products to avoid: Durum flour Farina Graham flour Kamut Semolina Spelt Avoid unless labeled'gluten-free' In general, avoid the following foods unless they're labeled as gluten-free or made with corn, rice, soy or other gluten-free grain: Beer Breads Cakes and pies Candies Cereals Communion wafers Cookies and crackers Croutons French fries Gravies Imitation meat or seafood Matzo Pastas Processed luncheon meats Salad dressings Sauces, including soy sauce Seasoned rice mixes Seasoned snack foods, such as potato and tortilla chips Self-basting poultry Soups and soup bases Vegetables in sauce.
