Greetings Doctors, My "Glucose Fasting (Method: Hexokinase)" is 82 mg/dl, while the reference value is [70-110] mg/dl. This means that my blood sugar is normal. BUT everyday I go to toilet for urination for 10+ times and the quantity of urine is not less. Could you please tell me what's going on?

Mr. lybrate-user, Thanks for the query. Please also check after food glucose level (2 hours after breakfast or lunch) plus HbA1c%, these values will tell exactly if there is diabetes present or not. Later we can consider if there are any other reasons for more frequency. Thanks.

whenever I eat spicy food or masala rich food. Just after having it i got cough. It happens always in case of spicy food and remains only for 30 second or 1 minute. What is the explanation for this. Is it OK or not?

Dear lybrate-user if you know that you are allergic to spicy food and after eating it you suffer from cough then you should atop eating it or reduce the amount. This is happening because your body is not accustomed to these extremes and has an immune response that tries to expel that food, thus, cough after eating. Eat slowly.(chew and slowly swallow the food) avoid particular food. Keep the throat moist (sometime dry throat create cough). Stick to healthy diet. If only coughing is the complaint then do this and if any other associated complaints then tell me.

Hernia Surgery: Quick Recovery Tips!

Recovery from a hernia after the surgery will need a time of approximately 2-3 weeks. The time for recovery also depends upon the surgery performed. An open surgery performed through a large incision across the region of a hernia will require a longer hospital stay and a longer time for recovery, whereas, in contrast, a laparoscopic surgery performed with 2-3 small incisions will heal faster and will need a shorter hospitalization.

The recovery process can be speeded up by taking appropriate care, and recovery tips for it are as follows:

  1. Medication should regularly be taken as recommended by the doctor to lessen the symptoms of the surgery.
  2. Wound care should be taken properly.
  3. Dressings should be kept clean and dry, and they need to be changed very frequently in order to avoid the infection.
  4. A persistent cough and sneezing need to be treated with the proper medication.
  5. Keep a pillow nearby.
  6. Every time while coughing and sneezing hold the pillow over the suture in order to prevent pressure on the sutures. 
  7. Use an abdominal binder of a proper size. It supports the abdominal muscle and maintains abdominal pressure.
  8. Use clothing which is expandable and has elastic waistbands whenever there is swelling.
  9. Swelling over the incision is a common complication after the surgery. Thus, the incision area should not be closed tightly by wearing tight clothing.
  10. Wearing expandable cloths will give more comfort and will not cause pain due to pressure. Take a stool softener before and after surgery.
  11. Constipation should be treated before the surgery and should be avoided after the surgery by using stool softeners.
  12. Straining for the stools will create pressure over the incision and hernia repair site and will delay the recovery.
  13. Eat healthy food. The food should be fiber-rich as it will help to improve the bowel movements, and it will avoid the risk of constipation.
  14. Drink plenty of water to avoid constipation and improve the bowel movement.
  15. Do not bend to pick up the things or maintain personal hygiene, i.e., cutting toenails as it will create pressure on the sutures and it may break open.
  16. Avoid lifting of any objects as it will create pressure on sutures and will increase the risk of rupture. After a certain period of time, lift only light items (less than 20 pounds), and always use back muscles and knees.
  17. Do moderate exercises, such as walking, as it will speed up the recovery. Do not start with heavy exercises.
  18. Smoking should be avoided after the surgery as it will improve breathing and blood circulation, which will help in the healing process.

The average size of the erect/aroused penis ranges from 3.2 inches to 6.5 inches, but even lower sizes don't make a difference to the ability to have sex, please one's partner or have children. The aroused female vagina only extends between 3 to 4 inches, and even here, the most sensitive parts are towards the outside. Girth is a little more important, but most important is how you use it. So please focus on the person you are with and make sure your partner enjoys the experience - there is really nothing more important than that in sex. Anyone who tells you that size is important doesn't really know what he is talking about. The only way to increase penis size or girth (thickness) is through surgery, but this is painful and risky. Your sperms motility is nil. The reasons for nil motility is stress, faulty dietary habits or anti sperms antibodies. Yes, nil motility is curable. I advise you to take proper balanced vegetarian diet. Take fruits and vegetables in daily diet. Take lots of water daily. Do meditation for mental strength. Follow this and give feedback.

Dear lybrate user, a single sperm cell takes about 4 months to mature fully before it is being ejaculated. So I would request to continue the following medication for at least 6 months:- 1) add 5 drops of each of homoeopathic selenium 1m + homoeopathic aurum met 1m + homoeopathic zincum met 1m in a glass of water & drink it early morning before brushing your teeth daily. Again prepare the same mixture & drink it before bathing.
