More about Dr. Sheikh Mohammad Taha Mustafa
I am a trained Colorectal surgeon. I was trained in Colorectal surgery in Illinois, USA. I manage all disease of colon, rectum and anus as per international standards. There is no compromise on quality. I believe patients in India deserve as much quality health care as anywhere else in the world. My philosophy is to listen compassionately to the patient and treat him as a human being with disease and not just as an object with disease. I adhere to the latest recommendations when managing colorectal diseases. I give enough choices to the patient and help him/her in making the best decision for themselves.

I had anal fissure surgery 4 months back my doctor cut internal sphincter I want to know only one thing that can I get my internal sphincter strength back or not.(because im unable to squeeze my internal anal) please tell me and internal sphincter which is cut can it reforms again or not.

MBBS, MS - General Surgery
Proctologist, Delhi
Sphincter once cut does not rejoin unless the surgeon stitches it back. If you have problems controlling your gas or liquid stools then try anal squeeze exercises. Just tighten your anus as if you are trying to control a bowel movement. If you are leaking stools or gas then consult a nearby colorectal surgeon.

Once my stool was semi solid for 2 months and I consult a M.D doctor who prescribed 4 antibiotics. By taking those antibiotics just two days my stool became very hard and I got anal fissures so I stop those medicine. Now my normal stool is soft but if I take any antibiotic then my stool becomes hard. What is the cause of getting hard stool if I take any antibiotic?

MBBS, MS - General Surgery
Proctologist, Delhi
Dear lybrate-user Most of the patients get loose stools after taking antibiotics. But very few can get hard ones. Take plenty of fibre and green leafy vegetables. If you have developed anal fissure then you need to visit a Colorectal surgeon or a general surgeon nearby.

Take plenty of fruits and green leafy vegetables. Visit your surgeon who operated you. You need anal examination also.
