Dear Doctor, Since last one week frequently my right hand and small and ring fingers are also getting numbed slightly but not completely and I am feeling that for long time. One more thing is this happens to me after the very next day of night shift I usually attend at office (but I sleep at least 4 hrs though). And 'm really getting afraid so much. Is it any kind of serious? please help me out by suggesting something to cure it.

MBBS, MHS, MD - Neurology (USA), Fellowship in Epilepsy, Clinical Attachment in Movement disorders
Dear Doctor,
Since last one week frequently my right hand and small and ring fingers are also getting numbed slightly...
Probably is caused by compression of the c8 nerve in your neck. Usually this is caused by mild arthritis of the neck. Make sure you are not placing your body in a odd position in work e.g. Sleeping in a chair and make sure you are following proper ergonomic precautions. If your symptoms don't resolve then see a neurologist in person.

My sister suffered by migraine, she consulted many doctors even she tried art of living but still she not satisfied with problem.

Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda, Faridabad
Dear migraine is a autonomic nervous disorder which will take some time to cure, acc to ayurveda its the improper lifestyle and diet causing aggravation of pitta dosha in body. In an aggravated state, Pitta impairs digestion, leading to production of digestive impurities (known as ama). This ama gets stored in the manovahi strotas (mind channels), thereby becoming the cause for pains in migraine. follow the tips they will help and try shirodhara therapy it will help alot. 1.Mix ¼ teaspoon of clove powder with 1 teaspoon of cinnamon oil. Apply this paste on the affected area for 20-30 minutes. 2.Avoid hot, spicy foods, fermented foods, white sugar, white flour products, and sour or citrus fruits, because they aggravate the Pitta in your body. 3.Drink more water and eat more fiber, fruits and vegetables, and whole grains. 4.Avoid excessive sugar or salt, refined foods, animal products (meats and dairy), caffeine, tea, and alcohol, as these items will further lead to aggravation of Pitta. 5.Avoid direct exposure to the sun, as migraine headaches are predominantly a Pitta disorder and can be triggered by the hot sun. 6.Head massage with Bhringraj Oil is also beneficial. This massage gives a calming effect to your nervous system.

Hi, I am Dr Jeetu Mishra Physiotherapist and Chiropractor. I passed out in 2004 and being practicing in Delhi since 2005. My speciality is with the back, neck and spine. We usually see fitness people related with the sports injuries and we have been dealing that since 2006 onwards, I worked initially with team, team tennis and other sports. I myself have been a runner and a exercise enthusiast, we have clinic here in Arjun Nagar which is facing Defence Colony we provides services related to healing which involves cupping, massage, spinal adjustment and Physiotherapy treatments. We primarily focus on the back and the shoulder which are the most common injuries which sportsmen suffer. These days we see huge increase in the sports injuries due to the peer pressure on the people they tend to gain huge weight, they tend to lift huge weights during the exercise, they attend to injured themselves more often and then they turn up, usually they turn up late in the 30 or early 40’s. These days we see very often with the complaining of the back pain because of the sedentary lifestyle and there exercising habits. We tell them to lower down the weight, go easy on the exercise and tell them to go more on the stretches, when we find there have been tightness or the misalignment, imbalance in their back, we tried release them to my official release needling, cupping and the massage. We often use different other methods as well, we find the swelling persisting and we trying to do that by laser or electric therapy, ultrasound, long wave these are the gadgets we very often used in our treatment. We also work manually, we have team of doctors who work expertise for last 10 to 15 years got experience hands we can palpate the insufficiency, palpate the tightness, we can examine the limpness capacity usually seen a lot of tightness in the lower body and the upper body the function movements are restricted these days people tend to use more of the unnatural moments in the gyms. They tend to force themselves using those unnatural moments and then they get injured. Lack of mobility is the biggest cause of the injuries again what we see, we tend to tell them, to correct them and we trying heal them naturally. We don't believe in medication, we try in healing them naturally we are complete no-no for the medication. Until it is must for anyone and we asked them to follow their physician what kind of medication they have to take, we focus truly on the natural healing, we infact try to call ourselves as a healer, manual therapist, physiotherapist, physical therapist these are the things that we often call ourselves. 7 Lifestyle Changes To Cure Insomnia!

Sleep is the most essential part of our lives because it is the time when our body gets rejuvenated and recharged. However, due to numerous reasons, quite a few individuals fail to achieve proper sleep or any sleep at all. This condition in which a person is unable to sleep at night can be termed as insomnia.

Causes of insomnia
There can be varied reasons for different people that can cause insomnia.

  • Unhealthy lifestyle i.e. improper sleep cycle, improper food habits, untimely naps, substance abuse etc.
  • Medical conditions like sinus allergies, gastrointestinal problems, endocrine problems, arthritis, asthma, neurological condition like Parkinson’s disease, chronic back pain etc.
  • Psychological conditions like depression and anxiety
  • Certain medications aimed to cure other health problems

In case of the treatable medical reasons, insomnia is gone once the problem is treated. However, for people who have no idea as to why they suffer from insomnia, here are certain tips that can help in fighting it.

Lifestyle changes to cure insomnia
Starting with a significant lifestyle change can be a great way to change one’s sleep cycles and get a good night’s sleep.

  • Maintain a proper and healthy diet, with more fruits and vegetables and less carbs and fat.
  • Try to sleep and wake up at the same time everyday (despite the fact that you may not feel sleepy). This will train the body and regulate the body clock.
  • Avoid afternoon naps or any short naps during the day.
  • Exercise daily for at least 30 minutes.
  • Avoid caffeine as it has contains properties that keeps a person up for long hours.
  • Avoid intake of alcohol and nicotine. Although alcohol is associated with fun and partying, it is actually a depressant and causes improper sleep.
  • Avoid any meal right before bed time.

Tips that can help

  • Take a good, warm shower right before sleep.
  • Ask your partner to give you a nice massage before bedtime.
  • Restrict bed activities to sleep and sex only, nothing more.
  • Make a really comfortable and inviting sleep environment.
  • Try and get rid of all your worries before going to bed.
  • Reduce stress using a number of stress reduction therapies like meditation, deep breathing, progressive muscle relaxation techniques, etc.

Apart from the lifestyle changes and the tips that will help you gain a better sleep, there is another therapy, which may be useful. It is called the cognitive behavioural therapy. This therapy can give essential knowledge about sleep and help achieve normal sleep routines. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a psychiatrist.
