Hi Could you please tell me what does unwanted 72 I pill do and what are its side effect? What if a person had a sex and sperm went into vagina then after how much time I pill should be taken?

MBBS, DNB (Obstetrics and Gynecology), MNAMS, Training in USG
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Hi Unwanted 72 is high dose of hormones which do changes in endometrium so as to avoid pregnancy. But it should be used only in emergency as high hormone levels disrupts normal function if taken repeatedly. Otherwise no major side effect. It should be taken with in 72 hrs of unprotected intercourse.

My daughter promila is in the advanced stage of pregnancy. She has completed eight months. We are told food cord has circled twice on the neck of baby as a result we have to go through cesarean operation. Please suggest ways and means of this problem.

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
Hi lybrate-user. It depends on much risk you would like to take. Generally I give a period of trial to the patient and if during labour pains the baby s heartbeat falls we take up the patient for caesarean immediately.

Diploma in Obstetrics & Gynaecology, MBBS

No fluid seen in cul de sac is a good sign and it shows that there is no internal infection. Cysts are tiny and can be corrected with a short course of antibiotics. It also depend upon the time of ultrasound, next time go for the test just after cycle on 5th day. May be there will be no cyst. Normal echos means uniformity and no swellings or tumors. Take a course of novaclox 500 three times a day for 3 days along with metrogyl 200 mg twice daily after food for 3 days plus one tablet of bandy plus as deworming. Do write back with next report just after cycle.

How much toothpaste do we need for brushing???
1. What does the toothpaste do?

Toothpaste is an abrasive material which helps in mechanical action of toothbrush in removing plaque and debris from teeth and gums. Some medicated toothpastes are available which contain fluoride which helps in preventing tooth decay. Also toothpaste helps in removing bad breath and halitosis.
2. How much toothpaste do we need to brush our teeth?

For kids below 3 years of age just a “Smear” of toothpaste is needed.
For age above 3 years “Pea size” amount of tooth paste is enough.
3. Can we brush our teeth without toothpaste?

Major cleaning action is performed by toothbrush & toothpaste is only an adjunct to it. So, minimal amount of toothpaste is sufficient combined with a good brushing technique.

My Last cycle is on 6th June I started regestrone 5 mg on 21st June 3/Day for 3 days. As per My gums advice. My question is will my periods vl prepare or not? If nt what should I do?

Today morning, during the sex my condom burst, we came to know after completion. As she don't wanna pregnancy, we are going to buy unwanted 72. Kindly suggest is there any other best and trusted solution. Also what precaution we should take before and after taking the pill.

Unwanted-72 or i-pill are emergency contraceptive pills. The chances of failure to avoid pregnancy in a unwanted-72 pill / i-pill are about 13%. To be effective, the pill has to be taken preferably within 12 hours of the unprotected intercourse. But it must be taken within 72 hours, although if the pill is consumed later than 12 hours the failure rate in avoiding pregnancy is more. It should not be used regularly. Some minor side effects of this medicine are headache, dizziness, nausea and vomiting; sometimes changes in menstrual pattern are observed; these are temporary, unless one uses unwanted-72 quite often. If one has other existing disease of gut or liver or breast or heart, doctor? s consultation is necessary before taking this medicine. Lastly, if regular contraception is the aim, then other pills may be considered; the chances of failure of a regular contraceptive pill to avoid pregnancy are merely 0.001%. That of a copper-t is 1 to 2%. With condoms it is 3 to 6%. For these, consultation is advisable.
