Dear lybrate user. I can understand. The copper T can causeCramps. Nausea. Backache. Vaginal discharge. Inflammation of the vagina. Pelvic infection (uterus), which usually happens within three weeks after insertion. Ectopic pregnancy (egg implanting outside the womb) – very small risk but very serious. I suggest you to consult your gynecologist. Take care

Dear lybrate-user please let me know the dates when you had your last period. There can be various reasons for absence of menses or delayed menses, it has to be rule out. You can wait for a week and get pregnancy test again, urine sometimes doesn't show early pregnancy. You can get blood test Beta HCG done. Follow up after a week's time, then we can plan how to proceed.

Hi, 40 days ago my wife was delivered with (Cesarean) a beautiful baby girl. The problem is she suffered fully body itching on stomach as well as back and hand's during pregnancy. Now that's turned into black shades on above-mentioned places. Please suggest me to the medic for removing that black shades permanently. And need to know about which time to safe to doing sex in future for us.

Hi Apply olive oil on it. But these stretch marks can be reduced little bit and also it takes time. You should avoid intercourse for about 6 wks and later can do with protection.

Yes, of course. Hormonal disbalance can be a cause of hair growth. You need to get your complete hormonal profile. If you ate loosing weight then the causes can be many. You need to take healthy balanced diet.

I'm diagnosed with Pcos very recently. And I have already started with the medication. My insulin level is also increased. What I actually want to know is the Dr. has decided to work on controlling my insulin level by medicine. But she's hasn't given me any medicine for my menstrual cycle regularisation. Nor has she asked me to follow any particular diet. I have a little idea that in pcos there are a few things to avoid. But I completely clue about what exactly is it. The medicine which will work for increased sugar level will I metformin also works for pcos, so don't worry, it will help in regularisation of menses. The main thing you have to do is try to reduce your weight. Avoid eating food containing carbohydrate instead eat fibrous food. Avoid sweets. The problem with pcos is for pregnancy as there is formation of cyst around the ovum in ovary due to which the realease is obstructed.

This is a passing phase in life of every woman-menopause. No hormone tests or treatment. Let her be busy with routine activities, make her net savvy to be connected to virtual world. Stay away from negative friends and relatives. Get her tested for heart, eyes, bones as bones start losing calcium and are more prone to fractures. Give her vitamins and calcium supplements through high protein diet and medicines-shelcal 500/day + nutrisan /day. Avoid bad fats, salt and sugar. Get back here with reports after 15 days.

Everyone wants a slim suave figure and heads to a gym to work out and get trim. Fitness has its own share of myths and misconceptions

Almost everyone heads to a gym these days. If the guys want six pack abs the girls want well toned hips and thighs. Working out is good but there are several myths and misconceptions which shroud fitness. Dr. Earnest vijay, fitness director, o2 health studio dispels some of these myths.

Myth 1
Doing crunches helps to get six pack abs

This is not true. Men do crunches for abs and women do for well toned hips and thighs. The truth is that crunches only work on the muscles and not on the fat. If you see a surya or a hrithik roshan with six pack abs remember they haven’t had a sip of water for over 24 hours to get that look! so crunches alone don’t help to get six packs.

Myth 2
Spot reduction- does it work?

 People come to the gym saying they want spot reduction. They want to lose weight only on the arms not on the face, only on the face not on the cheeks etc. The truth is that you cannot choose and loose in exercise. Fat loss is an overall phenomenon is exercise and also based on genetics. We say what is the first to come is the last to go! so spot reduction doesn’t work for sure!

Myth 3
Crash dieting- how effective?

People follow crash diets and they do loose weight but it piles back in no time. These crash diets have no proper balance of proteins, fats and carbohydrates. Most of them are high in protein and are un healthy because they don’t give the body the required minerals. It is important to consult a dietician and take the recommended dietaty allowances according to the body weight and it should be a plan that can be followed for a life time.

Myth 4
Yo yo effect

 There is a huge misconception that you lose weight when you are exercising in the gym and when you stop gymming you gain back double the weight. This is not true. You won’t gain more if you maintain a certain level of physical activity even outside the gym and also continue to follow the diet. It is only when you don’t burn the calories you consume it gets stored as fat and tend to put on weight.

Myth 5
Weight training builds muscles

Many women don’t do weight training because they think they will build up muscles. The truth is that women have no hormones which can cause muscles to build up. Weight training actually helps to strengthen bones and prevent osteoporosis in women.

Myth 6
Do you need supplements?

Proteins and fat burners are not required if you are eating healthy and working out well. The recommended protein requirement is 1 gram of protein per kg body weight per day and this we get from our diet itself. Fat burners cause adverse effects to the cardiovascular and nervous systems.

Myth 7
Don’t take water while working out?

Water is needed before, during and after exercise. The best is to weight yourself before the work out and after the work out and consume as much water as the weight you have lost during the work out. It is important to remain well hydrated to prevent cramps, heat strokes and it helps you perform better in the gym.

Myth 8
Yoga helps for weight loss

Fitness involves a cardio vascular fitness, muscle strengthening, flexibility and body composition and there is a specific exercise for all. Yoga helps only the flexibility, stress and improves the breathing capacity. One needs to do specific exercises for specific goals and yoga alone may not help for weight loss.

Myth 9
Exercise causes over eating

Moderately intense exercise does not cause over eating. This means you don’t go out of breath while exercise. Only people who over do it, get completely breathless end up over eating after exerciseing.

Myth 10
Skipping meals- does it help?

It is said that those who skip breakfast to lose weight usually end up eating 100 calories more than required for lunch. It is important to break meals into 5 portions and have balanced quantities of carbohydrates, proteins and fats in them. A well balanced meal is important to keep the body healthy.

So all you fitness freaks out there…. Make sure you eat healthy, exercise well, don’t believe in myths that misguide you! a simple work out, a healthy diet and a positive frame of mind can all get you to the figure you always dreamt of!

A cervical polyp is a common benign polyp or tumour on the surface of the cervical canal. They can cause irregular menstrual bleeding but often show no symptoms. Treatment consists of simple removal of the polyp and prognosis is generally good. The cause of cervical polyps is not clearly understood. They might develop from an infection, chronic (long-term) inflammation, or an obstruction or any alteration in blood vessels in the cervical canal. However, large or multiple polyps can sometimes cause problems with fertility or result in recurrent miscarriage. Both polyps and fibroids in the uterine cavity can cause abnormal vaginal bleeding and occasionally cramping. These polyps and fibroids are almost always benign but they may need to be removed to render implantation. The risk of bleeding, infection or injury to the uterus is extremely rare. However, it is the submucosal myoma, inside the uterine cavity, that produces an IUD-like effect of irritating the uterine lining which can prevent implantation. Endometrial polyps (endometrial tissue protruding into the uterine cavity) may have a similar effect.

Hi. I'm 20. I last had my mc on 5th July and after that I got my periods on today (26th sep) it's almost 2 months, 20 days late. I had used some homeo medicines prescribed by my doctor but I don't had my periods so I had taken the primolut n on 21st sep and I finally got my periods today. So is there any problem? I always had irregular periods almost 15 days r one week late from the actual late but this time it was 2 months late. I'm scared that if I have any pcod problem? Or other problems? I suggest you to get some investigations like complete abdominal scan, thyroid profile test. Irregular periods is because of severe stress, hormonal imbalances, thyroid, pcod, fibroid of uterus. Till you are fully breastfeeding, the body provides natural contraception, since egg release is prevented. As the number of feeds and quantity of milk reduces after 6th month, a chance ovulation may escape, and result in pregnancy. So if you haven't got your cycles yet, it may be safe. After 4th month start using a regular pill.

Hello lybrate-user- pain during menses is due to improper tone of uterus muscles. Use dashmoolaristha 2 tsp twice daily for 10 days before menses. This single medicine will cure all of your menstrual problems (do not use the medicine more than ten days as the body will become habitual to it and will not respond quickly)

Yes, you should eat a high-fiber diet and exercise daily for at least 30 minutes. Fo yoga and meditation for healthy living.
