Dear lybrate-user, Welcome to Lybrate. Bidi and thambacu addiction also comes under abuse and addiction. If you’re ready to stop the substance and willing to get the support you need, you can recover from addiction and —no matter how bad the addiction or how powerless you feel. The first step in treating addiction is accepting that you have a problem. Confronting an addiction and accepting responsibility for your actions isn’t easy. But it’s a necessary step on the road to treatment and recovery. You should then consult a psychiatrist / psychologist who fill follow this treatment. 1. Detoxification using medicines. 2. Behavior modification with the help of therapies. 3. Counseling. 4. Medication to sustain and 5. Long term support. These given steps are essential for any addict to get effectively rid of addiction. Therefore, you need to stick to the treatment plan and cooperate with your psychiatrist / psychologist. Take care.

Your blood pressure is upper limit of the normal. Follow life style modification like salt restricted diet, walking, weight reduction. Other than dizziness, if you have any complaints, or if dizziness is persistent or increasing, it needs to be investigated.

I have hyperlipidemia without any reason as I have no family history nor I eat oily, spicy. What is the reason behind it and what is the treatment?

MBBS, MD - Internal Medicine
Internal Medicine Specialist, Faridabad
Hello dear High cholesterol can cause atherosclerotic heart disease or narrowed coronary arteries in the heart can cause the symptoms of angina, when theheart muscle is not provided with enough oxygen to function. Decreased blood supply to the brain may be due to narrowed small arteries in the brain or because the larger carotidarteries in the neck may become blocked. This can result in a transient ischmic attack or stroke. Peripheral artery disease describes gradual narrowing of the arteries that supply the legs. During exercise , if the legs do not get enough blood supply, they can develop pain , called claudication . Other arteries in the body may also be affected by plaque buildup causing them to narrow, including the mesenteric arteries to the intestine and the renal arteries to the kidney. Change life style .do meditation, yoga, Go walk daily, do any one physically activity daily i.e.play any game., Avoid fast foods, oily foods, junk foods, alcohol, smoking, fatty foods, non-veg.,avoid stress, use flax oil, omega-3 fatty meal or cap., take .green veg., whole grain. garlic,. Take anti cholesterol medicines .

I am 57 years old, facing urine 5/7 times in night, and my blood sugar is 110/150. Please advice, still no medication I have taken.

Fellowship of the Royal College of Surgeons (FRCS), MS - Urology, MBBS
Urologist, Ahmedabad
Dear, As you are not diabetic then get urine test and usg (kub) done with full bladder volume, bladder wall thickness on full bladder and post-void residual urine measurement. If urine shows more then 5 pus cells then you have infection and you will have to take antibiotic like ofloxacin 200 mg twice a day 1 hour before meals with water for 15 days and check urine. At the same time if you are retaining urine after urination then you have bladder outlet obstruction more likely to be bladde rneck obstruction or early prostatic enlargement for which you can take tamsulicin 0.4 mg at bed time. Let me know how you go.
