Hi. Is there any history of injury or hurt to the area? Any underlying medical condition? The pain in legs can be because of - muscle cramps (due to tiredness or dehydration), Shin splints (doing activity over and over on hard surfaces can bring this on. You may also be more likely to get shin splints if you have flat feet or your feet turn outward.Rest your legs to feel better. Ice helps), Tendinitis (you can get it from overworking the calf muscle or climbing the stairs, apply ice to get some relief), Sprains (do rest, ice, compression & elevation). Other causes are varicose veins, arterial disease, sciatica, diabetic neuropathy. Medication: Meantime, take homoeopathic medicines - Arnica 200 and Rhus Tox. 200 - take both of them thrice daily for 1 week. Also, apply Schwabe's Topi-Arnica and Topi MP Gel on the affected area in circular motions gently thrice a day. And wrap crepe bandage over it. Get back to me thereafter.

Hi yes it can overuse injury or tennis elbow/golfers elbow. Apply cold pack for 20 min. Thrice a day for 5 days. Still pain doesn't go and need further advice contact me via lybrate. Wishing you a good health.

I am 29 years, male. I am suffering from knee joint pains from last 2 years. What should I do?

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. Your knee pain could be due to certain reasons but common ones are chondromalacia, pain due to knee instability, inflammation etc. If there is no history of any injury, and no s/s of inflammation or infection like swelling, skin redness or local warmth on touching, then I will like to advise you for conservative management initially in form of: - intensive physical therapy with focus on strengthening of quadriceps and stretching of other group of muscles - gentle anti inflammatory medications like tab etoshine or tab paracetamol can be taken in small doses for 5-7 days - adequate calcium and vitamin d supplementation as per requirement - ice packs at home for 3-4 times in a day and see how it goes for around 2 weeks time. If your condition does not improve, then we will have to get certain investigations done. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. I am suffering from leg pain from 10 days. What should I do?
Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. This will relieve your problem. Consult after 10 days.

Please help me out with this. I developed severe and apparently permanent adverse reactions as a result of Hepatitis B vaccine. About 4 years ago I was completely healthy and very athletic before this vaccination and have now suffered severe, debilitating autoimmune side effects from this vaccine. Would a referral to orthopedics or Rheumatology be better for my left shoulder pain, which isn't in both shoulders at once, just the left, previously I had no shoulder problems, I used to lift 100 KG but now I get left shoulder pain when I lift 50 KG and these started after vaccination. There's a measurable loss in stamina before the vaccine to how I am now, I experience breathlessness much earlier when I do cardiovascular exercise then before I had the vaccine. I have chronic fatigue and it is not improved by getting rest. I have a dry persistent cough when there's nothing to bring up. I have a constant pain while I'm seated, which is focused in one specific area, on the upper left side of my abdomen. This area hurts while I'm seated with my laptop or while I'm watching TV or while I'm seated on the bus. The pain is related to muscle movement and positional. The pain isn't there with change of position i.e. Standing up or lying down flat. Painkillers don't help. It's not my stomach because when I eat, I can feel the stomach processing food and the upper left abdominal pain both at the same time, and they are in two different locations. I suffered the residual effects of all these symptoms for more than 4 years. I'm having an Ultrasound scan soon and I've had normal blood tests all which came out fine.

First of all arthritis is not a disease; its an ageing process, secondly pain can be decreased such that person can resume nearly normal activity. Holistic multimodality treatment is required.

It can be due to faulty posture, related to weak muscles, issues with intervertebral disc, narrowing of spinal canal, any bony instability besides many other, so accurate diagnosis is the key to proper management of the condition. Pain in legs is a common condition. Do hot fomentation keep a pillow under the legs at night &/when resting. Any way take caldikind plus (mankind) 1tab odx10days paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days do knee exercises it may have to be further investigated make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take.

I am 28 year old , in last november I stretch my legs very tightly during intercourse, after that day I faced leg pain every time. It mainly started in cool whether like when I sit in ac room or in winter session. Please help me. I went to many bone specialist , they all give me some vitamin tablets, but I do not get any result. I perfectly fine before this stretching , but no one able to understand my problem. I can not understand how one stretching create deficiency in vitamins or increase my uric acid. You might have pulled a leg muscle. Over-stretching can lead to a muscle strain, which is also called a pulled muscle and involves the muscle fiber tearing. Try self care at home: Protection, rest, ice, compression, and elevation (known as the PRICE formula) can help the affected muscle. Here's how: First, remove all constrictive clothing, including jewelry, in the area of muscle strain. Then: Protect the strained muscle from further injury. Rest the strained muscle. Avoid the activities that caused the strain and other activities that are painful. Ice the muscle area (20 minutes every hour while awake). Ice is a very effective anti-inflammatory and pain-reliever. Small ice packs, such as packages of frozen vegetables or water frozen in foam coffee cups, applied to the area may help decrease inflammation. Compression can be gently applied with an Ace or other elastic bandage, which can both provide support and decrease swelling. Do not wrap tightly. Elevate the injured area to decrease swelling. Prop up a strained leg muscle while sitting, for example. Activities that increase muscle pain or work the affected body part are not recommended until the pain has significantly improved. If you hear a "popping" sound with the injury, cannot walk, or there is significant swelling, pain, fever, you should be examined by a doctor.

Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. I am Dr. Akshay from fortis hospital, new delhi. You have mentioned backache since 1 week. If you have localized back pain with no other symptoms like radiating leg pain, neurological symptoms like numbness, weakness, paresthesias etc, then you can start with following recommendations for initial period of 2-3 weeks: - to maintain proper posture of your back while working and sleeping - if pain is more then you can take a short course of an anti-inflammatory medication like tab etoshine or paracetamol or one which suits you - physical therapy initially under supervision of a trained physiotherapist and then to continue at home - adequate calcium & vitamin d intake if levels are low in body - ice packs can applied if your pain is acute, then hot fomentation can be done at home - analgesic spray for local application can be used and is easily available. - avoid lifting heavyweight/ acute forward bending in mornings etc we will observe you for next 2-3 weeks how you respond to this conservative management protocol. If you are not feeling better, then we will have to get some investigations like, dynamic x rays of lower back and few blood tests for evaluation. Lybrate-user as per you say. You have grade 2 spondylolisthesis. In this condition I wouldn't recommend any back exercise. It leads to further complications as neural involvement. So don't do abs exercise. Don't put your body on high stress and strain.
