10 Health Benefits of Peas

Peas are really little powerhouses of nutrition that are a boon for your health and the whole planet. Read all their benefits, how to use them properly, and some easy recipes.  We start with the benefits of this tasty powerfood.

1.  Weight Management:

Peas are low fat but high everything else.  A cup of peas has less than 100 calories but lots of protein, fiber and micro-nutrients.

2. Stomach cancer prevention:

Peas contain high amounts of a health-protective polyphenol called coumestrol. A study in Mexico City determined you only need 2 milligrams per day of this phytonutrient to prevent stomach cancer. A cup of peas has at least 10.

3. Anti-aging, strong immune system, and high energy:

This comes from the high levels of anti-oxidants including:

  • flavinoids: = catechin and epicatechin
  • carotenoid= alpha-carotene and beta-carotene
  • phenolic acids = ferulic and caffeic acid
  • polyphenols = coumestrol

4. Prevention of wrinkles, Alzheimer’s, arthritis, bronchitis, osteoporosis and candida

These come from peas strong anti-inflammatory properties. Excess inflammation has also been linked to, heart disease, cancer, and aging in general. These properties include:

Hello lybrate user, best schedule to follow is the schedule mentioned by the indian academy of pediatrics which includes all the vaccines that are important for your baby. The govt schedule is the basic immunization model and consists of all the mandatory vaccines but certain optional vaccines due to affordability issues have not been included. So iap includes all the vaccines mandatory as well as optional. So if affordability is not an issue you could go for the iap schedule which all private practitioners follow.

According to me, I suggest that medicines which abort are too harmful so dnt use it. Only method is to abort surgically. Personally I would advice to keep the baby and progress for sucessful healthy pregnancy. As many a times after mechanical abortions, couples are facing infertility issues.

You can apply these home remedies for relief: • Take 1/2 piece of ginger, crush it and squze its juice and mix it with one teaspoon of honey and take 1/2 spoon of this mixture 2 times in a day. • Take 4 - 5 tulsi leaves and 1/2 piece of ginger and 1 glass of water mix both of them in water and boil it till half glass of water remain in the container then drink it by add 1/2 teaspoon of sugar. • Avoid cold water, ice creams, and pickle. • Take strepsils or sualiin (hamdard pharma) 1 tablet 3 times per day or slowly suck a piece of mulethi. • Drink lukewarm water.

I am 66 years old. I have diabetes, high b.p. And elevated cholesterol level. For the past 15 days there is swelling in my both legs. Please get all your tests done again. Take proper diet to reduce your elevated BP / Sugar / Cholesterol. Start doing 30 mins yoga + walk daily. There could be a problem in Kidney. Firstly it is all right to put on some weight in this stage. It is normal, but very soon you can get back to being fit. You have to focus on both a Light Nutritious Diet + Daily exercise. A good balanced diet is sufficient to take care of your needs plus baby's needs. Normally in our households they insist on overfeeding the mother will all sorts of Ghee and other high calorie stuff. You need to cut down on the excess Oils and Excess Sugars in your diet. . Max 5 Teaspoons of Oil/Ghee per day. Max 4 Teaspoons of Sugar Per day. Eat three fruits every day. Take 10 almonds daily. Eat three meals + some light snacks like Poha / Sprouts / Salads in between meals. Do 30 mins walk daily. Slow and steady wins the race. With time you will be fit.
