My question is that how we can care for our eyes and which food is better for our eyes and which food is harmful for our eyes. How we can judge that which activity is better for protection of our eye?

Diet for EYESIGHT Lutein and zeaxanthin are both important nutrients for eye health,6 as both of them are found in high concentrations in your macula—the small central part of your retina responsible for detailed central vision. More specifically, lutein is also found in your macular pigment – known for helping to protect your central vision and aid in blue light absorption—and zeaxanthin is found in your retina.Estimated daily dose of lutein is 10 mg per day, and at 2 mg/day for zeaxanthin. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are primarily found in green leafy vegetables, although zeaxanthin is far scarcer than lutein. Kale and spinach are two of the most lutein-rich foods, but you'll also find it in carrots, squash, and other orange and yellow fruits and vegetables. Both lutein and zeaxanthin are carotenoids called xanthophylls, which give plants and vegetables their yellow-orange color, and the name "lutein" comes from the Latin word "luteus," which means "yellow." If you remember this, it may help you pick out vegetables that are likely to contain higher amounts of these two nutrients. Egg yolk is another source of both lutein and zeaxanthin that is well absorbed by your body Most of the dark green leafy vegetables, previously recommended for a higher intake of lutein and zeaxanthin, have 15-47 percent of lutein, but a very low content (0-3 percent) of zeaxanthin. study shows that fruits and vegetables of various colors can be consumed to increase dietary intake of lutein and zeaxanthi It is also important to note that lutein is an oil-soluble nutrient, so if you eat the vegetables without some oil or butter your body can't absorb the lutein. Adding a little bit of healthy fat, such as olive oil, coconut oil, or raw organic butter, will maximize your lutein absorption. Lutein content in food Food Mg / serving Orange ( Raw) 0.2/1 large Egg 0.2/1 large Spinach (cooked) 20.4 / 1 cup Papaya(Raw) 0.3/1 large Turnip greens (cooked) 12.2 / 1 cup Green peas (cooked) 4.1 / 1 cup Spinach (raw) 3.7 / 1 cup Corn (cooked) 1.5 / 1 cup Broccoli (raw) 1.3 / 1 cup Broccoli (cooked) 0.8 / 1/2 cup Green beans (cooked) 0.9 / 1 cup

I am 28 years old and since 4 years I had been suffering from various brain related problems like, dizziness, unconsciousness, balance and most importantly eye and eyesight problems. In last few years my eyes went from dry, itching to wet recently. I have consulted many eye doctors and found the eyes abosultely normal. I had MRI scan that too shows no significant problem. Then I see the neurophysicians and he found my b12 level very low in 200 range. So he gave me 20-25 infections and I took around 22. But I still feel Same with little improvement. Eventually now I started feeling issues with speaking, listening and seeing. One doctor recommended me to consult psychiatrist and he gave me one month dose in which mostly were sleeping pills. Please help me doctor to recover brain health as well as mental health. By birth I had no issues with eyesight and never had headache and no health issues until 24 but now because of personal issues I landed in depression. I was at London studying MBA when all such health issues started post a tragic gap year at home.

Lybrate-user, I have handle exactly similar patients many times. Solution to your problem is management of stress and lifestyle. You need to see a good holistic therapist who should guide you with yoga therapy. Your brain and mind is working overtime. Calm down, take an years break and settle your health. You have no organic disease. It's only the burden and cobwebs in your mind that is causing brain to declare war situation and hence dizziness. Until you get a good holistic doctor, start surya namaskar watching youtube.

MD - Pathology

Most of the times its just that skin under the eyes is very delicate and it gets loosened with age and it appears as swelling. Or to rule out anything serious just get your kidney function, liver function tests and serum proteins done. Come back with reports.

Hello, you should do these exercises to strengthen your eye muscles:- Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids.

Hi. I have a few suggestions for you regarding the usage of computers, mobile phones and books. Follow the rule of" 20" this means that every 20 minutes, take a gap of 20 seconds, blink your eyes actively 20 times and focus at an object which is minimum 20 feet away. This will help in relieving your eyes from the continuous strain that is caused due to staring. Staring at the computer continuously causes us to subconsciously blink less than normal. This causes the tear film on the surface of the eye to dry up. The result of this is pain, discomfort, etc. Another suggestions regarding the usage of computers is to maintain a proper posture. The computer must be positioned at the same height as your eye level. The neck should not be inadvertently flexed or extended. Roughly, an angle of 90 degrees should be maintained between your upper body and thighs. Likewise, a similar angle (90 degrees) should be maintained between your lower legs and thighs. Also the angle between your hands and arms should be roughly 90 degrees. This is the healthy ergonomic way of sitting while using a computer. Maintenance of proper posture would help in further relieving the symptoms of eye discomfort and pain. All these suggestions may take a while to sink in and imbibe in your routine. Once followed, they are sure to work wonders for you.

Always Always wash your hands with a mild soap and dry them with a lint-free towel before touching your lenses. Always clean, rinse, and disinfect your lenses each time you remove them. Always clean your lens case daily and let air dry. Replace your lens case every three months. Always use solution before expiration date marked on bottle, or discard. Always remove contacts before you go swimming. Always carry your contact lens case along with a bottle of multi-purpose solution to have a safe place to store your lenses. Always schedule regular appointments with your eye care professional as he/she recommends. Never Never allow soaps, cosmetics, or other substances to come into contact with your lenses. Never touch the tip of a lens care solution bottle to any surface, including your finger or the contact lens. Never re-use any lens care solution. Never use eye drops or solutions not intended for use with contact lenses. Never wear your contact lenses in the presence of harmful or irritating vapors or fumes. perhaps that would be difficult to comment without seeing but unfortunately there are no natural medications to remove spectacles permanently. you can either try contact lenses or plan for refractive lasik laser surgery

When I read books continuously then their is heads and pain in my eyes. What to do for this problem.
Pain in the eyes and headache may have multiple causes associated with it. There are a few points you need to look at before jumping to any conclusions. Have you undergone an eye check up previously? is there any history of raised pressure in your eyes? do you have anybody in your family having raised eye pressure? do you suffer from recurrent cold, fever, cough, etc? do you have a lot of work/ study related stress? do you use glasses? the reason for asking all these questions is that headache and eye pain may occur due to various reasons ranging from change in glasses, sinusitis, migraine, glaucoma, tension, blood pressure and so on. The list is long. It would be a good idea to have a look at your eyes. This would help in coming to a decision whether your eye pain and headache is due to an eye problem. If you could use the video facility provided by lybrate and get in touch, I could probably guide you more accurately as to provide relief to your symptoms.

There is no medication or food for improving eyesight or to get rid of glasses. If not interested in glasses then you can try a. Contact lens b. Lasik laser as your age is now 22 years so your number will not increase now whether you wear glasses or not as number becomes stable at age of 18-20 yrs. Having said that I advise you to eat balanced diet including green vegetables and seasonal fruits for keeping eyes and body healthy. As you are not comfortable with contact lens then go for lasik. Lasik is a very easy and painless procedure. If you want to get rid of glasses then go for lasik.
