I am 30 years old. I am having a baby of age 2 months old. I am breastfeeding her. But I am having a doubt that is my milk enough for my baby. How can I know that my milk is enough for my baby. Please suggest me the foods to be taken by me to increase breast milk.

MD - Paediatrics, MBBS, FISPN & FISPN - Pediatric Nephrology
Pediatrician, Delhi
This is the common concern all the first time mothers will have, and its really simple to understand. You should look for the following signs for the adequacy of breast milk: 1. You will feel lightness in your breast after feeding. 2. Baby is passing urine every 4 hours atleast. 3. Baby is gaining weight. Thats it. To increase breast milk only one thing helps at that is confidence in yourself. Have confidence that you gonna feed your baby. Be relaxed anxiety is the major cause of decrease in breast milk supply. So sit back and relax. All other things can weight but your baby can`t so for the first 6 months of life your baby is your priority. Just take one extra meal a day for baby nothing else is required and always eat what you like to eat not what other say.

Some women experiences pain during intercourse because of lack of lubrication. This is because of lie estrogen levels. Take flaxseeds in your diet, which will help in lubrication. Apply extra virgin olive oil internally and massage it. It will lubricate the internal walls of vagina. With PCOD one has the problem of egg maturation, in this there are multiple small follicle which due to lack of hormonal production from body does not grow and rupture, and hence one is not able to conceive. So for that you people require to do IVF, where ovulation induction is done and the mature eggs are taken out and fertilized with husband's sperm, and implanted in uterus. Right not thyroid is fine continue the medicine for that. For PCOD patient it is required for her to exercise daily and follow healthy diet schedule, it will help her in regularizing the cycle and ovulation.

I am a 24 years old unmarried girl. I am facing an issue with my periodic cycle. From the past many months it has been on time but this time its delayed by 10 days now. Insufficient Cervix - Understanding It In Detail!

Insufficient Cervix - Understanding It In Detail!

The cervix is a part of the female reproductive system. It is the lower part of the woman's uterus, and it connects the vagina with the uterus. This is usually closed and tight, but ends up dilating during occasions like pregnancy and childbirth. The cervix is also known to soften eventually during the course of one's pregnancy and delivery. In case the cervix starts to open up too early, this condition is known as an insufficient cervix or an incompetent cervix. Here is everything you need to know about this condition.

Definition and symptoms: An incompetent or insufficient cervix is one that opens up too early and does not support a normal delivery. The symptoms that may point at this condition include pressure in the pelvic area, pain in the back, light bleeding from the vagina, mild cramps in the abdomen, and a change in the odour and hue of the vaginal discharge that may be experienced by the pregnant woman. Usually, such symptoms and changes are not seen in the early stages of one's pregnancy. Mostly, the symptoms are experienced after the fourth or fifth month of pregnancy, in the second trimester, when there is greater pressure on the area due to the growing fetus.

Risk factors: There are a number of factors that increase the risk of this condition, including congenital conditions like uterine anomalies and other genetic disorders. These disorders may affect the fibrous protein that produces the connective tissue of the body, which is also known as collagen. When there is a decrease in this kind of tissue, the cervix becomes incompetent or insufficient. Also, when there has been overexposure to synthetic estrogen, this kind of condition may be experienced. Further, cervical trauma is another factor that may cause this condition along with dilation and curettage, which is a procedure that corrects uterine conditions.

Treatment: The main form of treatment usually includes the prescription of progesterone supplements in the form of weekly administered injections. Also, serial ultrasounds every fortnight can help in monitoring the situation closely so that the doctor is able to ascertain whether or not you are going to be able to go through a normal delivery or not. Cervical cerclage is also a surgical procedure that can help such a condition. In this procedure, the cervix is stitched up with strong sutures, which will be removed in the last month of pregnancy, or just before the delivery. This is especially helpful if there have been cases of premature delivery in the past. This procedure is usually carried out within the first 14 weeks of the pregnancy to avoid loss of the fetus.

Yes their is a possible treatment for PCOD. You can go and take doctor's advice. And for weight gain you need to follow a good diet plan like avoid kunk food, oily and fried food, refined cereals etc. Go for high fibre breakfast like you can have 1 bowl vegetable poha, oats, oats idli etc with 1 glass of tonned milk then in mid morning have 1 bowl of papaya in lunch you can have 2 oat bran chapati + vegetable + curd+ salad then in evening 1 cup green tea + 5-6 soaked biscuits then in dinner time you can have 1-2 bowl vegetable soup + 1 bowl dalia. Have small and frequent meals. Team Nutrihealth.

8 months pregnancy is almost fully developed and it does put a load on back bone and nerves, even stomach gets squeezed and woman cannot eat full, she needs to eat more frequently, back pain is a natural phenomenon for the body to prepare for normal delivery. Focus on other things for the new baby and forget about backache. Go to doctor only with labor pains, and get antenatal check up for hb. Urine test for sugar/albumin/pus. Ultrasound for placenta position, baby position&weight, amount of water around the baby.

What should a women do in pregnancy? When she feel more pain in stomach and in knees also?

MBBS, MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology, FMAS, DMAS

What should a women do in pregnancy? When she feel more pain in stomach and in knees also?
A pregnancy state is a natural state and its not a disease per se. She should behave normally during pregnancy and just that diet should be slightly increased from second trimester with increase in daily calorie intake by 300 calories in second trimester, hence 2400 calories daily.
