I am a 47 years man with border line diabetes. I clinch my teeth in the night while sleeping. What do I do?

MDS - Prosthodontist and Implantologist, Root canal certificate, BDS
Dentist, Noida
Hello clinching your teeth in the night is also called as bruxism. This may happen due to various reasons. The most common reason for bruxism is stress. However, you require a night guard to protect your teeth from wearing out due to bruxism. I would advise you to see a dentist for getting a night guard to protect our teeth.

By using a wire brush, gently clean between brackets (under the wires) to get the plaque off. It is very necessary to keep the mouth free from plaque during the orthodontic treatment.

During root canal a piece of needle is remain in my teeth by dentist. He says me that was not create any problem how ...
It may or may not create a problem depending upon how far your canal was cleaned, position of the broken instrument and the seal aswell. If the tooth is not creating any problem then I would advice you to wait for some time and keep it under observation. If in future any pain or swelling occurs then either the tooth needs extraction or a retreatment.

My tooth are more sensitive. I can't eat any sweet, coffee and cold drinks. But I don't have any decayed tooth. What ...
Sensitivity of teeth can be because of many reasons. The common ones are: 1. Erosion of the enamel can be because of - using a hard/medium toothbrush using too much pressure while brushing acidity excess of fruit juice, lime etc. 2. Gingival recession due to gum infection. The treatment would depend upon the cause and the presenting clinical picture. A desensitising coating is a safe procedure and effective for superficial erosions.

Along with brushing and flossing, tongue cleaning on a daily basis is also very important. Use of a proper tongue scraper every morning will remove tongue plaque and freshen your breath.

My mom have nerve problems on back teeth and throat is also paining since 2 years.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery
Dentist, Chennai
My mom have nerve problems on back teeth and throat is also paining since 2 years.
We need more investigations (full mouth x-ray) to decide upon treatment. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

My sister had a white growth on her tongue which was operated couple of weeks back and biopsy done. Report said No Malignancy. It was diagnosed as Hyperkeratosis. Now, once again the same white growth has come back at the same location. Please suggest treatment. Thanks.

B H M S, MD
Homeopath, Thrissur
Hyperkeratosis is thickening of the outermost layer of the epidermis, often associated with the presence of an abnormal quantity of keratin, and also usually accompanied by an increase in the granular layer. As the corneum layer normally varies greatly in thickness in different sites, some experience is needed to assess minor degrees of hyperkeratosis. It can be caused by vitamin A deficiency or chronic exposure to arsenic. Hyperkeratosis can also be caused by B-Raf inhibitor drugs such as Vemurafenib and Dabrafenib. It can be treated with urea-containing creams, which dissolve the intercellular matrix of the cells of the stratum corneum, promoting desquamation of scaly skin, eventually resulting in softening of hyperkeratotic area. But homoeopathic approach is to improve the immunity which will prevent the recurrence as you had. if your are interested opt for a consultation

Quit habits. Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations to decide upon treatment. My age is 26. I cleaned my teeth recently in clinic for the first time and I don't want to clean it every year because it creates teeth gap and damages to the teeth. Can better care avoid me to go to the clinic again?

BDS
Dentist, Zirakpur
Getting teeth cleaned every 6 months is just like you taking a professional care of your face, hair etc. Cleaning dosnt create gaps. Cleaning removes tartar from inbetween the teeth and if you maintain that cleaniness your gum will fill up that triangular gap. -care all you need is two times brushing -interdental cleaning -tongue cleaning -restrict in between meals -decrease the frequency of sugar intake -rinse your mouth everytime you have something even after all this you might be needing a professional cleaning once a year because after you have your meal their is a deposition of a layer on your teeth which is called plaque. That plaque if not removed turns into calculus (tartar) professional cleaning remoces tartar.

Hi I am a 25 years old male and I have a problem bleeding in my teeth. What should I do?

BDS
Dentist, Bangalore
Hi I am a 25 years old male and I have a problem bleeding in my teeth. What should I do?
There are so many causes of bleeding gums - - brushing too hard - poor oral hygiene. - vitamin deficiency - taking blood thinners or other medications - bleeding or clotting disorders - mouth sores - other medical problems, including diabetes, heart disease, leukemia or scurvy few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.
