Exercises You Must Follow During Pregnancy

Advice for an expectant mother is plentiful to come around from family and friends. While it may be well intentional, it may not be the best advice possible. One of the things most people would advise is to avoid exercising as it may affect the health of the mother and the baby. This is in fact a very wrong advice as expectant mothers like everyone need exercise to stay fit and healthy. The only difference from normal people is that certain types of exercises may not be suitable for pregnant women and the nature of exercises may change from trimester to trimester.

Some of the best exercises during pregnancy

  1. Swimming: This one is in fact recommended by doctors as the best and the safest exercise for pregnant women. Swimming is beneficial because of the following reasons:
    • It has immense cardiovascular benefits
    • Large muscles groups are exercised in the process
    • Helps reduce swelling and inflammation
    • Helps with low back pain and relieves the stress on your spine which is caused due to the extra weight you are carrying around.
  2. Walking: This is one of the safest exercise during any trimester as long as you don’t over exert yourself. Walking promotes blood circulation, improves heart health and is all around a good exercise for pregnant women. The key is to invest in a good pair of shoes for walking so as to prevent the knees and legs from jarring and also to support your upper body properly.
  3. Stretching: In the later trimesters, it may be a little difficult to manage other exercises as your body becomes heavier and movement may bse limited. However, you can do basic stretching exercises to improve mobility and also help with circulation.
  4. Weight training exercises: Certain exercises which utilize the weight of your body rather than external weight can be performed easily. You can also use lighter weights to help keep muscle tone and strength. A few examples of these exercises are:
    • Side leg lifting: Lie on one side and lift one leg up slightly higher than hip height. You can use your forearm for balance in this case. Keep lifting the leg and hold it there for a few seconds and do the same motions a few times for repetitions.
    • Curling and lifting: Sit on a chair with your back straight with 2 to 4 kilo weights in each hand and curl up your hands up to the shoulders. Sit with your legs spread apart but comfortably. Also start the curl with your fore arms at a 90° angle from your elbows.
    • Yoga and meditation: Yoga is possibly one of the most well suited regimens during pregnancy. Pranayama and meditation can definitely help you be more at peace and also manage many of the changes happening in your body in a much better fashion.

It is best to consult with a specialist or a physiotherapist who can give you a step by step guide as to the exercises you can do and the precautions that you need to take while performing them. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a gynaecologist.

Marriage is believed to be a license for sex, there is always a partner available anytime, anywhere. Right? Maybe, in the initial stages, before the realities of marriage set in (that too provided you have the privacy and the household chores in order). With kids entering the scene, this scene changes completely. For both men and women, life changes drastically, and sex soon becomes a thing of the past.

While the woman undergoes a lot of physical changes and the new one becomes the centre of all her attention, the male is confused somewhere between frustration and loss of attention.

Suddenly, everything revolves around the new one, and somewhere, the physical intimacy between the couples is completely lost. Most couples resign to it as a way of life, a part of parenthood. Some get frustrated and may even look for sex outside marriage. Come to think of it, what created the child is taken away completely by the child.

However, the scene need not be as bad too. There are always ways and workarounds and taking out a couple of hours for the couple should not be a problem, if planned nicely.

Lost privacy:

With the kid on the scene, the couple often loses privacy (of the house sometimes, of their bedroom for sure). This is also one of the main reasons for the loss of sex. Maybe, after a year (or earlier depending on a case-to-case basis), try to have a separate bedroom for the child. This not only gives you privacy but also can lead to a romantic night. So, growing a baby does not have to take you away from your partner!

Planned dates:

Ensure the kid (or kids) is taken care of. Get your close family or friends to babysit them and get yourself out of the environment physically. Being at home will make you constantly want to supervise if things are going well. Trust your babysitters, and they will be fine. Do this at least once a month (or more frequently if possible) to keep the romance alive.

Plan your day:

With a newborn baby around (or for that matter, with a child around, whatever the age), there is never an end to the to-do list. Getting to bed very late completely drained does not allow for any physical intimacy between you and the partner. Once in a while, wind up a little early, leave some things for the next day and take some time out with the partner. Even some heartfelt talk would leave you feeling close and be a great way to end the day. I am just worried that I have problems with my health. They were saying that menstrual cramps is quite normal, but I've just noticed that most of them can still handle the pain and function well. But with me, it was really painful to the point that I really can't stand, walk, and function well. It feels like my uterus is killing me. Hello- Menstrual pain are not normal. You can check on your elders at home for this as two decades earlier only few % of females were suffering from the issue and presently few % is exempted from this agony. The reason behind is improper diet and schedule done specially near the time of menses. Pain during menses is due to improper tone of uterus muscles. Use Dashmoolaristha 2 tsp twice daily for 10 days before menses. This single medicine will cure all of your menstrual problems (do not use the medicine more than ten days as the body will become habitual to it and will not respond quickly)

If your monthly cycle of 28-30 days ,unsafe period 13-18th frm 1st of period.in remaining days you can have sex with condoms. But this is nt 100% sure contraceptive method.

Dear lybrate-user, following tips will help to over come constipation problem 1) one bowl of green leafy vegetable once in day. 2) one bowl of fruit vegetable once in day. 3) 2-2-2- 2 tea spoon of cow ghee with food or milk 4) suran sag alternate day 5) 6 - 8 glass water daily. 6) take food regular & on time- breakfast 7-8 am, lunch 12-1 pm & dinner 7-8 pm 7) pomegranate & other fruits twice daily at 10-11 am & 4-5 pm 8) no raw food only well cooked home made food, 9) avoid excess tea- coffee, cold drinks, out side food, oily, fermented, pack, tinned, junk, chinese food. 10) take 6-8 hours sleep between 10 pm to 6 am.

Hello, generally after delivery women get into lot of problems. I would suggest you do yoga at least for 15mins in the morning. Pls don't go on heavy medication, which inturn affect other organs. Talk calcium in your diet aslo iron supplements. Which helps you keep your both strength and required blood levels. You should be on this supplements atleast for 4 to 5 months along with yoga. Please take good care of your health, bcoz in a near future when you start aging you will get into lot of problems, if you have enough blood levels in your body you wont feel numbness in your fingers. So, for initially go with foodsupplements. Which helps you keep your blood levels required with out any side effects. Calcium and iron cost you arong 2000/- last for 3 months

hi Nazneem, it's better if you get proper internal examination to rule out vaginal infection, your further treatment will depend upon type of the infection. in the meantime please keep local area Clean and dry, wear loose cotton trousers and, wear cotton undergarments change twice a day. have a speedy recovery.

स्त्रियों की योनी से सफेद पानी का बहना एक साधारण समस्या है. इसमें योनी से पानी जैसा स्त्राव होता है. य़ह खुद कोई रोग नहीं है. लेकिन यह स्त्रियों के लिए बड़ी परेशानी का सबब बन जाता है. इसके कारण चिड़चिड़ापन, पैर-हाथ में दर्द इत्यादि का सामना करना पड़ता है. तो आइए हम जानते हैं कि घरेलू उपायों द्वारा कैसे श्वेत प्रदर को खत्म किया जा सकता है. आपको क्या-क्या करना चाहिए और क्या-क्या नहीं.

श्वेत प्रदर ( सफेद पानी ) की समस्या खत्म करने के घरेलू उपाय :
 

  • हर दिन कच्चा टमाटर खाना शुरू करें.
  • सुबह-शाम 2 चम्मच प्याज का रस और उतनी हीं मात्रा में शहद मिलाकर पिएँ.
  • जीरा भूनकर चीनी के साथ खाने से फायदा होगा.
  • आंवले का रस और शहद लगातार 1 महीने तक सेवन करें. इससे श्वेत प्रदर ठीक हो जायेगा.
  • हर दिन केला खाएँ, इसके बाद दूध में शहद डालकर पिएँ. इसके आपकी सेहत भी अच्छी होगी और श्राव के कारण होने वाली कमजोरी भी दूर होगी. कम-से-कम तीन महीने तक यह उपाय करें, दूध के ठंडा हो जाने के बाद उसमें शहद डालें.
  • कच्चे केले की सब्जी खाएँ.
  • अगर आपके शरीर में खून की कमी है, तो खून बढ़ाने के लिए हरी सब्जियाँ, फल, चुकन्दर इत्यादि खाएँ.
  • 1 केला लें, उसे बीच से काट लें. उसमें 1 ग्राम फिटकरी भर दें, इसे दिन या रात में एक बार खाएँ. लेकिन ध्यान रखें कि अगर दिन में खाना शुरू किया तो, दिन में हीं खाएँ. और अगर रात में खाना शुरू किया हो, तो रात में हीं खाएँ.
  • तले-भूने चीज या मसालेदार चीज नहीं के बराबर खाएँ.
  • योनी की साफ-सफाई का ध्यान रखें.
  • मैदे से बनी चीजें न खाएँ.
  • एक बड़ा चम्मच तुलसी का रस लें, और उतनी हीं मात्रा में शहद लें. फिर इसे खा लें. इससे आपको आराम मिलेगा.
  • . अनार के हरे पत्ते लें, 25-30 पत्ते…. 10-12 काली मिर्च के साथ पीस लें. इसमें आधा ग्लास पानी डालें, फिर छानकर पी लीजिए. ऐसा सुबह-शाम करें.
  • भूने चने में खांण्ड (गुड़ की शक्कर) मिलाकर खाएँ, इसके बाद 1 कप दूध में देशी घी डाल कर पिएँ.
  • 10 ग्राम सोंठ का, एक कप पानी में काढ़ा बनाकर पिएँ. ऐसा एक महीने तक करें.
  • पीपल के 2-4 कोमल पत्ते लेकर, पीस लें. फिर इसे दूध में उबालकर पिएँ.
  • 1 चम्मच आंवला चूर्ण लें और 2-3 चम्मच शहद लें. और इन्हें आपस में मिलाकर खाएँ. ऐसा एक महीने तक करें.
  • खूब पानी पिएँ.
  • सिंघाड़े के आटे का हलुआ और इसकी रोटी खाएँ.
  • 3 ग्राम शतावरी या सफेद मूसली लें, फिर इसमें 3 ग्राम मिस्री मिलाकर, गर्म दूध के साथ इसका सेवन करें.
  • नागरमोथा, लाल चंदन, आक के फूल, अडूसा चिरायता, दारूहल्दी, रसौता, इन सबको 25-25 ग्राम लेकर पीस लें. पौन लीटर पानी में उबालें, जब यह आधा रह जाय तो छानकर उसमें 100 ग्राम शहद मिलाकर दिन में दो बार 50-50 ग्राम सेवन करें.
  • माजू फल, बड़ी इलायची और मिस्री को बराबर मात्रा में पीस लें. एक सप्ताह तक दिन में तीन बार लें. एक सप्ताह के बाद फिर दिन में एक बार 21 दिन तक लें.

First thing in the morning take one glass of fresh buttermilk mixed with roasted jeera (cumin) and crushed dry coriander (dhaniya) leaves along with slight salt on empty stomach instead of bed-tea. This would strengthen your intestines (gut) and boosting up your body immunity to fight various infections and may life style disorders.
Please note that the buttermilk should not be sour and very cold in temperature.

If you only had intercourse on 23 july then its highly unlikely that you will be pregnant as its a safe period. But even then if you want to be sure. Do a urine pregnancy test yourself using preganews or velocit kit available in market.
