My husband is 35 years old. He is very aggressive and violent. He never lets me express my feelings when he hurts me with his behaviour. On the contrary he starts blaming me giving superstitious reasons. This is affecting our marriage very badly. He is irregular in his work. Spending days at home, watching tv, playing games on mobile or else sleeping but not going to work giving some reason or the other. If he does any work of an hour or so he talks high of it but not regularly going for job. He lies too much to escape confrontation. There is always fight between us and he blames me for it calling me jinx. Although ours is a love marriage. Suddenly he has turned hostile towards me. He misbehaves and quarrels with me when his mother is around specifically. I have been very patient with his violent behaviour but I also retaliate at times due to the physical and verbal abuses everyday. He never accepts his mistake and behaves very abnormal by shouting, pulling his own hair, making weird voices, making big eyes etc. This is very disturbing for me. I come from a family where my parents never raised their voices at me. Forget about beating. I have only my father in my family. My mother is no more. He knew everything from the very beginning and he was ok with it. Gradually he has started blaming my father for our bad relationship. Although my father never interferes. My father intervened once when he was physically abusing me and my husband raised his hands on my father too. I am unable to cope up with his behaviour. Kindly advise.

I am a little concerned that he is becoming so dysfunctional and finding excuses to justify it. Also a lot of his behavior could come under some pathological condition that he may need immediate help. I suggest that you both go for marriage counseling and work out your issues and if that counselor sees the need for him to seek psychiatric intervention, he would need to do so, and maybe he will be more receptive if the suggestion came from the professional. If he is unwilling to come with you, you at least go and meet with the counselor and describe the situation as objectively as you can. You will be guided as to what can be done to help you cope. You should not tolerate violence at any cost: this will lead to a pattern so that later it will become near impossible to correct it. If he has any disturbance in his personality, then he himself may not realize his misdeeds. If left untreated, he could become worse. Keep your father out of this as much as possible and seek professional help soon.

My niece stammers a little bit while speaking. He is 13 years old. Please tell me the solution.

Hi I am 24 years old past two years I use to to do gym six pack all these things. You need to look at what is disturbing you emotionally. Natural concentration is when the mind can hold a thought for a long time, when thoughts are under our own control. Without concentration the mind goes here, there and everywhere, jumping like a monkey from branch to branch, idea to idea. When there is a natural concentration, we can control our mind and there is peace. This one-pointed concentration on a thought, holding it for as long as we like, gradually collects strength in the mind and in the self. A strong mind is a mind that is peaceful, stable, satisfied and can remain in the deeper meaning of a thought. There is no waste caused by over-thinking, or the high speed of thought: These are the two greatest diseases of the mind these days, which is why there is so much stress and mental breakdown. Stress can foil concentration and learning ability. Although concentration is different to memory, they can affect each other. Concentration precedes memory. If you are under stress your concentration will go for a toss, then naturally memory will be totally foiled. So meet with a counselor to take care of the stress and your memory will happily return. You can follow these simple rules in the meantime: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. You need to check out if you are stronger visual or auditory. The visual is a better mode than the auditory. However, if you combine the two modes, you will get the best concentration. Short-term memory is a faculty of the left brain, and long-term memory is a feature of the right brain. When people are stressed, they tend to favor the right brain and abandon the left brain, where short-term memory resides. So, it is really very simple: deal with the stress and activate left brain functions. Here are a few suggestions to activate left brain function: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. There is a new exercise called Super Brain Yoga, which is done by holding the right earlobe with your left thumb and index finger, and the left earlobe with your right hand’s thumb and index finger. In this position you must squat down and rise up and do this for five minutes every day. If your home life is full of distractions and stress, it is likely to affect your memory, adversely. In that case, I suggest that the family goes for counseling. The following foods do help too: Blueberries, walnuts, turmeric, Spinach, tomatoes, broccoli, acorn squash, green tea, oily fish, boiled egg, turkey, apples, oatmeal, leafy greens, lentils, pumpkin seeds, avocado, cinnamon, thyme, sunflower seeds, and red wine. Avoid all junk food.

Dear, you must be able to understand concentration, attention span, recollection and distraction. If you are able to watch a movie for two hours continuously, if you are able to play a game for an hour, then you do not have any concentration problems. You can't be attentive towards your studies because you are not interested in it. You are able to watch movie and play game because you are interested in it. Human cannot be attentive towards anything for more than 10 minutes. Then you should study in such a way that your attention is continued and make the subjects are interesting to you. Effective learning techniques should help you. Recollection depends on anxiety, stress and other physical and circumstantial factors. Distractions while studying are plentiful. Hi lybrate-user you seem to be suffering from poor self confidence and low self esteem, which is making creating lot of negative feeling in you about yourself. Are you suggesting that you have a problem of addiction to both alcohol and smoking? This combination will definitely effect your sex life. The combination of alcohol and smoking is deadly for your health. I am so glad that you are seeking to get rid of these habits and that will play a major role in your recovery. You must stop them both, abruptly and immediately. If you think that you will find it very difficult, then admit yourself to a hospital and go for de-addiction: which normally lasts for about two weeks. Then follow that up with addiction counseling from a professional for at least three years to completely get rid of these habits. If this is also not enough, then admit yourself into a de-addiction center and stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the smoking and drinking just to ease the initial craving. Ultimately, it is your will power and the support that you receive from the medical fraternity and your close and dear ones.
