Kindly show me a photograph of the affected part. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Spring beds, folding beds or thick matress are harmful Do hot fomantation. Paracetamol 250mg od & sos x 5days. Health ok 1 tab odx10 (mankind). Do neck, back & general exercises. It may have to be further investigated. You will need other supportive medicines also. Make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take. If it does not give relief in 1 wk, contact me again. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem.

Dear user I advice you to take mri of lumbar spine, it may be spondylitis, take physiotherapy treatment to reduce pain and gain strength in back muscles.

What causes osteoarthritis and how to prevent it?

The condition of osteoarthritis is very common as you age. The condition is said to affect women more than men and is mainly due to the low estrogen levels that women tend to experience once they cross the age of 50.

What causes this most common form of arthritis?

The problem of osteoarthritis (oa) takes place when the soft but firm connective tissue is known as cartilage found in between bones of your joints (such as knees, ankles or elbows) deteriorates. This soft connective tissue is vital for ensuring frictionless motion of joints. During osteoarthritis, the surface of this tissue takes on a rough texture, and consequently, it wears down completely.

What can you do to reduce the risk of developing osteoarthritis?

There are several simple ways that you can employ to prevent this condition from occurring and these are:

1. Maintain a healthy body weight

Being overweight is one of the leading risk factors for osteoarthritis. The extra body weight causes additional pressure to be exerted on weight-bearing joints like knees and hips. As time passes, this additional strain damages the cartilage that acts as pads between bones of the joints. Additionally, the extra body weight also causes your body to produce a destructive protein known cytokines, leading to inflammation of the joint areas.

2. Maintain an optimal blood sugar level

High levels of glucose in your body bring about the development of certain chemicals that make cartilage rigid and more susceptible to mechanical stress. Controlling abnormal blood sugar levels is vital for reducing this risk of inflammation that can lead to the loss of cartilage and joint damage.

3. Indulge in physical activity

Indulging in any kind of physical can help in keeping your joints healthy. You need to spend about 30 minutes of each day on performing the moderately intense exercise. This will ensure not only the ability of your joints but also make stronger the muscles that hold up and steady your hips and knees.

4. Have a well-balanced diet

Including certain foods in your diet can help in reducing your chances of developing osteoarthritis. A well-balanced diet that prevents oa should consist of ample amount of omega - 3 fatty acids, vitamin d and vitamin c. While fatty fish like tuna and salmon, eggs, sunlight etc are considered to be good sources of vitamin d, strawberries, tomatoes and potatoes are just a few of the food sources that you can consider for meeting your vitamin c requirements. For meeting your omega - 3 fatty acids requirement, you can consume fish oil as well as plant or nut oils.

Hi. It looks like a case of a achilles tendinitis. In the morning before putting your foot on ground move your ankle up and down, in and out and rotate clock wise and anticlockwise. Apply gel cold pack for 15-20 min. You might have a tendency to walk on outer side of heel. If you can modify your shoe valgus support and a heel raise then it might work.

STOP SMOKING.IT AFFECTS EVERY ORGAN IN BODY ADVERSELY. Anyway you may (A) Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. (B) Use no pillow under the head. All the small joint injury take time to heal up specially finger injury and some time it will take up to 8-10 month to reduce swelling. Do regular exercises for joints and apply contrast bath(hot and cold therapy) Thanks and regards Dr. Ritesh kharnal

Massage with any oil with some salt mix with it & hot oil, then do hot fomentation, apply lepa preapered with saunth powder & water, apply warm lepa.

Are Lidocaine patches effective in treating lower back pain caused from bulging disc and arthritis?
Hi these patches are just type of lain relivers. It won't have any effect on the disc bulge and it won't get treated. These are temporary measures for your pain. If the disc bulge is severe and compressing on nerve which will then cause pain and weakness in legs then you need to get treated with surgery or start with physiotherapy first.

Actually pain at calf/leg region can be due to many reasons, commonly it is muscular in nature but it can also be due to tendons, nerves, blood vessels etc. My advise to you for initial 2-3 weeks will be: - ice packs application intensively with elevation of your limbs at night - take a short course of anti-inflammatory medication as per your body's suitability - stop your physical activity till pain completely subsides - intensive physical therapy, training and proper muscle conditioning once pain has subsided - slow resumption of physical activities with proper pre activity warm up and stretching of muscles and short increments in duration of physical activity each day as per pain tolerance. - some blood tests like serum vitamin d and serum potassium levels, esr and crp help in better diagnosis of such condition. Hello, follow advises given below 1. Avoid using computers continuously, take rest for 5 min after working for half an hour 2. In pain free interval do neck exercise (kindly learn exercise by registered trainer) 3. You can use thin pillow while sleeping so that normal posture of neck can be maintained 4. Maintain proper posture of body while watching tv/ studying kindly go for cervical x ray ap and lateral and review with reports.

It must be investigated. Get a MRI of the knee. Patient would probably need arthroscopic knee surgery. It is a very safe procedure with uniformly good results.

I am 47 year old there is a small bulging of my disc between 4 and 5 and I am suffering back pain for the three years what is the remady for this back pain.

This could be due to lumbar spondylosis with nerve root compression. Rule out diabetes & vit. D deficiency or any other metabolic disorder. Sleep on a hard bed with soft bedding on it. Use no pillow under the head. Any way take paracetamol 250mg od & sos you will need other supportive medicines also. Do back (spine) exercises make sure you are not allergic to any of the medicines you are going to take you may have to use lumbosacral support for some time. Avoid painful act/activities. Take medicines as prescribed it may have to be further investigated. Do reply back for private consultation and detailed treatment plan. Do not ignore. It could be beginning of a serious problem. If possible, see me in my clinic.

For leg pain, please follow the below advise: keep your leg raised while sitting or lying quadriceps strengthening exercises- quad clenches: lie flat on your back or sit upright on a chair with leg kept horizontally on another surface. Now, tighten the muscle on the front of the thigh by pushing your knee down. You should feel your thigh muscles clench, hold for 3 secs. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Short arcs: lie flat on your back or sit upright with your leg placed horizontally on a flat surface like a chair or bed. Place a rolled up towel under the knee. Pull your toes towards you and clench you thigh muscles. Slowly lift your foot up off the bed until your knee is straight (keep your knee resting on the towel). Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower them on the chair. Repeat 10 times twice a day. Straight leg raise: lie flat on your back. One leg and knee will be straight and other leg should be bent. Pull your toes towards you and tighten/clench the muscle on the front of the thigh, locking your knee straight. Lift your foot up in the air, about 6 inches off the bed. Hold for 3 secs and slowly lower the leg. The knee must remain straight the whole time you are doing this exercise.

Is the pain more severe when you land the foot for the first time in the morning? have you put on weight recently? reply I can help you and consult privately to have a detailed discussion to solve your problem for the heel pain try to apply voveran gel and after 20 minutes immerse your feet in a tub of hot water for 20 minutes do it in the morning and in the night.
