Pain in throat may be due to Allergy cum infection in throat. Through examination of throat is required. If required after taking throat swab for culture and sensitivity, accordingly antibiotics and Antihistamincs, Analgesics can be given.

This may be due to impacted wax. Doing some home remedy may aggravate your pain or may cause damage to ear drum. Ideally you should see your doctor or preferably ENT specialist for direct examination, diagnosis and removal of wax manually or by vacuum extractor.

The medicines you mentioned here are all sedatives in different form and this causes dryness and leads to body heat, so keep taking fruits which will hydrate your body like banana, salads, shakes, juices, fresh fruits, melon. Water melon.

I'am a 20 years old guy I started smoking a couple of years ago. Now i'am facing problems like chest pain and pqin in throat etc. Is all this because of smoking and if it is please help me to quit it.

MD - Psychiatry, MBBS
Psychiatrist, Panchkula
Hello lybrate-user. I must appreciate your concern about smoking and willingness to quit it. Regarding your throat and chest pain, you must get it checked by going to a local doctor, as it may be an infection or any other problem. Smoking certainly is very harmful in both short and long term and can lead to these type of symptoms. You must take professional help in order to quit it as you will have difficulty in initial few days which can be overcome with some medicines. Counseling also improves chances to quit smoking. Above all, you need to be very determined to quit it totally, otherwise you will keep relapsing back to smoking. Yes certainly, you can kick the butt for good! take care!

I have been advised not to use cotton buds for cleaning ears as they are harmful. So how can I clean my ears without harming them.

Thanks for your query. While cleaning the ears it is importnet not to push the ear buds too deep into the ear. If you use the ear buds make sure you do not apply too much pressure and clean the external ear superficially. If you feel too much wax has been deposited inside and you have pain or loss of hearing you can use wax softeners available in pharmacy. If you have any further query please ask.

I am suffering from sinus problem since last 1 years as soon as dust or cold gets in conditions go bad is there any cure?

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Looks like an allergic problem. The sinus openings get blocked & the sinuses do not get aerated. That is why one gets the headache. There is hyperactivity of the nasal mucosa as soon as dust or weather conditions prevail. Covering the nose when you go out might help a bit. Get a nasal endoscopic examination done to rule out any other nasal pathology. Consult an ent surgeon.

My Grandmother aged 90 fell down. She was taken to hospital with heavy nose bleeding. Blood was coming from her nose and mouth. The Doctor used gauze and splint to stop bleeding. It happened at around 9.30 am on 5th May ie yesterday. Today ie on 6th May at around 12 pm the Doctor came and removed the gauze and splint. After sometime nose bleeding started again. The Doctor told that inner artilleries or veins may be broken. He also used Vbeam laser to remove dilated vessels on outer part. She is a heart patient. She has a missing heartbeat in every minute. Please help me fast.

Hello lybrate-user do not panic firstly she has injured her nose so tiny blood vessels inside of nose over the centre partition will have opened up leading to bleeding. First aid measures like pinching the nose than application of cold compression will stop the bleeding. But the doctor has packed and later removed so nothing to worry. Just get an xray nasal bones to rule out any fracture. Take care.

I have small perforation in the eardrum of right ear. Please suggest a best treatment so that I can hear perfectly.

BHMS
Homeopath,
Perforate ear drum of long standing show poor success even on reconstruction surgery. Recent ones have some good scope of achieving success in improving hearing. Else bone conduction hearing aid will be helpful in your situation.

My wife is suffering from ear pain, and some liquid is also coming out, I saw with torch and noticed a small on side wall of ear.

MS - ENT, MBBS
ENT Specialist, Delhi
A fungal infection in ear canal can cause pain, itchiness and whitish discharge from the ears. Using medicated ear drops with antifungal, keeping ear dry and prevent water entry into ears can help. An examination and clearance of debris in ear may be required by an ENT specialist.

How To Relieve Your Sinus Infection In Under 30 Seconds

PHD

How To Relieve Your Sinus Infection In Under 30 Seconds

Especially during allergy season, wake up daily so stuffed up. One can’t breathe through their nose, their eyes itch, and it’s all around not a very fun experience.
This method to relieve sinus congestion.
Of course, this alone won’t fix the problem permanently. Kicking up the spicy food in your life and drinking lots of pure water will help relieve sinus congestion as well.

Here’s method:

Push your tongue against the roof of your mouth. Apply pressure but don’t go overboard.
Place your thumb between your eyebrows.
Press down with your thumb for about 30 seconds, applying a decent amount of pressure. Don’t push too hard though.
Your sinuses will begin to drain almost immediately.
This works because the vomer bone in your nasal passages rocks back and forth with the pressure, which loosens up the phlegm in your sinuses, allowing it to drain.

Sir I am presently taking thyronorm 100 daily for treatment of thyroid and losing memory. Itching in ear and cough in the morning.

MBBS, CCEBDM, Diploma in Diabetology
Endocrinologist, Hubli-Dharwad
Mr. Lybrate-user, if hypothyroidism is in control, then tsh should be 3 to 4 mu/l, at that level all the symptoms are well in check. So please look at tsh if not as desired then dose of thyroxine may have to be increased. Further, after 6 weeks check tsh again to see if it has returned to as mentioned above. Uncontrolled hypothyroidism can affect memory. As regards itching in ear you may have to consult an ent specialist and for cough, meet your local gp. Thanks.
