Loss of sense of smell can be due to many reasons including systemic and local factors in nose like mass or polyps in nose that can be diagnosed with ct scan. So get it done and send report. By the time start ezicas-f or flomist nasal spray twice a day.

How much can a rhinoplasty correct this? Could it be corrected to a normal nose? Also could you tell me the "estimate" cost for the whole procedure. Thanks a lot.

MS - ENT, MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Rhinoplasty can correct deformed nose. If you have a normal looking nose and if you want finer refinement, it's difficult. Cost of the surgery depends on the place and the surgeon. Usually it costs around 60k to 150k depending on the place and the surgeon.

My grandson 2.5 years old is getting blood from his nose when he wakes up in the morning since last days. We are keeping wet towel on his head or put his head below running water. Any long term remedy please ?

MS , MBBS
Ear-Nose-Throat (ENT) Specialist, Bangalore
Hi. Common reason for bleeding from nose in children is due to frequent picking of nose. Therefore the only way to get a permanent solution is to see that the child does not pick the nose. You may trim his nails also.

I am a singer. I have a stage show on the day after tomorrow. I can't sing right now because my voice is completely broken. So can you please suggest any medicine for this problem. It's really very urgent.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Hyderabad
Throat problem can happen due to weather changes, exposure to cold air or rain and certain sour food. 1. Mix some salt in warm water and do gargling. 2. Keep a clove and slowly chew it. 3. Drinking water frequently will reduce congestion if any. 4. Avoid fried and oily foods.

Hello Sir, I have immunity problem, always sneezing and nose snivelling every time. What to do?

MBBS
General Physician, Cuttack
1. Do steam inhalation with karvol plus inhalant capsule 2-3 times daily 2. Put otrivin nasal drop one drop three times daily 3. Take one tablet oflevo cetrizine at bed time 4. If you have recurrent attack of sneezing, you may be having sinusitis or allergic rhinitis 5. Take x ray/ct scan of pns to confirm sinusitis and consult ent specialist for advice and treatment 6. If sinusitis is excluded, then it is due to allergic rhinitis, do an allergy test after consulting allergy specialist/immunologist to find out the cause of allergy and follow the treatment and advice accordingly.

I am suffering from dizziness since last 8 months mri and other test are normal and it is for 24 hours medicine doesn't work pls I need answer from nuroligist that it will be lifetime I am 28 years old I have hypothyroid and when it was 150 I started taking pills and thyropale tablet and it came down within 15 days and my dizziness and vertigo problem started and I took so much tention of thyroid those days what is the cause behind my chronic dizziness and vertigo.

DNB (Radiodiagnosis), DMRD, MBBS
Radiologist, Bangalore
Hi, thanks for writing in to us. I have read through your query in detail. It looks like there is no problem in your brain if your mri scan is normal. However many people continue to have symptoms of vertigo due to problems in the inner ear. The inner ear contains the vestibular system which participates in maintaining balance and gait. There are tiny hair cells in the ear which are surrounded by fluid. Changes in the characteristics of these hair cells and fluid might give rise to chronic vertigo. Chronic ear infection is also to be tested. Please consult an ent specialist and get test done for vertigo and nystagmus. Hope your blood investigations are normal. Regards,
