The HC at birth grows at the rate of 2 cm per month in the first 3 months and 1 Cm per month in next 3 months and thereafter 0.5 Cm till one year and you have to monitor it and if if it is less you need to check up.

How to prepare ubtan for babies and which oil should I use in summer for body massage of 8 month old baby.

Diploma in Child Health (DCH), MBBS

How to prepare ubtan for babies and which oil should I use in summer for body massage of 8 month old baby.
Ubtan or dry bengal gram powder is used to remove excessive oil on the body. Depending upon area of your living any locally available and traditionally used oil is good. It should be applied 30 minutes before bathing, not afterwards or before.

Hi, My angel is of one month old, mother milk is not sufficient for her, Please suggest. How can we calm her appetite.
Dear Lybrate user please be calm. Do not worry. Feed the child whenever they need milk for just 10 mins and then if need be you can feed in 1.5 hours. Frequency of feeding will produce more milk. You also have to eat well, Drink 3 to 4 glasses of milk. Eat dhal in your diet, Take vegetables and fruit. Take oats, garlic as rasam. Be calm everything will be fine.

If child is mentally normal and having normal hearing, then you should wait for some more time. Be careful and do not over stress your child regarding speech

I am a 23 year old lady, I used to feed my baby and its been 14months for I am feeding her now when I stopped feeding her my left breast which my daughter used to suck more became as hard as rock, I could feel the hardness and due to milk filled in it got enlarged. I kept on controlling my pain for 2days. But then it was unbearable so somebody told me to pour out some milk out of it, so I pressed it hardly and poured out a lot of milk. I found my pain lesser and felt light but my left breast has become larger than the other, I wanna ask is it normal?

Pediatrician, Pune
If the supply is more than the demand, it is likely to cause problems, there should be an equilibrium, try to breast feed from both breasts, alternatively. As the left breast is producing more milk, it has become larger than the other, once breast feeding is stopped, things will be back to normal, try to give food to the baby as much as possible, breast feeding should reduce by some time.
