Identify the mid point between the ankle bone and tendons and give pressure with a blunt edge on either side of your foot for 2 minutes. Also give pressure in the web between 2nd and 3rd finger from your toe for 2 minutes. Finally give a good massage for both feet in hot water. Identify the dipping portion on the back of your knee folding. Press this dip with both middle fingers and hold your knee with your thumbs for support. Please swing 20 times morning and evenings. Give pressure the dipping point on the portion between the thumb and the index finger on the back of the palm. Press and release for 15 times where the pain is more. This will solve the problem.

Hello, It seems as if you are having Osteoporosis with arthritic changes in joints. You will have to continue with rigorous exercises to strengthen muscles around knee, keep your calcium and vitamin d levels normal. Also your haemoglobin is low so take green vegetables and a haematinic on advise of a physician to increase your Hb levels.

Whenever I start running I feel pain in my calf. I do not after 1 km. Is it because I run on toe? Should I run on toe.

MBBS
General Physician, Fatehabad
Whenever I start running I feel pain in my calf. I do not after 1 km. Is it because I run on toe?
Should I run on toe.
Hi lybrate-user, Non-traumatic calf pain usually follows a fairly predictable pattern – the pain develops when running and gradually worsens as the run continues. The calf may feel tight and even stop the runner from going any further. After running the pain subsides a little but the calf often continues to feel tight for a day or so. Commonly when not running symptoms are minimal. There are a few potential diagnoses for this including superficial posterior compartment syndrome and ‘sciatica’ but the most common reason I see clinically is simply fatigue of the calf muscles. This leads to the question of why are my calf muscles becoming fatigued? Every muscle has it’s different level of strength and endurance, exceed that level and it will usually start to become painful and tight. The answer to why this happens usually has 2 parts to it: 1. The calf is being overloaded 2. The calf muscles are weak or lack endurance. For the treatment, so some calf muscle exercises: Rather than choose between racing flats and running barefoot, doing some eccentric calf exercises off of a stair can also bolster your calf strength during wintertime when you can’t get outside to do some strides or jogging in spikes. The “eccentric heel drop” exercise that is helpful when you’ve got Achilles tendonitis is also a good all-around strength exercise for your calves. 1. The straight-knee eccentric heel drop. 2. The bent knee eccentric heel drop. Hope this helps. Good Luck.

I am 21 years old, yesterday I sliped from the stairs and I got savior pain at backside. Is this pain will raise any problems in future?

Dip. SICOT (Belgium), MNAMS, DNB (Orthopedics), MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hi thanks for your query and welcome to lybrate. Due to mechanism of injury being a fall, I will advise you to get x ray of affected region of spine done so that I can see and rule out a bony injury. Normally if initial injury is well managed, then it should cause no problems in the future. Do not hesitate to contact me if you need any further assistance. Thanks & regards Dr Akshay Kumar Saxena
