Mere breast me itching ki problem hai nipple me kuch white liquid type bhi lagta hai I am not married what is that? Please advise.

MBBS, MBA - Health Care Administration
General Physician, Gurgaon
The white discharge from the nipple along with itching should be taken seriously and you need urgent medical examination by your doctor. Serious ailments like cancer need to be ruled out before you undergo any treatment. Is there any associated lump in the breast. It is better you consult your family physician for better understanding of the disease and treatment.

Pregnancy - How It Affects Women Sexual Desire?

Pregnancy - How It Affects Women Sexual Desire?

Did you know that pregnancy can alter your libido, since it is influenced by biological, psychological and social factors? It is no surprise that the numerous hormonal changes and the emotional roller-coaster that a woman experiences during pregnancy, can change her desire for sex. Of course, no two woman's sexual drive is the same and hence the matter is very individual and unique for every woman.

But some common bodily trends are observed during the various trimesters of pregnancy:

1. During the first trimester of pregnancy, some women are put off by sex when the symptoms of nausea, vomiting and tiredness kick in. This can be blamed on the rise in the levels of the hormones estrogen and progesterone. A woman would rather just catch up on lost sleep and lie in bed by herself, getting all the rest she can.

2. The second trimester brings relief in the symptoms felt during the first trimester. Some women experience a surge in their libido, as energy levels improve and they feel relatively more relaxed.

3. The third trimester brings with it weight gain, back pain and other symptoms which can lower a woman's sexual drive again.

4. Besides the typical changes that are brought on in the different trimesters, quite a few women report a heightened desire for sex. With all those pregnancy hormones flowing, it's understandable. During pregnancy, a woman's breasts get bigger and more sensitive. The vulva also becomes engorged from extra blood flow and even more sensitive, which could lead to more enjoyable pregnancy sex.

5. Another fact is that, with no longer having to worry about contraception during this time, both partners welcome the fact that they can have sex anytime they want or without worrying about the obligations of ovulation.

So basically, a woman can easily embrace her sexual desire during this special time of pregnancy. As long as a doctor doesn't suggest otherwise, it is perfectly safe for a woman to revel in her new found desire and have sex with her partner until the baby arrives. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a Sexologist.

Hey, I'm 17 years old and I have engaged in sexual intercourse. It has been 11 days. I'm 3 days late on my period. I took a pregnancy test that said negative but I still haven't got my period. What should I do?

Homeopath, Secunderabad
Wait for some time. Sometimes it may get delayed. Repeat the test again after sometime. Be health conscious and go for regular health checkup at least once a year. Be alert and aware and take good care of your health. Go to a gynecologist if needed.

She diagnosed stone in gallbladder 2 years ago. Doctor advised operation. But operation was not done. Now she is pregnant of 2 months. Pl advice will anaesthesia harm the child in womb during operation? Can operation be done during pregnancy in this stage.

MBBS, DGO, MD, Fellowship in Gynae Oncology
Gynaecologist, Delhi
It not advisable to do any surgery in first trimester of pregnancy, Given the risks, any surgery during pregnancy is generally avoided. But if the inflammation is severe, if there's an infection, or if the colic is acute, an operation may be necessary to prevent more serious complications. If you need gallbladder surgery, it will probably be done laparoscopically. In general, the goal of treatment during pregnancy is to reduce the symptoms and complications, and then treat the disease itself after pregnancy. If you had gallbladder disease that was controlled during pregnancy and no surgery was required, it's important to have a follow-up evaluation. Symptoms can occur in the postpartum period or later in life, so have an evaluation when you're not in pain.

Dear Lybrate user, The menstrual cycle is usually disturbed on intake of tablets for medical abortion. One cannot usually predict. However, it is usually around one month after Medical abortion. Wait for few days. Do home pregnancy test if you had intercourse in between. If not, get ultrasound of lower abdomen done.

My wife was pregnant now and it is 4 rd month now. As per reports, doctor said that she is having Thyroid problem. Initially, thyroid level is 6.75 (2 month), she took 50 MCG thyronorm. Again TSH test has been done and level went up to 9.15. So, doctor suggested to take thyronorm 100 MCG. We continued this dosage for 1 month. As per recent report, TSH level is now 0.88. Doctor suggested to continue Thyronorm 100 MCG. Please advise is this is the right dosage? Or we need to switch to Thyronorm 50 MCG? Kindly advise.

Renuji, recommended tsh levels just before conception and through out pregnancy have to be in the range of 0.1 to 2 milli units. (1st trimester 0.1 to 2.5 milli units, 2nd trimester 0.3 to 3 milli units and 3rd 0.3 to 3.5 milli units). So please continue present dosage. Otherwise fetal growth and pregnancy outcome will be affected. Thanks for the question. In fact your tsh levels should have been corrected even before the conception itself.

It may be due to stress. Many a times the mencesget delayed due to stress. If you have done unprotected intercourse then only there will be a problem of pregnency. If you have done test for pregnencey and it is negative wait for more 8 days and do it again. If it is negative she will get her mences once is stress free. Other wise consult a doctor.

Dear user. Vagina is a storehouse of many germs which could cause many diseases. You should understand that vagina cannot be cleaned completely. Therefore it is not advised to lick or suck vagina. Though you can always do that if you can ensure that it is perfectly clean and hygienic. Take care.

Hello doc Yesterday me n my bf had done our first time sexual activity but we didn't use any contraception at that time. After 4 hr I take I pill Doc please tell me is that safe n beneficial to avoid pregnancy due to unprotected sex or I should take something else more?

MBBS, MD Psychiatry, DNB Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Nagpur
Method of contraception depends on how frequently and what type of sexual activity you have. I-pill is an emergency contraceptive pill having some side effects like irregular menstrual blessings, pain, nausea etc. Hence their use is discouraged on a frequent basis. Barrier contraceptives like condoms for male partners are safe and provide 70-80% protection from pregnancy.
