I have a gum problem in lower jaw gums. They have become almost black in colour. Please tell.
Kindly consult a dentist in person for further suggestion. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical curettage or gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. You may consult me in person.

My teeth are sensitive to any kind of food because of which I am hardly able to chew. I have been advised to use Sensodyne Repair toothpaste. However I wish there was a process where the teeth could have been given additional coating of enamel of a permanent nature. Is it possible?

I am 31, had braces 2 years back however i wasnt very serious with the retainers after the braces were removed. So some gap has appeared. Can it be corrected by putting on the braces again. How long can it roughly take.Is age an issue?

BDS
Dentist, Kolkata
Yes age is a very important factor. In your case retainers were very important. If the spacing is generalized then there is no alternative other than wearing braces but if the spacing/gap is between two particular teeth you can go for composite fillings. Also consult your dentist regarding composite laminates.

I am 22 years old man bleeding off the teeth before 1 month? what should I do?

MDS - Pediatric Dentistry , Certificate Course in Conscious Sedation, BDS
Dentist,
I am 22 years old man bleeding off the teeth before 1 month? what should I do?
Thank you for your question. Bleeding on brushing is an indication that you have gum inflammation. It is a condition called gingivitis. Periodic dental check up every 6 months, cleaning of gums and teeth (known as scaling and root planing or oral prophylaxis) will help keep your gums healthy and strong. Kindly see a specialist as soon as possible. Bleeding may also be indicative of a medical condition elsewhere in the body.

Hi. you should immediately visit a dentist to solve your problem till the time it becomes more worse. Because sensodyne is only giving you a temporary relief. Until and unless the tooth is not being treated properly the sensitivity wont go.

Hello, sir chewing problems can also be caused due to unhealthy gums around teeth, so get cleaning procedures done yearly and use gum paint massages to stregthen your gums. If needed restorations or crowns can be given where the enamel has chipped or broken.

How to make Teeth white (a)Avoid Certain Foods/Drinks When Possible: We’re not asking you to give up your morning coffee, just to reduce the intake of the above foods as much as possible. Sometimes simply being aware can help us make better choices. (b)Drink Water: After you’ve consumed a tooth-staining food or drink try to immediately follow it with a glass of water. Swirling water around your mouth can drastically help clear away the acids or staining. This simple step is free and easy, and can drastically help reduce tooth discoloration. (c)Proper Dental Hygiene: Proper brushing, flossing and regular dental checkups help keep teeth healthy for a lifetime. Develop these habits early and you’re less likely to have dental problems down the line. (d)Teeth Whitening: The good news is that there are many options available to whiten teeth. Tiny food particles that get stuck in the spaces between the teeth and gumline need to be cleaned before they transform into plaque. Proper flossing helps in removing these unwanted substances from the areas where the toothbrush cannot reach.

You can exercise for healthier gums as well. Gently bite down so as to make sure that your teeth make a clinking sound when they meet. Repeat this 30 to 40 times continously. This exercise will stimulate the flow of blood and will keep your gums healthy.

My mom have follow gums with bad breath, sometimes it gives out blood What should she do.

MDS - Oral & Maxillofacial Surgery

My mom have follow gums with bad breath, sometimes it gives out blood
What should she do.
•Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. •Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. •Reduce your alcohol consumption. •Stop smoking. •Cut down on coffee. •Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. •Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. •Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. •Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. •Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. •Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. •Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. •If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. •Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. •You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.
