Respected Doctor Sir/Madam, I am a 28 year old male, me and my wife who is 25 are trying to have a baby from last 3 months but have not been successful yet. I was taking finasteride tablet for hairloss and have quit it 4 months ago as I came to know it can reduce male fertility. My semen is also not pure white but it is somewhat thin and watery. While my wife's discharge volume is also low. Should We try for some more time or do We need to get a fertility test very soon? Are there any home remedies for fertility enhancements for both male and female. What are the methods and aprx costs of clinical fertility enhancements. Your guidance and inputs are highly appreciated. Thanks a lot in advance.

1) Pregnancy can occur only on one day of cycle when woman ovulates so when you say tried 3 months it means you had 3 trials. Nature should be given 12 to 24 months.) If impatient any time investigations can be started first non-invasive and invasive later. In that semen is examined so till then don't bother. 3) No home remedies, 4) Clinical fertility enhancing reports and treatment is time consuming and cost differs a lot.

I experience Burning sensation inside my vagina After having sex with my boy frnd. Frequent urination also common during that time. We use to have occasional intercourse and this burning was common earlier during hot summer days. Now is this because of summer days or due to sexual intercourse. Please help me to get rid off this. Hello Lybrate User, Different types of infections may cause itching or an abnormal discharge in the vagina. It is associated itching or irritation. Causes include - Infections spread during sexual contact. These include chlamydia, gonorrhea, and trichomoniasis. Vaginal yeast infection, caused by a fungus. Normal bacteria that live in the vagina that overgrow, causing itching and fishy odor. These are few reasons behind vaginal discharge and redness and itching. Follow this tips - * Keep your genital area clean and dry when you have vaginitis. Make sure to seek help from health care provider for the best treatment. * Avoid soap and just rinse with water to clean yourself. Soak in a warm but not hot bath may help your symptoms. Dry thoroughly afterward. * Avoid using hygiene sprays, fragrances, or powders in the genital area. Use pads and not tampons while you have an infection. * Allow more air to reach your genital area. Wearing loose-fitting clothes and not wearing panty hose. Wearing cotton underwear (rather than synthetic), or underwear that has a cotton lining in the crotch. Cotton increases airflow and decreases moisture buildup. * Know how to properly clean their genital area while bathing or showering. Wipe properly after using the toilet -- always from front to back. Wash thoroughly before and after using the bathroom. Along with that take homeopathic treatment. When a woman experiences no relief from external treatments, a homeopathic remedy to balance the vital force will help the particular infection. If you want to take a homeopathic treatment consult me privately on Lybrate. Take care.

My mother was undergone radical hysterectomy surgery on last month. Doctor has advised for radiotherapy treatment. But she is preferring homeopathy medicines. Please help me with this case as soon as possible.

Homeopathy medicine is not going to cure her residual cancer from her body and there is no doubt about it 100%. Radiotherapy will cure her cancer completely. There is no pain during radiotherapy.

Hi I am 31 year old, planning to conceive within a month itself, Please guide me. I have hyperthyroid taking thyronorm 75 mcg daily. I have a regular menstrual cycle of 30 days. Also suggest me a good sperm friendly lubricant that would not disturb me in conception. Currently I am using vaseline and it is very comfortable, I use it in the outer opening only and some on my husband, would that affect us in conception or is it fine. I would be comfortable with olive or canola oil rather than other medicated jelly. Please suggest.

Hi, assuming your follicular growth and ovulation is normal, I need more information about your duration of marriage, previous conceptions, diabetes or polcystic ovaries etc, which can be evaluated by investigating. Hope your husband's sperm count and all its parameters are within normal limits. If you are ovulating well, you will not require lubricants since your own female hormones will do the job!

IUI- intra uterine insemination done for infertility. Wait for urine test to become positive on or after 34 days. B HcG test can be done in blood a week before cycle to reassure you about embryo implantation. You can get this test done, I am sure your Dr. must have suggested you same. Pain is not related to procedure and I would suggest you,not to take any painkiller for the sake of danger to developing fetus.

Your doctor is right. Trust her. This can be just a finding on ultrasound. One of the kidneys may look enlarged but it is functioning normally, otherwise it would have shown in the baby in the form of retention of water.

Hi, Im 27 year old male and going to get married in few months. I'm virgin. How many times I and my wife need to have sex to have a baby. Is it safe to have sex once in a week. If I insert sperms inside my wife's vagina every time we have sex, how much times we need to do this to have a baby.

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
To get pregnant you need to have regular sex i. E. 3-4 times a week for one full year before you start seeking medical help. If you want to make her pregnant fast then you can follow this calender method. If a women’s menstrual cycle varies from 26days to 31days cycle, The shortest cycle (26 days) minus 18 days = 8th day. The longest cycle (31 days) minus 10 days=21st day Thus, 8th to 21st day of each cycle counting from first day of menstrual period is considered as fertile period.

Sunflower Oil Vs Groundnut Oil - Which Cooking Oil You Must Use?

Sunflower Oil Vs Groundnut Oil - Which Cooking Oil You Must Use?

Sunflower oil vs groundnut oil- which oil should you cook your daily meals in?

Both, sunflower and groundnut oil are preferred for cooking by chefs and homemakers alike due to their ability to enhance the flavour of the food. But which one of them is a healthier choice? Here’s a comparative analysis of the benefits offered by both oils to help you decide, which one you should be using for cooking.

1. Fat content
There’s no clear winner here. Sunflower oil is a rich source of polysaturated fats, which help keep your heart healthy and decrease the amount of bad cholesterol in your body. On the other hand, groundnut oil is rich in monounsaturated and polyunsaturated fats, which protect you from heart diseases. Groundnut oil also contains omega-6 fatty acids, which help in the proper functioning of your nervous system.

2. Nutritional values
Sunflower oil contains different nutrients like Vitamin E, B1, magnesium, phosphorus, copper, zinc, iron, calcium, manganese and folate. The nutrient content of groundnut oil is also somewhat similar including iron, magnesium, potassium, copper, Vitamin E, B6, calcium and zinc. So, both are more or less tied at the same spot.

3. Health benefits
Both of them offer a host of health benefits. Sunflower oil can help in reducing the risk of cardiovascular diseases, inflammation, asthma and high blood pressure, while improving digestion and preventing headaches. Comparatively, regular consumption of groundnut oil can keep you healthy by increasing fertility, enhancing your memory, lowering level of bad cholesterol, diminishing chances of cancer, obesity, heart diseases, depression and by keeping your blood sugar level balanced.

It’s considered to be a healthy practise to keep switching your cooking oils. This ensures that your body can get the benefits of different essential fatty acids as no single oil can satisfy the fatty acid requirement of the human body.

What if white fucking we discharge outside vagina without using condom. Is there any risk.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
It is very risky to do so. This technique is termed as coitus interruptus and is highly risk as sometimes the precum (a prostratic discharge just before ejaculation) that discharges without knowledge before ejaculation contains few sperms and hence accidents can happen -------------so be smart but not oversmart because accidents do happen but do not invite accidents to happen------------------

Chikungunya Fever - Causes and Treatment

MBBS, MD - General Medicine
General Physician, Gurgaon
Chikungunya Fever - Causes and Treatment

The tiny mosquito can pose a lot of health issues. While malaria was the only dreaded disease until some time ago, the incidence of chikungunya is constantly on the rise. In fact, the nonspecific symptoms and absence of vaccination make it extremely difficult to prevent and diagnose this in the early stages.

Causes: First described in the African continent (Tanzania), the word chikungunya means “to walk bent over” in the Makonde or Kimakonde language. This appearance is because of the effect on bones, leading to severe bone and joint pains. More than 90% of the people who are bitten by the infected mosquito develop symptoms.

Chikungunya is a member of the Togaviridae family and is transmitted by bites of the infected female mosquito. In rare cases, the infection can spread through blood transfusions of the infected person.

After entering the bloodstream, it divides and multiplies rapidly in different types of cells including epithelial cells, endothelial cells, and connective tissue cells. These produce the symptoms including the rashes and the joint pains.

Symptoms: The challenge with chikungunya is that there is no specific, telltale symptom indicative of the condition. The patient develops nonspecific symptoms as below, somewhere between 4 to 7 days after the infected mosquito bite.

  1. High fever (as high as 40 degrees Celsius)

  2. Pain involving multiple joints which can be debilitating

  3. Headache

  4. Nausea and vomiting

  5. Muscle pain

  6. Skin rashes

  7. Swelling around the joints

  8. Conjunctivitis

Though the disease is not fatal, it can be quite limiting. The fever and other symptoms may disappear within a week, but the joint pains can last up to 6 months to a year.

Diagnosis: A blood test is the most diagnostic test for confirming the disease. Dengue fever and Zika virus need to be ruled out, as their presentation is very similar.

Treatment: There is no definitive treatment for this condition and it is mostly symptomatic.

  1. The patient is advised rest to recover from the fever and fatigue

  2. Pushing fluids, including juices and electrolytes is recommended to prevent dehydration

  3. Fever needs to be managed with antipyretic medications

  4. Joint pains are managed with nonsteroidal painkillers

  5. Avoid aspirin as it increases the tendency to bleed

  6. Physiotherapy is recommended to improve severe bone/joint pains to improve mobility and reduce swelling

  7. Check with your doctor to see if your regular medications need to be revisited

There is no vaccine to prevent chikungunya, though virus like particles that can be a potential vaccine are in the final stages of trials. Prevention of mosquito bites is also highly recommended as an important step in controlling the disease. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.
