Less likely. Wait patiently till next test is done. Hopefully it is negative. No point worrying at this stage. Relax and do your studies, later once the test is there the results will be what will be .But less likely to be positive unless you get your partners HIV test by tracing her if you need instant result.

Yes, if your liver enzymes are not elevated and you have recurrent jaundice, then gilbert syndrome is a possibility. Relax, it is generally a harmless condition if not associated with other diseases. If you want to consult me, ask a private chat/call/video call through lybrate.

Fetal heart sound can be heard around 10-12 weeks by fetal doppler. You can be able to know about it as early as 8 weeks through fetal ultrasound.

I am a 43 year old male suffering from asthma since 1997. Between 2013-2015 I was regularly on high doses of steroids to manage my asthma which I have since reduced. Somewhere around that time I also developed moderate sleep apnea for which I use a CPAP machine. A slight high uric acid content was detected last year with a report from Thyrocare - about 6.9. I also had very low Vitamin D which I managed with supplements and time in the sun. I had developed IBS which I managed with high fiber diet and is now only occasional flares if I eat outside food. In the last 2-3 years my asthma has been difficult to manage but also accompanied by continuous problems of muscle weakness (repeated cramps on small effort) and bone pain. With the steroids I also have put on weight (98 kgs now at a height of 5 feet 9 inches - about 20 kgs overweight) However the body/ bone pain with water eyes and tiredness is impacting my day to day functioning. I am worried that exercising might hurt me easily by mistake so am wary of doing excessive effort. I believe my immunity is also very low which makes me susceptible to infections very quickly and then repeated cycle of wheezing/ asthma - interrupting my exercise efforts. How do I manage to work through this repeated cycle and build a better health? What can I do to improve my situation.

You need to improve immunity & that can be done well with ayurvedic suvarna rasayan treatment .kindly consult. Do's 1) close windows at night to avoid pollens 2) take regular medicines 3) do exercise and pranayama daily 4) diet should be healthy 5) keep bedroom clean and dust free 6) regular checkup at clinic 7) use a light color to wall as well curtains.(especially bedroom) 8) dinner should be taken before sunset. 9) Use mask while going out or apply coconut oil to nostrils 10) carry inhaler all the time (emergency) 11) massage to the chest and back warm with oil, afterward take hot fomentation. DON'TS 1) smoking -active or passive 2) exposure to allergens air pollution 3) avoid visit to gardens 4) stop the self medication. Paracetamol also increases the risk of asthma by 27 %. 5) Avoid outside food 6) avoid preserved packed food 7) oily food should be avoided 8) cold drinks and ice-creams. Al issue related to health like IBS, asthma, GRDS can be solved by ayurveda.

All About Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD)

Gynaecologist, Mumbai
All About Polycystic Ovarian Disease (PCOD)

A rising number of teenage girls in the country are getting affected with Poly Cystic Ovarian Disease or PCOD. Though an advanced menarche has become very rampant these days, there are many young women who are suffering from a delay in menarche, which in turn is leading to PCOD as opined by gynaecologists. Obesity and sedentary lifestyle among young people have caused a rapid doubling of PCOD cases in the past five to eight years.

Occurrence and Symptoms:

Gynaecologists report that they get at least 15 fresh instances of PCOD cases and a considerable number of teenagers aged 16-17 are not getting their menarche. Such patients are recommended to take a strictly balanced diet, which will help them to lose weight. Initially, their mothers think that they would experience their menarche in proper time, but some girls are diagnosed with PCOD when taken to a family gynaecologist. Even worse, they could never imagine that their obesity can pave the way for such a grave health issue. PCOD can cause numerous other problems like delayed and irregular menses, rapid weight gain and tremendous difficulty in losing weight, developing acne and blocked skin pores. Furthermore, it leads to thinning of hair and excessive growth of hair on chest, back and face. Infertility, continual miscarriage, high blood pressure and high blood sugar are also common with PCOD.

Help yourself with the right diet:

There is no proven evidence regarding the cause of PCOD though gynaecologists are of the opinion that some females possess a predisposition to this disease and it may run hereditarily in the family. You can alleviate your PCOD symptoms to a considerable extent by regulating your diet properly. Have loads of fruits and green leafy vegetables and try to abstain from dairy products as many experts believe that dairy products are a direct cause of an increase in insulin levels, which can aggravate skin troubles along with other PCOD symptoms. Avoiding red meat and eating lean meat instead will help the condition and reduce the chances of infertility. It is always recommended to avoid hydrogenated and saturated fats, which are normally found in animal and dairy-based food. Try to put a stop to cheese, cottage cheese, clarified butter, pork, lamb, beef, etc. and certain baked products like cookies, cakes and fudges as they will trigger a rise in your blood sugar and cholesterol levels.

PCOD is such a condition, which you can never afford to overlook. If you had been facing any of the common symptoms, then it is probably time to pay a consult to a responsive gynaecologist.

Dear user, You should be able to distinguish between disappointment and depression. Disappointment also brings on symptoms identical to depression but they are short lived. Were you disappointed in the near past? Depressive disorder or depression is a neuro chemical disorder. Suicidal tendency is one main symptom of depression. You must be able to distinguish between mental disease and mental disorder. Your problem is a mental disorder. Not a mental disease. These mental disorders are usually treated with a combination of medicines and other means like awareness, meditation, Psychotherapy techniques, life style changes etc. Take care.
