My wife is 20 years old and whenever she gets period she loses a lot of blood and she feels very tired . Is that normal? My biggest question is that she bleeds a lot and blood is very thick that it is not being able to be absorbed by the pad. Is it normal?

If painless bleeding then its normal but if, she feel severe pain during menses then it may be due to pelvic infection or pelvic pathological disease. So, get an ultrasound of lower abdomen.

Gonorrhea - Facts You Must Know About It?

Gonorrhea is a bacterial disease that is transmitted through intimate contact. If not treated on time, gonorrhea can become serious. Every year millions of people get affected with this disease across the globe. The area of infection predominantly involves the anus, vagina, penis and urethra.

Symptoms of gonorrhea
Gonorrhea often shows no symptoms. It is found that only two out of ten women show signs of gonorrhea and one out of ten men show signs of gonorrhea. This disease can take as long as 14 days to show any signs of its existence. Some common signs in women include menstrual irregularities, throwing up, abdominal pain, painful intercourse, swelling of the vulva, frequent urination and yellowish vaginal discharge. Some common signs among men include burning sensation while urinatingand discharge of pus during urination. Some common symptoms include itching of the anus, throat selling, oral infection and painful bowel movements.

Gonorrhea complications

  1. Complications in pregnancy: Apart from premature labour and stillbirth, gonorrhea can get passed on to the fetus as well. Some other symptoms include eye infection and joint and blood infection. If the fetus gets an eye infection, antibiotics drop is prescribed by the Doctor.
  2. Infertility: If gonorrhea is not treated for a long time, it can lead to infertility. Women might find infections in regions such as the uterus, fallopian tube and ovaries. Men might find infection in their testicles, urethra, etc. It can lead to a condition known as the epididymitis. If this condition is not treated, men can become permanently infertile.
  3. Arthritis: Arthritis can lead to a condition known as the disseminated gonococcal infection (DGI). This is a condition, which leads to arthritis or soring of skin. Women are more prone to developing this condition than men. Some common symptoms include fever, joint pain and fever. If DGI is not treated on time, it can lead to permanent damage of joints.

How is gonorrhea treated?
Gonorrhea is easily treatable and medication involves antibiotics along with other drugs. In case a pregnant woman gets diagnosed with gonorrhea, antibiotics are not prescribed. It is strictly advised not to involve in any sexual activities while the treatment is underway. Some of the common precautions that should be taken while undergoing treatment involves the following:

  1. Taking the medication on time. At times, symptoms go away, but completing the full medication course as prescribed by the doctor is required in order to completely get rid of the bacteria.
  2. Gonorrhea medicines should not be shared with anyone
  3. Consulting the doctor every three months to ensure that the disease is fully cured
  4. To make sure that your partner gets treated along with you in order to mitigate the risk of recurrence. If you wish to discuss about any specific problem, you can consult a doctor and ask a free question.

Doctor. May STD or STi is catch us through the oral sex. How I recognize this. And how we get treated.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
There isn’t any one time frame where all STDs and HIV should up, therefore, there isn’t a simple answer to this question. If you have had oral sex and are worried about an STD or HIV, you should get tested 1 to 2 weeks after and again 90 days later. This is because different STDs are detected at different times: Chlamydia - anytime from 1 week to 3 weeks Gonorrhea - anytime from 2 days to 30 Syphilis - anytime from 10 days to 3 months Herpes – anytime from 2 weeks to 3 months Hepatitis B – anytime from 3 weeks to 2 months Hepatitis C – anytime up to 6 months HIV – anytime from 4 weeks to 3 months Once you get tested, you should abstain from sex with anyone until you have received the results. Treatment depends on the results.

To check for incomplete abortion please do an ultrasonography to check for retained products of conception. If its not complete, you may need a procedure under supervision of a gynecologist.

If you donot have any problem in contact then no need to worry about tightness. For pcod thing get follicular study done. This will indicate whether ovulation is occurring or not. If there is no ovulation then get hormone test done.
