I have a problem in back bone. My backbone have pane in the middle of wrist to right legs.

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello, first of all you should know what is backache and by which factors it caused and aggravated. The usual cause of low back pain is the sedentary lifestyle that we lead these days. There is hardly any movement. walking, running and cycling like activities are also not a part of our daily routine. To add to it, our diet consists more and more of junk food. Fresh fruits, vegetables and high fibre foods are consumed less and less. These daily practices lead to obesity. The increased body weight puts lot of pressure on the spine which has to bear all the extra unwanted weight. The back muscles which are already weak due to lack of exercise and wrong posture are unable to cope with this increased load. This causes pain in the back muscles. Management for Back Pain:-Along with medicines for relieving pain, one needs to identify the cause and correct it. This may require some medicines or some correction in your posture or reducing weight or improving your lifestyle. At the same time, there is a need to work on the local muscle strengthening. Back muscles need to be strengthened so that they can bear the weight of the upper body. For this exercises of the back muscles are very helpful. Regular walking is also very helpful as it is a wholesome exercise of the body, improves blood circulation and helps lose weight. Most importantly if you are overweight then losing weight is an important part of the whole treatment plan .Long term use of painkillers for low back pain is harmful Treatment for back pain:- Homoeopathic medicines are very helpful. They not only treat the acute stages but are also used for the treatment of chronic back pain.Selection of the exact remedy depends upon the individual symptoms of the person. So share the complete symptom picture for the proper treament. In the mean time take Arnica 200, 3 drops in the morning and Rhus tox. 200, 3 drops at night for 7 days.Take care.

Sir I have A back pain since last five days I have 39 years old I take too medicine but all vain plzz sugest me some good tablets.

Ayurveda, Ambala
First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

My wife has diabetic since last 10 years, she gets pain in the heels of the legs very often. What is the remedy?

MBBS, MD - Medicine
General Physician, Delhi
Most probably it is plantar fascitis if she feels pain on taking first few steps in the morning. Best way to get rid of it is do some stretching exercises before getting down from bed. You can search d exercises on youtube by typing plantar fascitis.

Hi, I am shalini K from Bangalore. I am asking for my parents, they both have joint knee pains always. Kindly give some curable suggestion.

Physiotherapist, Indore
Hello lybrate-user the kind of pain your parents experiencing are because of aging, it is generally called as osteoarthritis. If its on its early stage it could be curable with proper physiotherapy and if you want permanent relief you could go for stem cell treatment, if joints are deteriorated than joint replacement is the only option left. Regards.

I am 66 year old and having pain in knees and legs, not getting strength much. But I do all the work, driving walking. I have no other problems. I take pain killers. But I am not feeling comfortable with my legs. I shall be great full, if you suggest some thing so that I could get relief from this problem. Regards.

Homeopath, Faridabad
Hello. We can't reverse the established pathology back, but we can control the process in the stage it is so that it wouldn't grow further. Apply Bakson’s Rheum Aid oil gently (2-3 times a day) and take orally Bakson’s Rheum-Aid syrup/ 1 tablespoon thrice daily. Also, increase your dietary intake of calcium which is present in green leafy vegetables, milk, milk products, sea food, white legumes, dried fig, black-eyed peas, almonds, oranges, seasame seeds. And vitamin D which is essential for absorption of calcium in our body and is synthesized naturally after getting exposed to sunlight, so early morning sunlight for 10-15 min. 2-3 times a day is mandatory. Apart from this, do walk daily along with physiotherapy will also help you.

I have back problem continuous pain when sitting and drive bike in long place not any improvement after taken most of medicines plEase give any suggestion.

Fellowship in Joint Replacement, MS - Orthopaedics
Orthopedist, Dhamtari
Backpain at your age can be due to lot of causes. Mostly long sitting activities can lead to weakness of back and neck muscles resulting in pain. You should do back muscle strengthening exercises and postural adjustment. Hot bag and diclofenac gel are also useful use vitamin d supplements if long standing symptoms are there then you need to be investigated. Get x rays of lumbosacral spine and show.

I am suffering from severe to moderate knee pain from last 2 years. I visited my family Doc couple of times and he prescribed Glucosamine and Calcium Caps for 1 months but it didn't work. After small research in glass I found that Diacerein 50 mg would be more helpful. I would I to know the dosage and another substitute medicine besides Diacerein.

Ayurveda, Sonipat
Diacerein. The recommended starting dose is 50 mg once daily with evening meal for the first 2 to 4 weeks of treatment, after which the recommended daily dose is 50 mg twice daily. The treatment should be taken with food, one with breakfast and the other with evening meal. The capsules must be swallowed intact, without opening them, together with a glass of water.

Bone Fracture - Common Types and How They Can be Prevented?

MS - Orthopaedics, MBBS
Orthopedist, Hyderabad
Bone Fracture - Common Types and How They Can be Prevented?

The human body allows for movement through the complex system of bones, muscles and joints. A break in the bone is medically known as a fracture and can be caused by constant stress, pressure or impact. It is common knowledge that with age, the bone strength decreases and incidence of fractures (osteoporotic fracture) increases. Based on the affected bone and impact, different types of fractures are commonly identified as:

  1. Complete: When the breakage of the bone is complete, producing two or more pieces, it is referred to as a complete fracture.
  2. Incomplete: When the breakage is incomplete, where the bone has cracked, but does not break into pieces, it is known as an incomplete fracture.
  3. Another type would be the open or closed fracture:
    • Open fracture: When the skin is exposed and the bone breaks through this exposed skin, it is known as compound or open fracture.
    • Simple or closed fracture: The bone breaks, but the skin continuity is maintained. Again, here are different types including hairline, greenstick, oblique, etc.

What is the reason behind a fracture?
A bone will fracture when force is applied to it that is stronger than the bone itself. A key factor in a bone’s susceptibility to fracturing is age. Both children and older people are prone to bone fractures. Children’s bones are constantly growing and have not reached their full strength. Elderly people have brittle bones with old age and are prone to develop bone diseases, making them susceptible to fractures.

How they are treated?
Splint and pain medications are commonly used. Closed reduction where the fracture is reduced without opening up the tissues and open reduction, where the tissues are opened up are common approaches to managing fractures.

Can they be prevented?
Especially with children and in the elderly, extra precaution should be taken to avoid any kind of injury and fracture.

  1. Develop an exercise routine to strengthen the muscles
  2. Manage weight
  3. Use the right footwear and exercise gear
  4. Watch your medications (avoid sleep inducing ones)
  5. Increase lighting in the room/home to improve clarity of vision for elderly
  6. Make the home/living area fall-proof by reducing clutter, using railing in the bathroom and bedrRhinoplastyoom, using rubber mat, etc.
  7. While a fall may seem inevitable, taking the above steps can help reduce the incidence and severity of a fall, thereby minimizing damage.
