I have some eye problems a week I can't see a more distance please suggests so I will take proper treatment.
Hello, You are suffering from Myopia (or Near-sightedness). Get your eyes tested from an Opthalmologist. Include the following for getting better vision: Vitamins A, C, E, and minerals like copper and zinc are essential to eyesight. Get the antioxidants from dark leafy greens, egg yolks, yellow peppers, pumpkin, sweet potatoes, and carrots. Include garlic and onions. Blueberries, grapes as they have antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties that can help improve your vision. DHA is a fatty acid found in coldwater fish like salmon, sardines and mackerel. Exercises for eyes: Warm your eyes. Rub your palms together to create heat, and then place them against your eyes for five seconds. Repeat this three times. Roll your eyes. Start by looking up and then slowly circle 10 times clockwise and 10 times counterclockwise. Focus. Hold a pen at arm's length, focus your eyes on it, and slowly bring the pen closer until it's about 6 inches away from your nose. Then slowly move it back, keeping your eyes focused on the pen, 10 times in all. Massage your temples. Using your thumb knuckles, massage your temples in small circles, 20 times in one direction and 20 in the other. Repeat the same actions above the mid-point of the eyebrows at the forehead, then below the eyes on both sides of the bridge of the nose. Take a mini-nap. Put your head back, close your eyes, and relax for 3 minutes. Insufficient sleep may weaken your vision, so shoot for 8 hours of sound sleep a night. Rest your eyes 10 minutes for every 50 minutes spent reading or in front of the computer. If your eyes feel overly tired, lie down and place cooling cucumber slices over your eyelids. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine which will help you in preventing first and reducing the power of your eyes. Take Physostigma 6/ thrice daily for 1 month. Thereafter, revert back for further guidance.

I was interested in knowing different treatment options for keratoconus in my left eye. Just to give a back ground, I was operated for keratoconus in my right eye through deep anterior lamellar keratoplasty(dalk) way back in 2006 and the results were outstanding. Then problem is I am a working professional and cannot afford to be off work for a long period of time, which I will have to do in case I opted for dalk again. My treatment was undertaken at rp centre delhi. I heard about a new corneal cross-linking treatment done using riboflavin and uv exposure to cornea. I am not sure if this has still made it's way in india. Any guidance I can have will be much appreciated. P. S. Lasik in not a recommended treatment for keratoconus since thickness of our indian cornea is way less than the avenue thickness as in other western countries.

You must have advanced keratoconus in left eye, and underwent dalk keratoconus is a bilateral disease and one eye is affected more. As for the other eye if its progressing and corneal thickness is greater than 360micrometer, you can undergo c3r, which started in rpc in 2008. However if not progressing contact lens is best option, as surgery is not so predictable. You had a great surgery in one eye doesn't mean same for other eye. If you need any help at rpc aiims, I can help you as I have worked there for six years.

Hello, redness of eyes may be caused by several things like an allergy, infection, inflammation and dry eyes, etc. Here are the most likely combinations. 1. Redness + itching: might be caused by allergy 2. Redness + pain + watering + decreased vision: most likely being caused by an infection 3. Redness + pain: there must be an inflammation in the eye. 4. Redness foreign body sensation: this is most likely caused by dryness. Redness alone could be normal due to exposure to dust and temperature where eyes may be red in the morning. Another factor for redness is stress. I would suggest a few remedies for healthy eyes however they may not be effective for redness, they are? try blinking every few minutes? splash your eyes with fresh water? use cold compresses to cool your eyes? use lubricating drops eg flo-gel. This can remove the problem of dry eyes. It is best advised to see an ophthalmologist for examination and treatment.

Recent onset yellow eyes are suggestive of jaundice. You need to visit your physician to check that who might advise blood tests for liver function.

I am 32 years old and looking for LASIK surgery, can you please tell me what is phacoemulsification?
Phacoemulsification refers to modern cataract surgery in which the eye's internal lens is emulsified with an ultrasonic handpiece and aspirated from the eye. Aspirated fluids are replaced with irrigation of balanced salt solution, thus maintaining the anterior chamber, as well as cooling the handpiece.

I Am Facing Red Eye Problem For 2 Days. I Don't Go To Any Doctor And Don't Use Any medicine Yet. Is Anything Serious?...
Hello, Bloodshot eyes appear red because the vessels at the surface of the white portion of the eye become swollen. Vessels may swell due to: Eye dryness Too much sun exposure Dust or other particles in the eye Allergies Infection Injury Eye infections or inflammation can cause redness as well as possible itching, discharge, pain, or vision problems. Other causes of eye redness include Colds or allergies, Acute glaucoma, Corneal scratches: Injuries caused by sand, dust, or overuse of contact lenses. Sometimes, a bright red spot, called a subconjunctival hemorrhage, will appear on the white of the eye. This often happens after straining or coughing, which causes a broken blood vessel on the surface of the eye. Most often, there is no pain and your vision is normal. It is almost never a serious problem. Because the blood leaks into the conjunctiva, which is clear, you cannot wipe or rinse the blood away. Like a bruise, the red spot will go away within a week or two. Management: - Try to rest your eyes if redness is due to fatigue or eye strain. No other treatment is needed. - Wash your hands, hold clean water in your hand, keep your eyes closer to the water and dip the eyes by blinking the eyelids frequently in the held water in hand. Repeat it for 3-4 times again. - Avoid watching T. V. Working on computer or mobile, reading or frequently keep blinking your eyes to avoid dryness. Take frequent breaks in between. - In case there is itching, use a clean napkin or a tissue to wipe the tears and cleaning the eyelids gently. -Wear an UV-rays protected sunglasses while you are out in sun. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicines - Schwabe’s Belladonna 30 and Euphrasia 30 - both thrice daily for 4 days. Use Euphrasia Eye drops twice daily. Revert back thereafter. Get your eyes tested if there is no relief even after the medication

I have red eyes and migraine also. I took tablets and consulted so many. But nothing happened.
Could you please solve...
Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your eye problem. Redness of the eye is one of the most prevalent problems observed. Redness of the eyes has multiple causes associated with it. To enumerate a few common causes: (1) allergy of the eye. It is usually caused by improper eye hygiene. It occurs with symptoms of pricking, itching, irritation, watering, foreign body sensation and discomfort. There is a tendency to rub the eyes with fingers, handkerchief, cloth, etc. This is not a good habit because it tends to transmit lots of virus, bacteria and dust into the eye. Allergy usually presents with symptoms of watering (clear water), redness and itching of the eye. Thus, eye hygiene remains the principal modality of treatment along with eye drops as a supplement. (2) infectious conjunctivitis: this is usually associated with white-yellowish discharge. There may occur associated pain and sensation of itching, pricking, watering and discomfort. If so, it would be a good idea to go and show to an eye specialist in person. (3) foreign body lodged in the eye. This is more commonly associated with people who drive 2 wheeler vehicles without protection. It occurs more commonly in one eye. Foreign bodies that commonly get lodged are eyelashes, insect wings, small insects, dust particles, iron particles (more common with people working in the iron industry) the solution for a foreign body lodged in the eye would be better provided by an eye specialist at the clinic because it would require immediate removal from the eye and appropriate therapy. (4) raised eye pressure: this is a condition known as glaucoma. It is not so common as the previous mentioned conditions. There is usually associated pain in the eyes. It is commonly bilateral (occurs in both eyes). There is usually a positive family history of glaucoma associated in a majority of the cases. (5) inflammation of the covering layers of the eyeball. This is known as" uveitis" it is also a relatively less common condition. There is associated pain. It would require a thorough eye checkup including the retina-thus a good idea would be to visit the eye specialist in person. (6) increased blood pressure. This has known to cause redness which is also known as sub-conjunctival hemorrhage. The redness in this case tends to be deep dark and usually occurs only in one portion of the eye. In this regard, a complete ophthalmic evaluation and a systemic evaluation is warranted. From the symptoms described by you, it seems more likely to be a case of allergy. Maintaining the precautions and hygiene that I mentioned should probably work well for you. You could also use a lubricant eye drop along with an anti-histamine eye drop. (3-4 times daily) also, you might require a complete eye evaluation in order to rule out other causes. Your migraine may/may not be related to the eye redness. At times, migraine is precipitated by bright sunlight or dust (pollution). This can also cause redness of the eyes which is also known as allergy of the eyes. Thus, avoiding the triggers for your migraine may help in solving the problem of red eyes as well. Hope my suggestions helped you. Take care,

I have red eye for over 8 days so what should I do give your suggestion and good advice.

DOMS, MBBS
Ophthalmologist, Delhi
I have red eye for over 8 days so what should I do give your suggestion and good advice.
Red eye has many causes. You have to see if it is associated with blurring of vision, pain, discharge and other complaints. But commonly its allergic or infective in origin ie allergic or infective conjunctivitis. Which has simple treatment protocol. But still its wise to see an ophthalmologist for a thorough slit lamp examination to rule out other differentials for acute red eye. Empericaly, to keep your eyes healthy, get your refraction done and wear spectacles eat green veggies. Carrots. Papayas, mangoes yellow fruits nuts butter. Strain less your eyes. Relax your eyes in between work. Blink regularily if working for long time on computer. Lower the brightness of your screen. Work under adequately illuminated conditions. Also try to blink your eyes properly while work. Use good tear substitutes like genteal 4 times a day. And anti glare screen for your system. Use eyedrops genteal 3 times a nd zoneph 4 times a day.

Hello. My age is 23. I have eyesight of (-3.0). Please suggest how to reduce my sight naturally and remove my lenses ...
Hello lybrate-user. Sorry about your problem. It would be difficult to reduce/ remove your (-3.0) power naturally without undergoing surgery. The reason being that usually the refractive error/ power of the eyes is determined by certain genetic factors. These factors are responsible for the growth of the eyeball. The length and curvature of the eyeball determine its refractive error. It would be a good idea to take good care of your eyes, eat healthy antioxidant rich food and avoid heavy weight lifting. All these suggestions are to strengthen your retina. Likewise, you could use contact lenses as alternative to glasses. In the future, if the need be, you could undergo assessment for refractive surgery. Hope my suggestions helped you.
