Most likely diagnosis is indeed Oral Submucous fibrosis. As for treatment, first and foremost, quit all tobacco and other habits, including paan and supari chewing. Then see a dentist or an Oral Surgeon and get a thorough evaluation.

My hubby even though tks care of oral but still many times he has bad breath. What should he do?

Hello lybrate-user that's a genuine concern you have. Let's update his medical history as the problem can be elsewhere and is reflected through his mouth. Otherwise it could be local issues like food getting collected in the mouth and has now hardened into a mass, which we call as calculus. In any case you need to visit the dentist to see for gum problems and might need professional cleaning or further treatments depending on the severity of the gum disease. In any case do not delay and also motivate your hubby to visit the dentist taking the condition seriously. Cheers and god bless hope i've answered your query.

If the tooth breaks, have the tooth contoured. Fill the crack in. Place a crown on your tooth. If the tooth has been badly damaged and the nerve or pulp is exposed, the dentist may have to perform a root canal to save the tooth. If the tooth has been severely damaged, it may have to be extracted.

Hello I am 26 years old male. I have gap between teeth. So is it possible to joint those gaps. What type of treatment need to do. I think braces is a option. If braces is only option then how much time it will take?

PG Fellowship In Microdentistry, BDS
Dentist, Thane
Braces is one option which has various types in it. It usually takes 1 and 1\2 yrs to 2 yrs. There is non braces form of the treatment with similar time of treatment called clear path or invisalign. Other treatment will be of veneers or crowns depending upon various factors. Warm regards

Soft drinks, cordials and fruit juices should be consumed in a limited quantity because they are acidic in nature. Acidic food or drinks often soften the tooth material which leads to the dissolution of minerals into the tooth enamel, resulting in cavities (holes).

I am suffering from teeth yellowness and I brush daily but I don' t get any cure from yelloish teeth. Please give me some home remedy

MDS, BDS
Dentist, Delhi
Please get a round of scaling and polishing done by your dentist. Once that has been done, you can maintain your teeth just by regular brushing etc. If you are still not satisfied after the procedure, you can consider whitening (even home bleaching options are available for this).

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning, root canal treatment & capping. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash.

Eat a healthy, balanced diet and avoid eating strongly flavoured or spicy food. Cut down on sugary food and drink, as it can increase the amount of bacteria in your mouth. Reduce your alcohol consumption. Stop smoking. Cut down on coffee. Drink plenty of water to help prevent your mouth becoming dry. Chew sugar-free gum after eating, to stimulate the flow of saliva. This will help clean away any remaining food particles. Don't use toothpaste to clean your dentures, as it can scratch the surface and cause stains. •Clean your dentures thoroughly using soap and lukewarm water, denture cream or a denture-cleaning tablet. Use a separate toothbrush to clean your dentures. Make sure you visit your dentist for regular check-ups. Having regular dental check-ups will ensure that any plaque is removed from your teeth, particularly in areas that are difficult to reach. Your dentist can recommend the best way to clean your teeth and gums, and point out areas you might be missing. They can also identify any signs of gum disease and ensure early treatment. Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. If your bad breath is caused by a gastrointestinal problem, such as an H. Pylori infection or gastro-oesophageal reflux disease (GORD), you may be referred to a gastroenterologist. Persistent bad breath or a bad taste in the mouth may be a warning sign of gum (periodontal) disease. Gum disease is caused by the buildup of plaque on teeth. You may need deep cleaning & fill tooth cavities with artificial enamel filling. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. You may consult me in person.

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning along with surgical, gum strengthening procedure. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash after every meals. Use pepsodent tooth paste & gum paint for 2 to 3 weeks. Advance procedures can be done with laser. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Dr. I am using patanjali dant kanti toothpaste what are the benefits of it do we have any side effects.

Dentist, Visakhapatnam
Dr. I am using patanjali dant kanti toothpaste what are the benefits of it do we have any side effects.
The product has its pros and cons as other products does. PROS 1.It has nice taste. 2. And the freshness lasts longer 3.Has good antibacterial property of neem and turmeric 4.Its soothing action on the cavities and gums 5.Minimum side effects CONS 1.It cannot be an alternative to dental treatment as it cannot reverse progression of cavities or gum diseases. 2.As it soothens (obtundant) effect of clove oil on regular basis misguides the pain respose which would end up in the end stages of the disease finally results increased cost of the dental treatment in late stages of the disease or the tooth should be removed if caries or periodontal progression goes beyond to save the tooth 3.The turmeric might cause tooth discolouration in long run. As far to my knowledge is concern use it just if you want to give a try but I will never reccomend it on regular basis.
