Visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

Dear Lybrateuser, - For removing the plaque & tartar do consult a dentist & have it cleaned, not to worry as teeth won't get deal - once the teeth are cleaned, to maintain them brush at least twice a day or better after every meal, also learn to floss - have 7-8 glasses of water for adequate hydration as dryness leads to deposit & staining - have more of fruits & vegetables as chew them helps remove tartar & keeps them shining.

Few advice to stop bleeding gums-- - visit to a dentist for professional cleaning once in a year - use a soft toothbrush -- and brush properly! brush your teeth for at least two minutes twice a day and after meals. Hard brushing can further damage the soft tissues of your mouth. - floss at least once a day and be sure to floss beyond the gum line to remove more plaque. - control bleeding by applying pressure to the area with a cold compress. - rinse with salt water to keep the area clean. - avoid mouthwashes that contain alcohol, which can dry out your mouth. - stay away from smoking and other tobacco products, which can aggravate bleeding gums.

I have a missing tooth. My doctor suggested to go for bridge. Could you please tell me whether the bridge is best or the implantation. And also can you tell me pros and cons for bridge and implantation. Which will be for longer period.

I have a missing tooth. My doctor suggested to go for bridge. Could you please tell me whether the bridge is best or ...
Hi lybrate-user, bridge for missing teeth is a conventional procedure while implants are modern solutions for the same situation. Bridge needs support of two adjoining teeth while implant does not depend on adjacent teeth. Only disadvantage of implants is the cost that seems more but it is usually worth it, depending on clinicians experience and post-operative care and support. Please gain more information through internet and ask your dentist for possible complications of the same. Best of luck.

Hi I have a burning sensation in my mouth when I eat something or chilli. So sir or mam can you tell me what is my problem?

BDS, MDS
Dentist, Gorakhpur
Since duration of your problem is not mentioned, I would suggest to take vitamin B12 supplement, zincovit capsule together. Try to avoid hot and spicy food stuffs for the time being. If problem still persists for longer than one or two months it indicates some other underlying problem. You have to visit an expert dentist regarding the same.
