I am getting married in next week and we don't want to have kids immediately. The problem is I don't want to use condoms and we are little bit scared to use pills because it may leads to side effects. Can you please let us know what are the other options available and if we need to use pills which one will be good.

If you use pills use newer low dose ones that cause less side effects like femilon or yaz. Alternatively you can get a mirena coil or implant fitted.

My wife once pregnant and underwent d&c after that she didn't conceive yet will I need to undergo semen analysis?

MD-Ayurveda, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Sexologist, Haldwani
My wife once pregnant and underwent d&c after that she didn't conceive yet will I need to undergo semen analysis?
Hello- D & C is a blind and a very hash procedure done to a very soft and delicate organ uterus. D & C scraps out the unwanted material but also damages the inner fertile layer (endometrium) of uterus. This is why many couples fail to get conceive after this procedure. Assuming that you had a chance of pregnancy before , the semen analysis of your husband might be normal. The only thing you have to workout is repair and regenerate the fertile endometrium of the uterus. Start herbal uterine tonics and medicines to improve your chances.Good luck.

I am 19 years old and I am suffering from PCOS. I was given femilon for 3 months in august 2014. Now this year I did not get my periods for 3 months. Now I got my periods but I am gaining weight, I feel depressed and I get too many mood swings. What should I do?

MD - Obstetrtics & Gynaecology
Gynaecologist, Mumbai
Primary objective of your treatment is weight reduction and maintain normal BMI of 18-25. This will regularize the monthly cycles and also help you get pregnant. You can take Metformin to reduce weight. You don’t need to take any medicine till 3 months for the menses to come. Only after 3 months of missed menses you should take medicines like progesterone Tablet (Deviry 10 mg twice a day for 5 days) for getting menses. For reducing your weight you should have brisk walk or jogging for 4-5 km daily, high protein diet (fish, chicken, mutton without fat, pulses, mushrooms), low carbohydrate diet (avoid rice, chapatti, bread, poha, upma, idli, dosa, potato, sugar etc and can use bhakri instead) and low fat i. E. Less oil and preferably use rice bran oil. Ovral pills/ Femilon/ Novelon/ Duoluton all are oral contraceptive pills and they are never prescribed for PCOD. There is no point in regularizing menses with Ovral as it will not get cured with it and next month it will be same.. Krimson or Ginette are the options for you, if you are suffering from excessive hair growth, during this time menses will also come regular.

I am unmarried and I have cut in nipple in future can I feed a baby. please advice.
It is best to withhold temporarily from the affected breast as it will be painful . Express the milk though to prevent congestion. You can use a nipple shield and apply lanolin based ointment like boroline to allow it to heal

Symptoms and Treatments for Uterine Bleeding

Here are some treatments and symptoms of uterine bleeding

Symptoms and Treatments for Uterine Bleeding
I’m Dr. Sharda Jain, Director of Life Care Centre. I’m going to talk today about uterine bleeding.
Uterine bleeding is a very common problem. Every fifth woman after she starts having periods is troubled because of altered heavy bleeding pattern. Now, if she is less than 20 years then, in that particular case, if the cycle is coming less in 21 days and she is bleeding for more than five days and if she does see passage of clots she should, you should not delay it because her haemoglobin is going to dropped out, her studies are going to get suffered, so, please see gynaecologist as early as possible.

Between 20 to 40 years, this time, the bleeding is usually related to pregnancy because these people are married and anytime in case if there is a lapse in using a contraceptive, effective contraception then, in that particular case it is all related to pregnancy. After your doctor’s visit and examination a trans-vaginal sonography is done and we find out what is the cause and the treatment is done early.
After 40 years, when the woman has got problems, we have to be worried about it, because at that particular time the chance is we think that they can be uterine malignancy or it can be genital malignancy. Again, it is a very simple procedure.

After doctor’s examination, after an ultrasound, opsis, endometrial biopsy is done and that sorts out everything. So, the diagnosis right on the day 1 is done in 90 percent of cases at the end of 48 hours, you find you have a full diagnosis. Sometime the bleeding comes after the stoppage of period that is after menopause and that time we view it just like that it can be, it is cancer unless proved otherwise.
Again, we have to be aggressive here, along with ultrasound, along with endometrial biopsy, hysteroscopy is also done at that particular stage and then we want to find out that there is no underlying malignancy.
Do not ignore the bleeding problem in your wife, in your daughter, in your daughter-in-law.
Seek the doctor’s help early.
You can visit us on the site of Lybrate.

Its because of may be she is virgin. And she is suffering vaginismus. Take homeopathic treatment to cure vaginismus. Women with vaginismus can do exercises, in the privacy of their own home, to learn to control and relax the muscles around the vagina. First, do kegel exercises by squeezing the same muscles you use to stop the flow of urine when urinating: squeeze the muscles. Hold for 2 seconds. Relax the muscles. Do about 20 kegels at a time. You can do them as many times a day as you want to. Sexual practices with your spouse or current romantic partner, enjoy foreplay, which helps with relaxation and lubrication. Hi. Can kesar (saffron) be had during first trimester of pregnancy? I have a spoon of diluted kesar (soaked in water) with a glass of milk everyday and would like to know if this is good for my baby or should I start its consumption later. Does consumption of kesar lead to bradycardia or fibroid? Please advise.

Hi. Can kesar (saffron) be had during first trimester of pregnancy? I have a spoon of diluted kesar (soaked in water)...
Yes, it is safe to add saffron (kesar or zafran) to milk but in moderate quantity especially when you're pregnant. Studies show that saffron may reduce blood pressure (bradycardia) and mood swings. In large doses, saffron can act as a uterine stimulant and could cause contractions. It is best to add just one or two strands of saffron to a glass of milk during pregnancy.--------------------some pregnant mums use it to improve digestion and increase their appetite.----------------you can start taking saffron milk at any time during your pregnancy. ------------------------.
