I am been working since last 10 years in IT professional and almost 10 hrs or more my job demands me to be on laptop. Since last one year I developed dry eyes and I see blur while seeing long distance objects. I visited doctor couple of times and I was assured that I do not have power and have only dry eyes and I was suggested to take Alerchek & Irvisc liquigel drops for a month. And I also started using Anti glare blue cut glasses while working. Can you please help to overcome this?

Hello lybrate-user, after going through your symptoms and history, it seems you are suffering from Computer Vision Syndrome (CVS). It is commonly seen in software engineers or those who use computers constantly for a long duration. Here are a certain tips I suggest which you bring relief to your symptoms. 1. Minimize the glare from the monitor to an optimum level or use an antiglare coated screens on iPad/ laptops/ desktops. 2. Blink frequently. We invariably tend to blink less when focussing on the screen. Make sure you blink frequently so that there is adequate tear secretion and lubrication to the eyes which will prevent dryness and the problems associated with it. 3. To reduce your risk of tiring your eyes by constantly focusing on your screen, look away from your computer at least every 20 minutes and gaze at a distant object (at least 20 feet away) for at least 20 seconds. 4. Rearrange your desk. The best position for your monitor is slightly below eye level, about 20 to 28 inches away from your face. You shouldn't have to stretch your neck or strain your eyes to see what's on the screen. 5. To reduce your risk for computer vision syndrome and neck, back and shoulder pain, take frequent breaks during your computer work day. 6. Use cooling glasses to protect your eyes from the radiation from your system. 7. These symptoms tend to aggravate during summer. So you can use lubricating eye drops such as Refresh tears eye drops, Tears naturale forte eye drops or Eubri eye drops which will be available over the counter. I hope these remedies will help you alleviate your symptoms. Please do write to me whether this helps or not. Regards.

Dear Sir, Soaked almonds are helpful in decreasing your LDL (Bad cholesterol levels) and Helps in increasing HDL (good cholesterol levels). They are also good source of Vitamin E (an antioxidant that prevents ageing and inflammation) where as un-soaked almonds are not.

My aunt is suffering from hypertension from several years and have problem of sweating suddenly on night sometime. Can you some suggestion for her?

BHMS

Hello, Few lifestyle changes can help you in controlling and preventing the high blood pressure, even if you're taking blood pressure medication. Eat healthy foods. Consume more fruits, vegetables, whole grains, poultry, fish and low-fat dairy foods. Eat less saturated fat and trans fat. Decrease the salt in your diet. So, avoid eating processed foods, such as canned soups or frozen dinners which contains extra salt in it. Keeping a healthy weight, or losing weight if you're overweight or obese, can help you control your high blood pressure and lower your risk of related health problems. Increase physical activity which can help lowering your blood pressure, manage stress, reduce your risk of several health problems. Get indulged in regular exercising (if your doctor allows you). Limit alcohol. Even if you're healthy, alcohol can raise your blood pressure. If you choose to drink alcohol, do so in moderation. Don't smoke. Tobacco injures blood vessel walls and speeds up the process of hardening of the arteries. Reduce stress as much as possible. Practice healthy coping techniques, such as muscle relaxation, deep breathing or meditation. Getting regular physical activity and plenty of sleep can help, too. Monitor your blood pressure at home. Medication: Take homoeopathic medicine - Schwabe’s Essentia Aurea/ thrice daily which is a cardio-tonic which helps in maintaining blood pressure, improves muscle tone of the heart and narrowing of blood vessels.

I am 15 years old. Is it good for any teenager to masturbate once everyday? I searched for this on the net. And the results I found was that there is no specific number of times a person or a teenager can masturbate within a specific time. It all depends on how it affects us. I found to have no mental or physical stress apart from this fact that I bother if masturbating once everyday would be bad. So I started masturbating once everyday. But what I found was that the colour of the semen went on losing its white colour to become transparent (not completely). So please help me out by guiding me the correct frequency of masturbation and how to overcome if this is a problem. And also please tell me if I should really bother about this.

Masturbation is not really bad; it is the addiction to it that is bad. Not even the number of years is a problem but the frequency and compulsiveness to do it is to be considered for its ill-effects. At your age you may feel it difficult and it can become addictive if you have alone time, if you obsess about it, and if you are not into relationships. The problem with addiction to this is that you may go on to prefer masturbation to heterosexual contact, even when you are married. That obviously would be an insult to your wife and will lead to a lot of conflict. Heterosexual contact is very wholesome and the physiology is made exactly for penile and vaginal contact. You will instead enjoy a poor replica of this and not know or care for the difference. The second thing that can happen with addiction is that it will become compulsive and will have no boundaries or limits, since it can be done all by yourself, whenever, wherever, and however too. The big problem a lot of children get into is the guilt around this. A useful way to discharge the energy is to get into contact games, or exercises, or even hobbies to channelize it. Also you should not spend too much time alone, and you need to keep your mind occupied with other interesting things and a lot of socializing. Even if you are not interested in marriage, for whatever reasons, it will help you to get into a friendship with a girl and enjoy the relationship where there will be a lot of excitement when you fall in love. Right now your hormones may be very active and your physiological apparatus is primed and ready for sexual stimulation. But because of your age and even otherwise it is important to develop good control and not feed into your impulses. Keeping yourself occupied and living a healthy social life are the keys to manage your sexual drives.
