Is safe sex / condoms necessary after attaining menopause? Is there any chance of getting pregnant?

DGO, MD, MRCOG, CCST, Accredation in Colposcopy
Gynaecologist, Kolkata
One year after menopause pregnancy shouldnt occur as you are not ovulating. Hence contraception is not needed. However this is not the same in women who are young and have irregular and delayed cycles as break throgh ovulation can occur. Condoms in addition to contraceptive effect also help in preventing sexually transmitted infections. Hence they can be continue to be used.

Top 4 Reasons Why Your Vagina Hurts

Top 4 Reasons Why Your Vagina Hurts
4 reasons why your vagina can be hurtful

In India, along with a lack of sex education, there is also a lack of knowledge about hygiene of the privates amongst women even in urban areas. When a woman experiences pain in her vagina, while it could be because of various reasons and not necessarily alarming, one does get alarmed.

Let us understand the reasons.

1. Yeast infection: Dry and itchy vagina can feel painful after a while. Yeast infections are very common and usually most women experience them. They can be treated by medicines, yet it is best to get in touch with your doctor and get a prescription. Your doctor will prescribe an anti-fungal cream after a pelvic exam.

2. Vaginal dryness: This usually happens to post-menopausal women but can also happen to younger women because of certain birth control pills which are low in estrogen and dry up the moisture in one's vagina.

3. Pelvic inflammatory disease: If you are having regular pains during penetration and during your periods, it could be endometriosis. During examination, the pain is usually linked to the lower abdomen where the ovaries are.

4. Vulvodynia: These are mysterious pains which come & go and can be treated with medicines.

It is suggested to remove milk from the breast. You can remove it with your hands or you can use breast pump for removing milk. After that just gently massage your brest. This will help you.

Dear sir, two days before I check my pregnancy on perga news test kit. That's shows one dark line we are confused its positive or negative.

Gynaecologist, Ghaziabad
Only one dark line after 5 minutes of putting urine is a negative result or no pregnancy. However, this can be falsely negative sometimes, such as with a very early pregnancy, diluted urine etc. In case of strong doubt of pregnancy, the test must be repeated in 1 week with first voided morning urine.

Importance of Fibres

A day's diet plan should provide at least 25g to 40 g of fibre women need, slightly less fibre than men. For fibre to work well it needs water, so drink enough water. Fibre acts as a sponge and absorbs water and swells up in the gut and help to move food waste for elimination. Some types of fibre help maintain the good bacteria in the gut.
