I have been smoking for the past 15 years. No weight loss ever. I don't think there is any Tumor. The slight swelling below my chin goes off when I apply eucalyptus oil. I am worried about me being a victim of cancer. And very scared to go to doctor. Please Advise.

We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need cleaning, root canal treatment & capping. Until then apply clove oil on the decayed tooth. Rinse frequently with mouth wash. Missing teeth can be replaced by artificial teeth either by fixed-FPD or implant,removable-RPD

Why is fluoride used in toothpastes? Does diet make much difference to the child's teeth?

Why is fluoride used in toothpastes?
Does diet make much difference to the child's teeth?
Flouride prevents our teeth to become carious. But its use is in limited amount. Yes diet make differences in teeth . If you take more sticky food or sweet it starts carious condition. If you take more citrous (sour) food it will also lead to enamel loss.

In between my rt. Canine tooth and next there occurred a tunnel like gap inside my gum up to the deep inside. I feel always an irritating sensation. I was prescribed trypsin with bromelain & rutoside trihydrate tablets by my dentist, but I am not fully cured. How can I get rid of this problem?

Dear, It would be wise to get the tunnel like gap restored to the shape tooth otherwise the space serves as an area of food lodgement and recurrent infection.

Dental Care during Summer

Dental Care during Summer

Ever increasing temperature during summers make it very essential to be hydrated with lots of fluids taken in a frequent interval. Proper hydration not only helps general health, it also helps the oral health by maintaining right moisture in the mouth. Natural juices like tender coconut, buttermilk, lassi etc make good choices while carbonated drinks should be avoided.

My daughter 5 year old having smell in her mouth every time. She brush her teeth daily in morning but the problem is not solved so please suggest me what we do thanks.

BHMS

My daughter 5 year old having smell in her mouth every time. She brush her teeth daily in morning but the problem is ...
Brushing regularly only may not be sufficient some times if there is any other underlying cause for foetid smell in mouth. Besides your girl may not be covering all the parts inside her mouth while brushing so there is smell. You personally watch her brushing and make sure she is covering all the parts while brushing. Proper way to brush is no horizontal strokes but vertical strokes. Make yourself sure that she brushes in vertical fashion. Use good toothpaste containing fluorine. Watch for her sweets and chocolate intakes and make sure she washes her mouth from inside every time she eats. Try this for a month. If this is not helpful consult a dentist nearby, if, I may doubt maybe the condition called gingivitis uncommon in children.

Gastritis, lung & sinus infection may also be the cause of bad smell in the mouth. 90% of bad breath is due to a dirty tongue. We need more investigations with clinical examination to decide upon treatment. You may need deep cleaning. Rinse your mouth thoroughly with a mouth wash until then. Advance procedures can be done with laser too. Dental tips: - visit a dentist every six months for cleaning and a thorough dental check-up. Limit sugary food to avoid tooth decay. Gargle your mouth thoroughly after every meal. Scrub gently to clean your tongue with a tongue cleaner. Floss all your teeth inter dentally & brush twice daily, morning & night, up & down short vertical strokes, with ultra-soft bristles, indicator brush. Tooth brush to be changed every 2 months.

I have a bad breathe always. Brush my teeth for 3 times a day. What should I do to avoid this bad breathe. Thank you.

Post-Graduate Certificate in Endodontics
Dentist, Cuttack
I have a bad breathe always. Brush my teeth for 3 times a day. What should I do to avoid this bad breathe. Thank you.
Brushing is advised only twice a day. Overbrushing might destroy your enamel and cause sensitivity. Bad breathe has several reasons. It can be because of deposits or food particles remain inbetween your teeth. Or it can be due to medical conditions like gastric reflux, diabetes, lung infection, sinusitis or medications for chest pain and all. So before treating the problem, we have to know the cause so that we can eradicate it from roots. For time being use mouthwash and go for a dental check up soon to get the treatment.

Hello sir, I have suffering from teeth sensitive please take advise for precaution.
Use senquel- f or sensodyne toothpaste twice or thrice daily, tak it on a finger n coat it on all the tooth surface, leave it for 5 min & after that brush using the same. These toothpaste have flouride content, which closes the open dentinal tubules thus preventing sensitivity gradualy.

Dental bleaching is the cure, after treatment you need to drink less tea, coffee, these are the intrinsic stains that you are suffering from.

Hi lybrate-user, the first and most important thing is that your teeth should be clean, and free from plaque (accumulated food debris) and stains. For that, you must get professional scaling/cleaning done from a dentist. After that, you can head for tooth whitening procedures such as bleaching and laser tooth whitening. Home remedies such as lemon peel and apple cider vinegar can be used, but being acidic in nature, they eventually wear off the outermost layer of teeth (enamel) making them weak in the long run. So better to go for trusted scientific procedures. Hope that helps.
