I have acne/pimple problem and it seems to be increasing . It started two years ago . Medication helped me but it didn't clear my skin as it used to be. I have red spots on my skin and it makes my skin looks so ugly in the sun. Please suggest something that really helps.

Are long Distance Athletes like marathon & 10,000 meter professional athletes in India prone to getting diabetes since the running done is the most. There is no such gym workout that is done by such kind of athletes. Unlike a Sprint runner who does only 100m, 200m or long jump or hurdles, a long distance is mostly running or a 3000 steplechase. Also, diabetes is on the insulin level in the body. I'm a middle distance runner. Hence, i'm asking this question.

In a word, YES. Long distance runners can also develop diabetes, though the chances are much lesser than those in non-athletes. Diabetes doesn't mean the person has low Insulin alone. It means both that the person's body isn't producing enough Insulin for his/her requirements (known as Insulin deficiency) AND also that the Insulin that is produced is NOT able to exert its influence efficiently (a phenomenon known as Insulin Resistance). Thus, diabetes means both Insulin deficiency PLUS Insulin resistance and also a host of other metabolic derangements. I don't want to bore you any further...

Dear lybrate-user, Of course it is your decision to take whatever treatment you wish to take. If you consult psychiatrists, they will prescribe according to their expertise based on evidences of many research work. You can take decision to go to psychiatrist or not. You can even take a decision whether to take her/his treatment or not. You can even take a decision of stopping treatment also. You are old enough and have the sanity to use your discretion. You can stop Pexep and try natural methods. If it does not work, please remember that psychiatrists and their treatment will always come for your help. The same doctor also will accept you, since most doctors know that some persons don't comply with treatment.

There can be many other reasons apart from tanning to cause skin darkening. -do not skip meals -take vitamin c rich foods -staying in cool environment also helps improve skin tone, -skin exfoliation (daily dust can be removed by a salon or clinical mild treatment).

When 24-year-old Erin learned that she had type 2 diabetes she simply could not believe it was true. This could never happen to her, she felt. The diagnosis must be wrong. During the next few weeks Erin was prescribed appropriate treatment, and given advice on self-managing her condition, to control symptoms and reduce the risk of long-term problems. But before too long it became clear that Erin was continuing to suffer symptoms. Her diabetes was clearly not under control.

Erin was eventually referred to our clinic, where we discovered why the standard therapeutic approach was not working for her. Deep down, she still did not believe that she had diabetes. When faced with pressures in her daily life – Erin had recently moved to another country to take up a demanding job – she would feel overwhelmed and simply stop managing her diabetes, which seemed much less important than the immediate issues facing her. We helped Erin to recognize and understand this pattern of behavior, and to learn to cope with her disease. She has now finally accepted that she has diabetes, and understands clearly that she can benefit by taking responsibility for her treatment, complying with instructions and adopting a healthy lifestyle.

Erin's case is by no means unique. Studies suggest that less than 50 percent of patients with a chronic disease follow their management plans correctly, for a wide variety of reasons. Many people with diabetes, for example, do not adhere to their prescribed diet or take their prescribed medication, resulting in poor metabolic control and a high risk of developing long-term complications.

Two major external factors influence the course of diabetes in an individual patient. Healthcare professionals control one of these when they establish a management plan, involving specific treatments, lifestyle modifications and regular assessment. The other factor, controlled by patients, is their ability to self-manage the disease, adapting the plan according to daily circumstances.

Few people – if any – will have this ability when diagnosed, and it is the responsibility of health professionals to help patients develop the necessary knowledge and skills. Patient education is widely recognized as vital for effective long-term care. However, its implementation is often inadequate, and too often it involves little more than putting information in front of the patient. Key issues for the patient, such as understanding the implications of the disease and learning how to incorporate its management into their day-to-day life, are sometimes not addressed.

Hello lybrate-user PCOS is a common endocrine system disorder among women of reproductive age your irregular periods is a one of the symptoms of PCOS If you want to cure PCOS than you must have tack ayurveda treatment and change life style According to modern medicine there is no cure for PCOS, it can be only managed by medicines and lifestyle modifications. But medications used to manage PCOS have their own side effects like nausea, vomiting, sleep disturbance, unusual vaginal bleeding other than menstruation, nervousness, fatigue, breast tenderness, diarrhea or constipation, stomach bloating, change in appetite, weight gain or loss, acne and vision disturbance. PCOS treatment in Ayurveda is therefore all about managing it well with all the lifestyle changes and thus, minimizing all the side effects slowly. Lifestyle changes Regular exercise – To reduce body weight and prevent insulin resistance. It is advisable to lose at least 5% of your weight to regularise the cycles. Meditation – To overcome anxiety and depression. Diet – For weight management and to reduce blood sugar levels. Eat balanced, low glycemic healthy diet. Does for pcos Minimise the quantity of milk intake. Avoid curds and other milk products. Drink well churned butter milk. Avoid day sleep and waking up at night times. Avoid junk and non-vegetarian foods (You can eat fish occasionally) Use garlic, fennel seeds, sesame seeds regularly in cooking.
