Dear, your doctor did best for you because thats the protocol which is followed in sudden hearing loss cases. I would suggest you to visit audiologist and take a hearing aid trial, looking at your age audiologist might give you near invisible hearing aid. Hearing aid will help you in managing your hearing loss along with tinnitus. Let me know if it helps. Thanks.

This is due to the blockage of connection between nose and ears, this is a tube which connects ear with nose after this get blocks you have this kind of problem, keep chewing for this and do not clean your nose so abruptly. If this does not open than need to go to ear surgeon.

Hearing Impairment in Children and Importance of Early Intervention

Diploma in Otorhinolaryngology (DLO), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Kolkata
Hearing Impairment in Children and Importance of Early Intervention

Deafness in children is not an uncommon phenomenon. 1-3 infants per 1000 birth is born with congenital sensory disorder. This is much higher when conductive hearing losses both congenital and acquired are taken into account. There is lack of awareness about the gravity of the problem among general population and medical fraternity.

  • Children learn to communicate by imitating the sounds they hear. Deafness in the early months of life in a child deprives this valuable sensory input. This results in non development of speech or delayed speech/language development, social problems and academic difficulties.
  • The goal of early intervention is to integrate the deaf child into the family and into society, to ensure development of normal/near normal speech and to enable the growth and development of a healthy confident child.
  • Universal neonatal hearing screening (UNHS) can diagnose babies born with deafness. They can be treated with hearing aid or cochlear implant to restore their hearing and subsequently speech language therapy started as soon as possible.
  • Early intervention results in normal or near normal speech and the affected child can be integrated into the society.
  • The parents, doctors and the society should come together and work hand in hand for achieving this goal.

To which doctor we must consult when we have hearing disorders because of hearing too much music by ear phones. Whether there are any instruments which can tell the % of hearing loss one suffers from. Is there any permanent cure for hearing loss or it can just be controlled. Whether a person can be able to hear normally in future if she suffers from a hearing loss. I am currently suffering from hearing loss because of listening too much music in ear phones because if which my nerves got damaged.

Hi lybrate-user, good morning. First of all no need to worry too much about this, please visit to nearby audiologist or vaani clinic for complete audio gram which will tell you the severity of your hearing loss. May be your hearing problem is not much to worry about if your hearing loss is more than we will suggest you to put a hearing aid (you can go for invisible hearing aids too like cics which can be connected to phone via bluetooth also)

Hi, now you r in meniere's disease, the symptoms are aural fullness, vertigo, fluctuating hearing loss and tinnitus. And you r diagnosed with bilateral severe mixed hg. Loss, ok. It is better for you to go for a digital hg. Aid in left ear, if possible use in both ear. Medications and surgery has limited benefit on meniere's disease.

Hearing capacity may get impaired due to constant use of earphones. If you r able to concentrate on your work then no need to worry you can continue listening music but it should not become obsession.

Very lil results you will get from medications. So without a delay test your hearing ability n go for small digital hearing aids if the test reports says so. Do not delay.
