Hi. Got married in 2012 .N I have been diagnosed with pcod. N under treatment using medicines since past three years....
Hello, PCOS or pcod s a problem in which a woman's hormones are out of balance. It can cause problems with your periods and make it difficult to get pregnant. PCOS also may cause unwanted changes in the way you look. If it isn't treated, over time it can lead to serious health problems, such as diabetes and heart disease. The most common symptoms are: Acne.Weight gain and trouble losing weight.Extra hair on the face and body.Thinning hair or even hair loss on scalp.Irregular periods. Often women with PCOS have fewer than nine periods a year. Some women have no periods. Others have very heavy bleeding.Fertility problems. Many women who have PCOS have trouble getting pregnant(infertility), depression. Regular exercise, healthy foods, and weight control are the key treatments for PCOS. Treatment (hormonal) can reduce unpleasant symptoms and help prevent long-term health problems. Try to fit in moderate activity and/or vigorous activity often. Brisk Walking, jogging, dance or aerobics are great exercise that most people can do.Eat heart-healthy foods. This includes lots of vegetables, fruits, nuts, beans, and whole grains. It limits foods that are high insaturated fat, such as meats, cheeses, and fried foods. Most women who have PCOS can benefit from losing weight. Even losing 5kg may help get your hormones in balance, regulate your menstrual cycle and can make you ovulate.

i-pills and unwanted 72 are emergency contraceptive pills to be taken within 72 hours of unprotected sex. However they may not be always 100% effective. Also since your friend had sex after taking the pill, she has chance if pregnancy if she was ovulating then. Rule out pregnancy by using urine pregnancy test if she misses a scheduled period

Morning Sickness!

Lactation Consultant, Childbirth Educator, MHA, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)

Morning Sickness!
Morning sickness is probably the most disturbing symptom of pregnancy. It occurs in 75% of women during the first trimester of pregnancy. Though it is commonly called morning sickness, it can occur during any time of the day, sometimes all day long. Most women feel nauseatic, some may vomit as well. Though the symptom generally goes away around the 5th month, some women may continue feeling sick throughout their gestation period. Morning sickness may also cause weight loss in early pregnancy because of the loss of appetite associated with it.
The causes of morning sickness are generally hormones, and the physical and chemical changes in early pregnancy.
Well, your feeling sick may bring about a reason to celebrate in the family, but those who have experienced it would agree that this is a cause of major stress to the woman during the first trimester.
But can morning sickness be prevented? sadly. No! but one can reduce and relieve the symptoms a bit. This can be achieved by not staying empty stomach for long and having small, carbohydrate rich meals throughout the day, one may eat some dry crackers or biscuits before getting out of the bed, moving around regularly helps too. No medication should be taken to tackle morning sickness unless advised by the caregiver. Other things one can do is to wear clothes which provide some positive ease and do not put pressure on the abdomen. Staying away from the kitchen can also help.
For partners and family members - a woman in her early pregnancy is quite perturbed because of the changes in her body that she is not in control of, and morning sickness makes her miserable. As her partner or family, one should try to provide as much comfort as possible, by helping out with the cooking, by keeping the house calm and cheerful, and by getting to know what helps make the expecting mother feel better.

You should share it with your doctor. If there is any complication develop in this pregnancy the doctor will be able to correlate the reason for the complication. For example if the cervix is scarred and does not dilate may be due to the injury to the Cs during previous abortion operation. This is an example only. Better to shRe it with doctor so that she can anticipate the problems that might occur and look for its specifically and be careful. It is for your welfare.

In older women vaginal dryness is a common cause of dyspareunia. This is a common problem for women that are not on hormone replacement. Dyspareunia can also be caused by abnormalities of the uterus or pelvic organs. Take Lycopodium 200, 5 drops, first dose in the morning, second dose in the evening and third dose in the next morning. Revert after 15 days.

I am a diabetic, I have thyroid ,my periods are 11 months once .I want to conceive so what can I do please help.
Since you have some hormonal disturbance along with diabetes, it's important that you consult a gynecologist to go for a detailed study to know your status. You can update all the details of the reports after that so that a solution can be found accordingly. You can add Homeopathy which is safe and gentle and can be taken along with the current medications. You should also appreciate that fact that diet and exercise play a major role in maintaining diabetes and overall health. So start exercising according to your comfort level. Learn yoga and practice it everyday as it is easy and can be done indoors. Adhere to the principles of healthy lifestyle to achieve success in life.

Bariatric Surgery: What To Know About It

Bariatric Surgery: What To Know About It

Obesity and a shapeless body are problems that plague many people around the world. Besides leading to an appearance that is less than ideal, it can also lead to severe health problems include heart failure, heart diseases, diabetes and more. While there are many ways to combat being overweight with the help of exercise and a proper diet and even medication, very severe causes of obesity can also be fixed with a surgical process known as Bariatric Surgery. So, here's everything you need to know about it.

  1. Affecting the Digestive Process: As per the normal digestive process, the food moves into the digestive tract, while its nutrients get collected with the help of a well functioning system that includes digestive juices and enzymes. This food moves through the digestive tract, passing through the oesophagus, before it goes down into the stomach where it meets the strong digestive acids, which break it down, and then it enters the small intestine. While the stomach can hold three pints of food at a time, there is a chance that some of this food may not get properly digested in the small intestine. In this case, the food enters the large intestine. Now, Bariatric Surgery helps in restricting the amount of food that a person can have and hold in the first place.
  2. The Process: This surgical procedure may be carried out by cutting open the stomach and removing a portion of the same. This procedure can also reroute the small intestine into the gastric pouch or the small stomach pouch. This process can also be done with laparoscopic invasion, where a few small incisions will be used to insert a tiny camera and instruments for the process.
  3. Ideal Candidates: If your BMI or body mass index is more than 40, then you can opt for this kind of surgery, as mere dieting and exercising will not help you in your weight loss endeavour. This surgery can also help in preventing the onset of type 2 diabetes mellitus. The patient also has to have reached the normal adult height in order to qualify for this surgery.
  4. Side Effects: After the surgery, the patient may experience a few side effects including leakages and bleeding. An incisional or an internal hernia may also occur after the surgery. Also, for patients who have a poor diet, there may be complications after the surgery due to less intake of necessary vitamins and minerals.

Once you undergo the surgery, it is important to commit to a proper diet with less food intake and proper exercise on a lifelong basis.

Hi, thanks for writing in. Swelling on foot, hands and face has to be evaluated in detail. It might happen due to conditions involving kidney, liver, heart, thyroid and any other generalized condition. It is important to know your weight and height and if you are on the higher side. Restlessness might be due to anxiety and associated stress. Sugar, uric acid, serum creatinine report and esr are normal. Thyroid needs to be matched if it is for tsh, t3 or t4 level. Regards,
