What is the success rate of Spinal Decompression Surgery and is there any risk of paralysis in the Surgery.

Diploma in Pharmacy, BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Pune
Hi, actually now days success ratio is good in this type of surgery. But you should discuss with other Dr. With complete details of your problem. Very rare cases who have multiple problems get paralysis. And post surgery you need to follow Physiotherapist to recover your normal life.

Recent research suggests that short-term (less than five years) use of HRT is not associated with an increase in the risk of breast cancer, but that using it for more than ten years might be. Breast cancer is detected earlier in women using HRT, as they are more alert to the disease than other women.

I am 45, had slipped disc problem but I started playing Tennis, I don’t have much pain but have infrequent numbness on toes. Also developed little divulge on the playing right hand, not able to straighten the hand. What should I do?

DNB - Anesthesiology, FIPM, CCPPM, MBBS
Pain Management Specialist, Delhi
Dear lybrate-user its great that despite of slip disc you are playing tennis, it's a good exercise for body and building strength, you please start some cold packs for back and neck 10 min 3 times a day at both places, you might be having disc bulges at cervical region as well. So meet your nearest doctor for evaluation and management if cold packs not helping.

I am 27 years old. I am a district level cricketer (batsman and fast bowler). I am suffering from L5-S1 disc herniation since. 9 months. Now I have decided to take ayurvedic treatment. Is this treatment permanent or problem can reoccur? Can I be able to play again if yes then how much time will it take from starting date of my treatment to get fit and return to the sports.

You can undergo intermittent pelvic traction where in your half of your body weight will be added in the electronic traction so that that would help you to reduce the pain, along with Interferential therapy stimulations which would help you to get relieved from your problem. Apply ice for the pain to get subsided immediately.
