Dear Lybrate User, * To combat extra acid in your stomach baking soda is an effective and a commonly available antacid. The basic nature of soda neutralizes the excess hydrochloric acid in the stomach forming salt and water. Mix half teaspoon of baking soda in half a glass of water and drink the solution on an empty stomach. It will get you fast relief from gas and indigestion. *Buttermilk is a wonder remedy when it comes to treating indigestion and gas. It is easier to digest than milk and contains more lactic acid. Buttermilk is already recommended to keep yourself cool in harsh summers and its digestive benefits just give you another reason to drink up a glass of buttermilk *Avoid more spicy, maida related, dry, junk foods.

Patient who is smoking, consuming oily stuffs is more prone for acidity and gaseous dyspepsia (tobaco dyspepsia), such acidic refluxes and gas formation is more at bed time when patient is recumbent. For absurd dreams ,probably your father may have been suffering from mild insomnia, he lacks deep sleep (slumber phase) ,mostly restless sleep (REM or rapid eye movement phase) is accompanied with vivid dreams which may be pleasant or unpleasant. Sometimes shallow respiration (sleep apnoea) is also heralded with restless sleep and nightmares, this may have to do with various heart problems also. To have proper deep sleep, check with qualified doctor, avoid smoking, reduce intake of any stimulants .eat light specially dinner 2 hours before getting into bed. Certain informations such as addictions, concurrent illness, snoring, drug history, occupational involvement etc will guide your doctor to better solution. Good luck.

Hi, your issues/ symptoms as you describe point towards some mineral/ vitamin deficiency unless there is some other issue that requires to be clinically examined/ investigated. I would advise you to consult a general physician in person who can discuss with you and advise tests suitably to see if you are deficient in something, especially need to check your calcium & vitamin d levels. At the same time, ensure that you have balanced diet and a streamlined lifestyle. Exercise/ walk daily in fresh air for about 30 minutes and relax/ de-stress regularly. Exposure to early morning sun rays for 5 to 10 minutes daily helps replenish the vitamin d levels. In case you are a student still, set realistic goals and give your best while being focussed on your present. Its extremely important that you relax/ de-stress intermittently so that you stay engaged and do not get fatigued. It is advisable to avoid oily and fried stuff. Rather, consume more of fresh fruits & vegetables and stay hydrated. Drink 8 - 10 glasses of water daily. Cheese, yogurt, fish, fortified orange juice, soybeans, whole grain cereals, leafy greens are a few food items that you can include in your menu. Hope this helps. You may still connect with me for a detailed discussion should you require. All the very best. Sincerely
