Hello doctor. I am of 14 years and I had a password in my phone since a year and I knew it very well. But suddenly I was just blank for a second and forgot my password. Can it be memory loss or is it common thing.

Forgetting passwords is common that is why forgot password option is there, but if you get these blank episodes repeatedly you need to be evaluated.

In the beginning you may experience some milder form of side effects like dry mouth, constipation etc. Until you become well-adjusted. A few major side effects may occur to 3.9% of the population according to a study, only after continuous use of the drug for many years. Your psychiatrist knows when to reduce the doses or stop it. Please keep in touch with her.

Besides the pills, you can go for counselling to get to the root cause of the problem and develop skills to feel confident and in control. Meditation yoga homeopathy and ayurveda are excellent alternative treatment options too which dont have side effects.

Dear user Cannabis (Weed) intake is known to have such reactions. This usually normalizes after a few hours. However, regular cannabis use can lead to many psychological problems. I would advise that you should not consume cannabis. If your symptoms persist, you should seek detailed consultation with a psychiatrist. Regards.

had a great depression regarding life and always thinking of how to die. need an help plz

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd

You do not state any reason for this death wish. How old are you, anyway? To have a death wish at any time, is itself not normal. Your situation must be extraordinary for such desperation. Kindly seek a psychiatrist’s help without any delay, and take some responsible family member with you. Life is extremely precious, and everyone is turning the world upside down to survive and stretch life to the maximum. Please visit a geriatric ward and you will understand what I am saying. Something is bothering you that may appear impossible but that is the fallacy. Every problem has a solution and only by speaking with someone else will you come to know the different alternatives to your situation. People who are severely depressed tend to think suicidal thoughts, generally. Depression is treatable although it may not seem so to the depressed mind. Also, if you are religiously/spiritually-oriented, you will never entertain thoughts of destroying life. Suicide does not solve problems, facing life square-on does. You may be feeling hopeless under the circumstances but that will be so, if you are withdrawn and do not share your problem with others. Please seek help from a professional immediately. Alternatively, reach out to a religious person for some spiritual intervention.

There are effective medications to treat severe depression. ECT is an effective option, but if you are working it may lead to cognitive deficits. So make a wise choice. ECT as in patient would cost 5000 per administration, but you have to include the bed costs and hospital charges. It is given on alternate days for 5-7 times. So overall it might work out to about 70K to 1 lac for the entire treatment.

Only strong will power, determination, attending AA meetings and diverting mind when tempted will help you stop alcohol Alcohol causes 7 types of cancer, including breast, mouth and bowel cancers. When you drink alcohol, cancer-causing chemicals are formed. Alcohol also affects hormone levels and makes cells even more likely to be damaged by smoking. The less alcohol you drink, the lower the risk of cancer. No type of alcohol is better or worse than another, it is the alcohol itself that leads to the damage, regardless of whether it is in wine, beer or spirits. And drinking and smoking together are even worse for you. Not everyone who drinks alcohol will develop cancer. But on the whole, scientists have found that some cancers are more common in people who drink more alcohol than others. Every year, alcohol causes 4% of cancers .Tips to cut down on alcohol. There are lots of simple ways to cut down on the amount of alcohol you drink. It can help to work out if there are particular times or situations when you tend to have a drink, whether that’s a bad day at work or a weekly pub quiz tradition, and plan what you’ll say and do differently next time. Have more alcohol-free days a week. For liver health it’s best to have at least 2 days off alcohol in a row each week. Try agreeing on certain days with your partner or a friend and help each other and stick to it. If you are planning to drink alcohol, decide on a limit in advance and make sure you don’t go over it. Swap every other alcoholic drink for a soft one – starting with your first drink. Try shandy instead of a pint of beer, or swap some wine for soda and have a spritzer. Don’t stock up on beer, wine or spirits at home. Finish one drink before pouring another, because topping up drinks makes it harder to keep track of how much you’ve had and when you planned to stop. Avoid buying drinks in rounds, that way you don’t have to keep pace with anyone. Tell a friend or partner that you’re cutting down on alcohol, they can support you – or even join you.

A relative who is a 40 year old male came home and supposedly forgot anything and everything including the day and date. He seems to remember about his family and all but simply forgot what he did throughout the day. What could be the reason for this?

Alcohol and drug abuse, concussions and other trauma to the head can impact short-term memory. Medical conditions such as seizures, epilepsy, heart bypass surgery and depression can also impact short-term memory. One of the first signs of dementia isshort-term memory loss.
