You are going through grief reaction, which is normal after loss of a love. Time is the healer for the emotional and behavioral changes, however if your depression is severe enough to affect you in a significant manner, kindly consult a psychiatrist for short term antidepressant medication, depending on the complaints. Try to get away from loneliness and meet other friends or relatives.

sir my memory loss please help me.

PhD (Psychology), MSc Psychology, MS
Psychologist,
sir my memory loss please help me.
Dear, memory and mind power consists of understanding, storage and recollection of information you learn. Understanding depends on concentration. The more creative you are on doing tasks or reading, the more you understand. Storage and recollection depends on your understanding and how well you review what you have learned. Repetition and review of material learned and other tasks provides easy recollection. You can improve your concentration and total brain power with the help of green leafy vegetables, exercise, creative activities, number puzzles like sudoku etc. Hard work is the key to learning and recollection. Take care.

My uncle is alcoholic, he want to leave that, he is trying since from many days but he couldn't left. What he should do?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Your uncle has a good situation that he needs help and he also wants help. This is the best situation to give it up. Now it is difficult to do because he has become addicted to alcohol and has a lot to do. Under such circumstances it is best that you admit him into a de-addiction center and let him stay there for at least 6 months and after that attend counseling with a professional. There are medicines that help with the drinking just to ease the initial craving and to act as an antabuse i.e. he will have a serious reaction, if he consumes even a small quantity of alcohol or alcohol based substances. It has to be carefully monitored to see that he not only consumes the medication but is also avoiding alcohol. Ultimately, it is his will power and the support that he receives from the medical fraternity and his close and dear ones. He must also learn to substitute and deal with the oral need, a rigid value system, the script issue, and of course take a look at all the genetic factors to plan a strategy not to get into what is called ‘cross addictions’ i.e. another form of addiction that may appear alright but is in fact as bad as the primary addiction. The center or hospital and the counselor will advise and guide him on several measures and precautions he will need to take to stay with his resolve. Even after the rehabilitation he must attend AA meetings and continue this support for a long time. The family will also need to attend some sessions and go for Al-anon meetings for their co-dependency issues. He cannot be treated in isolation because the family has gotten used to his drinking and have made some unhealthy adaptations to somehow cope. The children will also have to attend meetings to work out their issues because of the father’s habit. In fact, they are all suffering from the Adult Children Of Alcoholics Syndrome (ACOAs), which in effect means that they are genetically predisposed to alcoholism or can have cross addiction problems and that they will have similar traits of the abusing alcoholic but in a milder form. There are special support groups for them all over the world. Should they touch or indulge in alcohol or any addictive substances or behaviors, they could also become full-fledged addicts themselves. He needs to make a serious plan with his wife and the children and whoever else’s support he can get and act on it fast.

Along with medicine. It it better to practice yoga and meditation. First introspect yourself what is your personal problems it is rectified or not. Or you may have share it to others. Internal problems and internal frustration may also cause for excessive anger. First clear your internal feelings in a healthy manner to share to closed then you do not have any type of anger. Sharing is the best solution for your problem. Ok best of luck.

What I can do when suffering from high blood pressure & mental stress?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist,
Both are related to each other. There is of course the physical aspect, that is, the health of the body must be taken care of through diet, rest, exercise and good relations. You may, for example, switch to low sodium salt, called? induppu? in south india. Regarding the mental stress, you should work with a counselor to develop coping skills and how to handle your emotions, effectively. You may also read a fabulous book written by dr. Dean ornish entitled? reversing the heart disease.

Im addicted to smoke weed? And now I wanna quite with smoking immediately. So what should I do?

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Stopping weed is like any other habit like smoking and has to be done immediately, promptly, and abruptly. When quitting, you must take one day at a time. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning and the high you get from the weed. In fact these conditions can exist all through the day unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking weed to have a reason that alarms you about continuing in the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. Though there are contravening information percolating from researchers of various kinds expounding about its benefits. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chewing gum. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation, even though you are into weed. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers of weed and cigarettes for some time i.e. at least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here?s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a refill, it is not the end of the world ? you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest.

Dear lybrate-user. I can understand. Possessiveness is irritating. You think you are being over possessive. I suggest you are in actual love with your body friend. But you must understand, the more possessive you are, the more is the chance that you lose him. No one likes possessiveness. Concentrate in your education or else immediately get married. Take care.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)

You are distracting from your aim. It shows weakness of your mind and nothing else. Just control your mind and think about your future. Studies is the easiest way to attain success and sometimes even glory. You will realise my words after few years. Just concentrate your mind on your studies and be focused because you will be known by your own name only after you attain heights and studies is a short cut to attain new heights. So always keep this in mind and target your goals, you will never forget. I will help you in this direction by prescribing you homoeopathic medicines------------------------------ bacoppa monneri (wilmar schwabe india) chew 2 tab twice daily------- bren-up (allen) drink 2 spoon 3 times daily-------- bramhari pranayam daily for 15 minutes ------------ report after 30 days--------------------

My age age is 22. I have problem of stammering. So help me to came out this problem.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Stammering is typically recognised by a tense struggle to get words out. This makes it different from the normal non-fluency we all experience which includes hesitations and repetitions. Commonly it involves repeating or prolonging sounds or words, or getting stuck without any sound (silent blocking). Sometimes people put in extra sounds or words. Often people lose eye contact. Some people who stammer talk their way round difficult words so that you may not realise they stammer at all. This avoidance of words, and avoidance of speaking in some or many situations, is an important aspect of stammering. Stammering varies tremendously from person to person and is highly variable for the person who stammers who may be fluent one minute and struggling to speak the next. Get an mri brain and eeg with a psychiatrist evaluation.
