I am suffering from anxiety. Is it a disease and if it is then its consequences and precautions.
Anxiety is a general term for several disorders that cause nervousness, fear, apprehension, and worrying. These disorders affect how you feel and behave, and they can manifest real physical symptoms. Mild anxiety is vague and unsettling, while severe anxiety can be extremely debilitating, having a serious impact on daily life.

I am not very active going lazzy every day what to do and my nerves system is getting slow and also I forgot tings its very difficult to remember any thing.

C.S.C, D.C.H, M.B.B.S
General Physician,
Strategies for Remembering 1. Become interested in what you're learning. We're all better remembering what interests us. Few people, for example, have a difficult time remembering the names of people they find attractive. If you're not intrinsically interested in what you're learning or trying to remember, you must find a way to become so. 2. Find a way to leverage your visual memory. You'll be surprised by how much more this will enable you to remember. For example, imagine you're at a party and are introduced to five people in quick succession. How can you quickly memorize their names? Pick out a single defining visual characteristic of each person and connect it to a visual representation of their name, preferably through an action of some kind. Remember: Memory is predominantly visual. 3. Create a mental memory tree. If you're trying to memorize a large number of facts, find a way to relate them in your mind visually with a memory tree. Construct big branches first, then leaves. Branches and leaves should carry labels that are personally meaningful to you in some way, and the organization of the facts ("leaves") should be logical.. 4. Associate what you're trying to learn with what you already know. It seems the more mental connections we have to a piece of information, the more successful we'll be in remembering it. This is why using mnemonics. Write out the items to be memorized over and over and over. 5. When reading for retention, summarize each paragraph in the margin. This requires you to think about what you're reading, recycle it, and teach it to yourself again. Even take the concepts you're learning and reason forward with them; apply them to imagined novel situations, which creates more neural connections to reinforce the memory. 6. Do most of your studying in the afternoon. Though you may identify yourself as a "morning person" or "evening person" at least one Study. suggests your ability to memorize isn't influenced as much by what time of day you perceive yourself to be most alert but by the time of day you actually study—afternoon appearing to be the best. 7. Get adequate sleep to consolidate and retain memories. Not just at night after you've studied but the day, you study as well. Far better to do this than to stay up cramming all night for an exam.

Where there is smoke, there is always fire. I am sure you cannot be all that innocent and suffering like this without reason. In every situation, we contribute in some way or the other to our problems. So if you look at what you are contributing to your situation, then you can change that and expect better results. If you know them apologise and meet her again and invite her back. But you must guarantee not to re[peat those problems. It is true that there are people who can be problematic even with the best of situations, yet I recommend that you try to win her over with love. You must also visit a counselor and sort out your issues under that person's guidance. Trying to resolve your problems without professional help will never work out because it seems like the problems are deep-rooted and needs external help. I don't know if the discord is beyond repair but it is worth trying with help from others, but seek the help of a professional only. You must own responsibility for your actions and change your behavior first. Both partners contribute to the situation though it may not be equal contribution. But the solution lies in both of you dealing with your own contributions to make a success out of the reconciliation.

You and your mom need to express your grief around the loss of this family member completely. A father and husband are a great loss for the both of you and that vacuum that he has created can never be filled adequately by anyone else. And the loss is, therefore, permanent. You need to talk about him and all the experiences he had brought into your lives to exhaust it out pf your system. Then gradually you will learn to accept it and come to terms with it too. This is a gradual process and at the end of it, you will have accepted the reality and can move on with your lives. If it is too intense, meet with a counselor and deal with it. It is better to deal with it now than to let it come up much later, which will affect your lives adversely. You will probably have to become the man of the house if there is no other male around. You will soon move on but for your mom, the loss is more difficult to handle. You must be there for her and support her extensively to come out of the grief.

I miss vaidehi patil age: 24 have been suffering from depression since a long time. I am very sensitive. I get angry and cry very easily. What should I do?

I miss vaidehi patil age: 24 have been suffering from depression since a long time.
I am very sensitive. I get angry ...
At your age and for the length of depression, you have had this claim is serious. If you have depression then there are some major ramifications to take into account. I believe there may be some genetic predisposition or there has been some childhood issue, related to anger, that needs urgent attention. You must go and meet with a counselor immediately and if that person advises that you meet with a doctor you must do so and cooperate to your utmost. Please visit these professionals along with your parents. In the meantime please do the following sincerely because you could resolve the problem better with good cooperation: Have a good night’s sleep, have a good breakfast of more proteins, meditate often, remain free of stress, eat a lot of fiber, nuts, avocado, exercise regularly, eat dark chocolate, do Yoga meditation exercises, etc. I suggest you do the opposite of what this depression makes you feel like doing (actually, not doing): you will need to fight this condition. You must become active; stay upright during the daylight time; meet people; never sleep during the day, wake up by 6 am every day, play some active games, especially contact games, do physical exercises, talk to people and join some social clubs, attend Yoga classes etc. Watch sitcoms on TV or comedies and cheer yourself up. Go for excursions in groups, for outings, camps, conferences, and religious conventions. Get a pet dog and spend time training it, exercising it and relating to it. Expose yourself to some sunlight every day, at least, 30 minutes but not in the scorching heat. Whatever happens, please incorporate these three important adaptations in your life: always be responsible, be respectful, and be functional. If you did these three, lots of things will go well in life. Please pray and have faith in God to alleviate your sufferings. Don’t wait for others to help. Use your own motivation, which might be at its lowest, but persevere and win this battle. Above all to be really happy, you need to live in love and for love. Learn all about emotions and how to handle them and that will get you out of the depression rather easily and quickly. A counselor is there only to facilitate you, all the hard word must come from you, and your cooperation with that person is very critical for your success. Be positive every day and learn to be contented with what you have. Do some left brain exercises: it is the happy brain. Here are a few suggestions: shut your left nostril and breathe, move your eyes from right to left and vice versa for at least half a minute at a time, and do callisthenic exercises with some form of counting, regularly. Whatever happens please cooperate with the therapy and do not discontinue until the condition is completely resolved.

Hello sir. I have a query related to my mental issue. As doctors says I am suffering from ocd problem from last 2 yrs. There is no positive results are coming. There are 15 doctors treated me. And all are well experienced. So I am finally hopeless. Approx 14 hours I am sleeping in 24 hours. Because if I don't do this I just can't control my self. And there is no such thoughts are coming in my mind which are related to ocd. But it is true my problem was started with an word like- I wanted to forgot something and for this I was started to many things. And finally I have gone in very deep. But at this time I am not doing something for this but my illusion-"i have problem" are not going. Please answer me that is it any mental issues of human being are there that can't be treat.

Hello sir. I have a query related to my mental issue. As doctors says I am suffering from ocd problem from last 2 yrs...
I am sure you are one the many people who have not combined medication with therapy. You absolutely need this and so you must return to medication and counseling. OCD can be easily explained away by too obvious a cause like you mention but it is more complicated. However, the bottom line of OCD is fear. Some deep-rooted fear that has not been handled properly is causing this reaction in you. Normally, when one type of medication does not work within 8 weeks, another is resorted to. Nothing is, therefore, hopeless unless you yourself give up. This si where counseling comes in very handy: it will help you stay motivated and keeps the desire going too. There may be some childhood trauma or setting where this fear has found itself and since it has not been resolved it will continue to plague you like this. Deal with the fear and you will have some relief, if not complete recovery.

Occasional anxiety is a normal part of life. You might feel anxious when faced with a problem at work, before taking a test, or making an important decision. But anxiety disorders involve more than temporary worry or fear. For a person with an anxiety disorder, the anxiety does not go away and can get worse over time. Restlessness or feeling wound-up or on edge being easily fatigued difficulty concentrating or having their minds go blank irritability muscle tension difficulty controlling the worry sleep problems (difficulty falling or staying asleep or restless, unsatisfying sleep) these are some of the symptoms. U seem to be having anxiety disorder, kindly consult a psychiatrist and get treated.

Smoking habit, my body is weak. Not capable to walk so long. Chest pain. Afraid to cancer.

Reparenting Technique, BA, BEd
Psychologist, Bangalore
Since you are afraid of cancer, get rid of this habit at once. It is a known cause of cancer. The other symptoms are also related to excessive smoking. You have to quit cold turkey because the body and mind will torture you endlessly while attempting a reduction in smoking. The tobacco tar in cigarette smoke lines your lung with huge patches that make that portion dysfunctional. Your oxygen carrying capacity is jeopardized, and breathing is impinged on. But don’t be discouraged because it is not too late even now to reverse all the ill-effects of smoking. I don’t know what other organs could be damaged but do go for a thorough medical check-up to assess the effects of your abuse. Regarding improving your lungs, do a lot of aerobic exercise breathing through your nostrils only. Then there are a lot of deep breathing exercises in Yoga which you can learn too. Deep breathing cleanses your system and lungs and restores it to good health. Deep breathing uses the 80% of the lungs which are not normally used in normal breathing and even when exerting yourself. The greatest effect is in the lungs because this substance is processed through the respiratory system directly through the lung surface. When quitting, you must take one day at a time; though you must give up all smoking at once, and promptly. If you look too far ahead you will get discouraged and will give up. If you sit and count the number of days you have given up, that will also focus too much on achievement. You must focus on the here and now, on that day to be precise. After all quitting is not that easy due to many factors. So even if you fail one day, you must try and try again. Very few people succeed in their first attempt. Your persistence will eventually pay off. The urge to discontinue is hampered by many factors but the worst of them is the conditioning. In fact, these conditions can exist all through the day, unlike other addictions. But your desire to want to stop is the most important factor. It is important to find out about the ill-effects of smoking to have a reason that alarms you about continuing the habit. The information is really scary but true and you must remind yourself about this every day. The nicotine in tobacco smoke stimulates the heartbeat to raise the blood pressure in no time at all. So you must avoid it like the plague: it is just very bad medicine for you. In fact, it is highly toxic too. You will need to stop smoking or consuming any tobacco related items with immediate effect. You should start vigorous exercises, gradually increasing it over a period of time. Do deep breathing exercises every time you feel like smoking (try Yoga), and replace the oral urge with some healthy food substitute to satiate the need. You may also take hard candy or chew gum. If the urge is too strong, then use nicotine gums and nicotine patches, for a little while until the smoking drive reduces, substantially. You may also join Smokers Anonymous in your city where the support is really extraordinary for like-minded people who are also in the same situation. Keep yourself occupied or engaged with interesting activities during the times when it is most tempting. Keep the company of non-smokers for some time i.e. At least for the first 21 days. Above all announce it to everyone that you have quit smoking. Here’s a piece of very good advice: even if you accidentally/willfully take a cigarette, it is not the end of the world – you can start the cessation all over again. You must persevere with the best support until you defeat this addiction. Counseling is very useful in the initial stages and when temptations are at their highest. You could also join twitter2quit program and enjoy its success to give up smoking.

Hi lybrate-user, sometimes there is no external reason for depression its due to neuro-chemical imbalance in brain. You should consult a psychiatrist for medication, if you tell me your symptoms in detail I would be able to screen the severity of your depression. Have more fruits in your diet- banana's, more green leafy vegetables and dry fruits, if non veg- have fish. Try to exercise daily for 30 minutes.
