According to MRI and CT scan reports there are a small thin wall cystic focus in inferior of left basal ganglia with enlarged virchow robins space in my wife's brain. Sir is it fatal disease? And is surgery necessary?

MD - Homeopathy, BHMS
Homeopath, Pune
A brain cyst is a small sac that is filled with air, liquid or another type of material. Cysts are different than tumors. A cyst is small, noncancerous sac. A tumor, in contrast, is caused by the abnormal growth of cancerous cells, forming a lump full of tissue. A brain cyst may not cause any symptoms or it may cause a variety of different symptoms, depending on where in the brain it is located. Brain cysts can have several different causes. Many types of brain cysts arise while a fetus is developing in the womb, caused by a developmental abnormality. Other types of cysts, including dermoid and epidermoid cysts, also occur because of an abnormality of brain development. These cysts occur when cells that are programmed to turn into skin tissue accidentally become trapped on the inside of the developing fetal brain. Although cysts and tumors are completely different types of structures, some brain cysts may be caused by the rapid growth of cells that cause tumors. The pork tapeworm, called Taenia solium, burrows into human tissue and forms small, hard cysts Secondary arachnoid cysts, which is the name used for cysts that develop later in life, may be caused by an injury to the brain or as a complication of brain surgery Surgery may or may not be require depending on the cause and the symptoms it is currently causing vs post surgical outcome.

I had headache, vomiting 3 months back. I consulted doc and he told me these are symptoms of migraine. Now I am fine but I have a query shall I accept night duty?

MBBS, Diploma in Nutrition and Health Education (DNHE), Diploma in Clinical Cosmetology
General Physician, Noida
You can do 1-2 night duty in a month I am giving some health tips for Migraine headache •1.You can turn off light for some time •2.Apply hot or cold compresses to your head or neck. •Ice packs have a numbing effect, which may dull the sensation of pain. •Hot packs and heating pads can relax tense muscles. •3.Warm showers or baths may have a similar effect. •4.You can take Tea or coffee( but not excess) 5.Sleep well Here are some tips to encourage sound sleep. Establish regular sleep hours. •Minimize distractions. •Your eating habits can influence your migraines. •Be consistent. Eat at about the same time every day. Don't skip meals. Fasting increases the risk of migraines Avoid foods that trigger migraines kindly consult Physician for further management

Fits can be psychological as well. This will be clear by brain scan. If reports show any abnormality, medicines are the answer. If all reports normal, her problem is psychological. Then, you need to take her to a good psychologist.
