I am 18 years old girl and I am suffering with irregularity in my monthly period. Tell me please what cam be the reason.

DHMS (Diploma in Homeopathic Medicine and Surgery)
Homeopath, Ludhiana
I am 18 years old girl and I am suffering with irregularity in my monthly period. Tell me please what cam be the reason.
Menstrual cycle can be disturbed if you have an imbalance of the hormones oestrogen and progesterone. It's not unusual to have a hormone imbalance for a few years after puberty and before the menopause. This can cause your menstrual cycle to become longer or shorter. Your periods may also become lighter or heavier. Lifestyle The following lifestyle factors can also upset your balance of hormones and cause irregular bleeding: • extreme weight loss or weight gain • excessive exercise • stress Polycystic ovary syndrome Polycystic ovary syndrome (PCOS) occurs when very small cysts (small, fluid-filled sacs) develop in the ovaries. The usual symptoms of PCOS are irregular or light periods or no periods at all. This is because, in women with PCOS, ovulation (the release of an egg) may not take place as often as normal. The production of hormones may also be unbalanced, and you could have higher levels of testosterone than normal. Testosterone is a male hormone that women usually have a small amount of. Thyroid disorders A thyroid disorder is another possible, but rare, cause of irregular periods. The thyroid gland, found in the neck, produces hormones that maintain the body's metabolism (the chemical processes your body uses to turn food into energy). Your Doctor may test for a thyroid problem by taking a blood test to check levels of thyroid hormones in your blood. Anaemia Iron deficiency due to improper diet intake can sometimes lead to irregular periods. So a thorough phyical examination is required regarding the weight History,Menstrual history,Dietary habits and any life tyle change that tookplace in her life.Only then we can reach to a diagnosis and can start a treatment for that particular problem

My vagina is becoming dark day by day and its near area is full of blackheads please suggest me some medical cream or some thing that make vagina fair my husband do not want to make physical relation at this tym due to dark vagina area.

BHMS, DEMS
Homeopath, Pune
Hello Lybrate user, Dark vaginal color may be due to hyper pigmentation, it may be due to the side effects of using certain medications or lubricating creams. It may occurs due to wearing of polyster or synthetic underwear. Always wear cotton underwear. Do not use too tight underwear and allow free movement of air. Here are following tips to lighten the dark vaginal area :- Clean the vagina regularly. Apply a mixture of lemon juice and turmeric paste, it is a natural bleach to treat this darkening. Take slice of papaya and rub it against the dark pigmented area of vagina. Clean the vagina with baking soda, is also one of the reliable remedy for dark vagina. Avoid using any kind of talcum powder on the vagina. Eat plenty of fruits and vegetables, both contain vitamins that are necessary for skin health. Avoid shaving the pubic area too often and avoid hair removing cream. Some homoeopathic medicines can also cure this. Consult me if you need the homoeopathic medicinal advice.

No it is not possible to reliably detect as of now. Dont focus too much on it. Since the baby's grandmother is the only person having schizophrenia in the family, his/ her chances of having schizophrenia is anyway very low.

I am a 23 year old female and my partner and I have unprotected sex every time we do it. Since September, I have not had my period but there was the occasional discharge. Now I am having an increase in this discharge starting towards the end of April. Also I took a pregnancy test and it showed nothing. Am I infertile? Please help. Its been 8 months since ive missed my period.

MD Gynaecology, MBBS
Gynaecologist, Ahmedabad
It is very unusual for a woman to have missed her periods for 8 months without pregnancy. Have you got a ultrasound done. You might be having secondary amenorrhea. You need to get some blood tests done to rule out major hormonal imbalance.

If 6 months have been elapsed, you and your wife should consult a doctor to find out the cause why there is no issue coming and the doctor will start treatment. But there is no method, by which a baby of desired sex can be produced.

Causes of Renal Transplant Rejection

MBBS, MS-General Surgery , FMAS, FIAGES
General Surgeon, Gurgaon
Causes of Renal Transplant Rejection

Living with a renal transplant constantly exposes you to the risk of organ rejection. Although it might sound scary, it usually happens because the medication needs to be tuned according to the requirements of your body. A change in medication usually solves the problem of a possible rejection, and a rejection becomes less likely if it doesn't happen within a year of the transplant. Some obvious signs of rejection are a pain on the region of transplant, fever, change in weight or low urine discharge.

The causes behind a renal rejection vary on the basis of the type of rejection that takes place. Here are three different types of renal rejection and their causes:

  • Hyperacute Rejection - Hyperacute rejection occurs within 24 hours of the transplant. It can have an immediate effect and occurs as the existing antibodies act against the grafted material, causing irreversible destruction. The immune system may recognize it as a foreign body and destroy it. Hyperacute rejection is common for patients who have received multiple blood transfusions or have suffered from transplant rejection earlier. The tissue must be removed immediately before it becomes fatal for the recipient. This type of rejection can generally be avoided if the doctors type or match both the receiver and the organ donor. The organ is less likely to be rejected if there are similar antigens between donor and receiver.
  • Acute Rejection - Acute rejection generally occurs after the first week of transplantation. Acute rejection is common in most recipients. Since a perfect match of antigens is rare to find, except in the case of identical twins, some amount acute rejection occurs in the case of all recipients. It can cause complications like bleeding and inflammation. The risk of acute rejection is highest in the first three months of the transplant.
  • Chronic Rejection - Chronic rejection occurs months later after the transplantation. This happens over time when the immune system of the body reacts against the transplanted tissue and slowly damages the organ. In such a case, the kidneys can suffer from scarring or fibrosis and damaged blood vessels.
