Why do I get Knots in Muscles in Neck and Back?

BPTh/BPT, MPTh/MPT
Physiotherapist, Noida
Why do I get Knots in Muscles in Neck and Back?

What are muscle knots?
Muscle knots are points within a muscle where contracted fibers are unable to release 1, or, as the dictionary puts it: highly irritable localized spots of exquisite tenderness in a nodule in palpable taunt bands of muscle tissue.

A common problem for active people, muscle knots technically called myofascial trigger points, or mtps feel like a small knot to your fingertips. These knots can range from the size of a pinhead in smaller muscles to the size of your thumb in larger muscles. 2

Muscle knots can cause pain in two ways: (1) latent trigger points, which are knots that only hurt when you put pressure on them, and (2) active trigger points, which are knots that actively refer pain along your neural pathways, causing it in non-localized areas.

Trigger points in a constant state of contraction have excess metabolic waste and oxygen use because blood flow to this area stops this sends pain signals to the brain. Because your brain wants to stop the pain, it commands the muscle to rest, which leads to under-usage of the muscle. This is what makes the muscle shorten and tighten up.

What causes muscle knots?
The most common causes of muscle knots are:

1) accidents acute trauma, such as bad falls sports injuries that strain you joints and muscles
2) postural stress sitting too long with poor posture, sitting with no support, lifting improperly
3) overstimulation

Poly cystic overy syndrome or PCOD is mainly a problem related to harmone (excess production of androgen in females) which leads to varierty of signs and symptoms. It manifest as number of small cysts in the ovaries, menstrual irrgularties such as irregular, delayed or no menstrual cycles, obesity and weight gain, acne and excess growth of facial and bodily hairs at the same time hair fall on scalp, in the same pattern which occures in males (Hirsutism) and insulin resiistance are some of the common one. PCOD is curable in Homeopathy but you have to be little patience as treatment of PCOD is takes little time to cure. Conventional method of treatment hardly have any cure for PCOD. Homeopathy offers the best alternative because Homeopathy focuses on treating the root cause of the problem without any side effects. Along with Homeopathic medicines whatever she is using I will suggest her followings lifestyle modifications: 1.Avoid eating non veg completely. 2.Take less of Urad dal items such as idli, vada etc 3.can start taking walnut or flax seeds 4.take green tea on daily basis 5.start doing some de stressing activity daily for at least 10-15 minutes.

Easy Ayurvedic solutions to ageing!

Easy Ayurvedic solutions to ageing!

Are you one of those geniuses who cry on their every birthday? The nightmare that growing up is; has you bawling your eyes out every year when you look in the mirror and see that one newborn wrinkle! Botox is not the solution, neither is plastic surgery.

Not to miss the fact that there are a million creams available for wrinkles in the market (and most of our celebrities swearing by them), but why go cream shopping when you can simply go Ayurvedic!

Here are five simple Ayurvedic tricks that will destroy all your wrinkles:

1. Massage your face with almond oil or just apply castor oil on your wrinkles at night and leave it overnight. It’s easy and simple. You will definitely start noticing the difference.

2. A very effective treatment for wrinkles is Indian gooseberry or Amlaki. They are a rich source of vitamin C and rubbing it on the wrinkles will definitely lighten them.

3. Grate some cucumber and sieve it to get the juice. Apply the juice on the wrinkle affected area daily for half an hour and see visible results within two weeks.

4. Eat a mixture made of ginger and honey to treat the wrinkles. It will not only reduce them but also keep them at bay.

5. Tulsi or Basil is famous for its anti-ageing properties. Drink a decoction made from the leaves or simply chew a few leaves every day to slacken the development of wrinkles. Growing up is inevitable, but delaying it is definitely a piece of cake with Ayurveda!

I had stomach ache badly what should I do N I want to gain fat So why should I do.

N I want to gain fat
So why should I do.
Hello. For the time being, take Biochemic medicine - Mag. Phos. 6x/ after every 2 hrs. for 2 days. But need to know more symptoms and associated problem with it to find out the root cause of your problem. Better visit a nearby doctor. To gain weight: Gaining weight is a slow process which requires patience and dedication! The food what and how you eat, makes the difference! For increasing your weight, concentrate on the below points ( if you don’t have any medical condition) which helps in gaining weight in a right way without harming your body. - Consume more healthy fats. Foods containing healthy fats are full of nutrients and also high in calories, making them a great option for weight gain. Foods containing plant fats should be your first option - this includes items such as nuts, seeds, peanut butter, avocados and olive oil. Foods containing healthy animals fats include lean meats and full fat dairy products - although if you have high cholesterol, you should probably stick to low-fat options. -Eat more protein. Good sources of protein include lean meat, fish and poultry, in addition to eggs, whole grains, dairy products and legumes. -Drink more calories. Try drinking a large glass of orange juice in the mornings (along with your normal breakfast). Drink a glass or two of full-cream milk throughout the day.Protein shakes will help you to gain muscle mass, particularly if you're working out. -Have 6 small and frequent meals in a day. -Gain muscle mass. It's a good idea to continue to exercise while you attempt to gain weight the healthy way. Strength training includes working with weights and performing exercises such as squats, deadlifts, bench presses, bicep curls, crunches, chin-ups and leg curls. Just keep in mind that the more you exercise, the more calories you will need to consume to replace those you lost while working out. This is where protein shakes and bars really come in handy. -Quit smoking. As it suppresses the appetite. -Stay healthy. The most important thing through the entire weight gain process is to stay healthy - eating a balanced diet and continuing to exercise throughout. -Take enough of rest and sleep for rejuvenation of the cells and tissues. -Think Positive which will help you in achieving your target of gaining weight. -Avoid taking unnecessary stress/ tension. Medication: Take Schwabe’s Alfaalfa Tonic and Five Phos., both thrice daily ½ an hour before meals for 1month.

I am 22 years, I have dust allergy since 13 years and have skin allergies too. How to recover from it?
Is your dust allergy is severe? dust allergies are caused by many substances like pollen, mites, wood etc. Many lifesyle changes can help: avoid using galichas\carpeting instead go for hardwood or vinyl\ tiles floors. Vacuum upholstered furniture such as sofas. Wood, leather, plaster, or metal furniture is better for dust allergies. Replace drapes with roll-up window shades. If you must have curtains, wash them in hot water each season. Get rid of stuffed animals, stuffed furnitures, soft toys, and other dust collectors. Once you get the allergy then it can be cured by use of certain medications which I may prescribe. Do reply back for medication prescriptions. Being also a general physician and registered dietitian, I prescribe both evidence based herbal as well as allopathic medicines complementing with dietary guidelines and home remedies carefully personalized for each individual patient.

Dear lybrateuser, - Your problem could be due to GERD - also avoid painkillers & antibiotics as they cause acidity & heartburn - avoid spicy, fried & junk food - do not skip meals, have meals on time, chew your food well, have 4-5 small meals rather than three large ones, have dinner 2-3 hrs before bedtime - take tablet Pan 40, 1 tab half an hour before breakfast - have 7-8 glasses of water for proper digestion & removal of wastes from the body.

I have problem of masturbating twice or thrice a week. I have been facing problem of blood clotting for a long time. ...
Dear Lybrate user. I can understand. MASTURBATION is normal, natural and never unhealthy. But Excess masturbation can kill your sexual stamina. Excess masturbation can also cause anxiety disorder, depression and thereby erectile dysfunction, premature ejaculation etc. You can be sure; there are no side effects to masturbation if you are able to restrict it to thrice a week. Jogging and physical exercise are always good to keep you fit and stop worrying about sex and allied thinking. I suggest online sex counseling and therapy. Take care.
