Hi, I appreciate you seeking help. When did you finish your chemo radiation cycles? assuming that you are getting intense pain in throat, at present, I shall only advise you to gargle with a warm solution of chamomile tea, lemon and honey, three times daily. Along with, you can also try warm saline gargling, with a pinch of fresh turmeric/ salt added to warm water. Do try hot steam inhalation (only) a couple of times daily and use a good humidifier in the bed room. However, I may be able to help you feel better still, if I get to know as to where exactly you stand today with respect to your cancer treatment.

MBBS, MD - Medicine, MD - Oncology, Fellow of the Royal Society of Tropical Medicine and Hygiene (FRSTM & H)

Benign tumor is non cancerous. For aesethetic conditions it needs to be removed or if it is causing problems it needs to be removed. No drug will cure it.

HI, What is the symptoms of the throat cancer? Which doctor should I choose for throat cancer and it's is curable or not?

Diploma In Gastroenterology, Diploma In Dermatology, BHMS
Homeopath, Hyderabad
Symptoms of Throat Cancer: It can be difficult to detect throat cancer in its early stages. Look out for the following signs and symptoms to detect it as early as possible. ● Chronic cough ● Change in your voice, such as hoarseness or not speaking clearly ● Trouble swallowing also known as dysphagia ● Sore throat ● Swelling of the eyes, jaw, throat or neck ● Swollen lymph nodes in the neck ● Constant need to clear your throat ● Persistent ear pain ● Unexplainable weight loss Early stage cancers of the throat are small, localized, and highly curable when treated with surgery and/or radiation therapy. Early stage disease includes stage I, II, and some stage III cancers. Stage I cancer is no more than 2 centimeters in size (about 1 inch) and has not spread to lymph nodes in the area.

You have all the symptoms of an enlarged prostate most likely a benign (non cancerous) growth. Get an ultra sound abdomen and pelvis with full urinary bladder, and repeat the test after passing urine, called post voiding test which will show how much urine is left out after you normally pass this gives a fair idea of growth of prostate, my opinion is to see a urologist right away and follow his advice.

Hello I am 21 years girl and I had once pain in breast an since last 2 days its hard around nipples what should I do an is it a symptom of breast cancer?

DGO, MBBS
Sexologist, Kolkata
Breast pain is a common problem if it occurs before periods, because it happens due to hormonal changes, however if the pain stays all through the month but you can feel some hardness so you may need to do ultrasound examination of breasts. Cancer 'usually' does not occur at this age, it may be an infection, see a doctor.

Wether you will be alright after 3 months will depend on the improvement in symptoms you show over 3 months. If you continue to be symptomatic after 3 months you might need to continue it even for alonger period of time.

Dear Sir See a medical oncologist. He is the best person to suggest if you should go for chemotherapy. Remember age is not a criteria for not giving chemotherapy if your doctor and you feel that you are FIT.

Rectal Cancer - Types Of Surgeries That Can Help!

Rectal Cancer - Types Of Surgeries That Can Help!

Rectal cancer is the growth of cancerous cells in the rectum, which is the colon’s lower part of the colon, connecting the large bowel and the anus. The basic function of the rectum is to collect the stool that is formed inside the human body before it is eliminated from the body. The cancer starts as a polyp, which is precancerous, and slowly develops and turns cancerous. This cancer will start spreading and penetrates into the walls of the rectum causing rectal cancer.

Surgery is the most common treatment available for rectal cancer. Depending on the location of the cancer and the type of cancer, there are different types of rectal cancer surgeries available. One of the important things that are considered before deciding which kind of surgery is required is the location of the tumor from the anus.

Types of Surgeries for Rectal Cancer:
Here are different types of surgeries available for different stages of rectal cancer.

  1. Low Anterior Resection Surgery: When the cancer or the tumor is located above the anus, then low anterior resection surgery is the best surgery. The rectal cancer, adjoining rectal tissues and the lymph nodes are removed. This surgery is done by making an incision in the lower part of the abdomen. This surgery is used for stage 1 cancer.
  2. Abdominoperineal Resection Surgery: Abdominoperineal resection surgery is preferred when the tumor is close to the anus. It can be used for treating stage 1 cancer and also can be used for stage II and stage III as well. The rectal cancer, the anus, adjusting rectal tissues and the lymph nodes are removed.
  3. Local transanal resection: When the cancer is in its early stage and is not far from the anus, your surgeon will opt for local transanal resection surgery. Usually, the tumor has to be small for performing this surgery.
  4. Proctectomy with colo-anal anastomosis: You may have to remove the entire rectum if the tumor is present in the middle or lower part of the rectum. This is usually in stage II or stage III. This kind of situation requires proctectomy with colo-anal anastomosis.
  5. Transanal endoscopic microsurgery: When the tumor is above the rectum and is in its early stage, transanal endoscopic microsurgery is the best method. But for performing this surgery, experts with special equipment are required.
  6. Pelvic exenteration: When the rectal cancer starts growing to the organs near to rectum, pelvic exenteration is required. This is a time consuming major surgery. Usually, along with the rectum, other organs such as the bladder, uterus or prostate is also removed. The patient will take months to recover from this major surgery.
