International Women's Health Day - Common Gynaecological Problems & Ways to Prevent Them!

Women’s anatomy is different from men’s anatomy and so are the problems that they face. Women’s anatomy is special, complicated, and unique, they face several gynaecological problems at different stages. Getting to know your body, possible health problems, their causes, and preventive measures will help you stay away from such health issues.

Causes of gynaecological problems in today’s life:
Today, most women are career focussed and work extensively. The enormous work pressure is a leading cause of many of the gynaecological disorders. A recent study shows that 68% of working women suffer lifestyle diseases like obesity, depression, diabetes, hypertension and backache. Most of them skip meals and often eat junk and processed food. Environment pollution, lack of sleep, less sunlight exposure, lack of exercise, poor nutrition, anxiety, insecurity, excessive intake of alcohol and drug are among the other causes of these diseases. The lifestyle changes and lack of awareness have resulted in problems like breast cancer, infertility, menstrual disorders, high-risk pregnancy, sexually transmitted diseases, etc.

Some common gynaecological problems:

  1. Breast Cancer: One of the leading cause of untimely death in women is breast cancer. Many women irrespective of the race and region are getting affected by breast cancer. Women over forty years are more prone to this cancer. Early diagnosis and general lifestyle changes result in increased survival rate. As a preventive measure for breast cancer, women over 40 years should opt for a mammogram scan once in 2 years. Self-examination of breasts is recommended as well.
  2. Menstrual Disorders: Menstrual disorders include Amenorrhea, Menorrhagia, Irregular bleeding, Dysmenorrhoea, etc. Common causes for menstrual disorders are stress, hormonal imbalance, birth control pills, diet, lack of physical activities, etc. When the menstrual cycle is absent, it is called Amenorrhea, and when the secretion of menstrual fluid is more than the average, it is called Menorrhagia.
  3. Infertility: The inability to conceive a baby is called infertility and the problem seems to be on the rise every year. The major causes of infertility in women are inadequate levels of hormones and problems with ovulation. Many treatments are available to improve the chances of conception. Hormone treatments, drugs to increase fertility, and surgical procedures to name a few. However, regular exercises, balanced diet, and stress-free life are natural ways that may offer a huge relief from this problem.
  4. High-risk pregnancy: When in a pregnancy there are too many complications than the normal pregnancy it is called a High-risk pregnancy. Late marriage, lifestyle disorders, conceiving after 35years may cause a high-risk pregnancy. In a high-risk pregnancy bleeding during the 3rd trimester, RH incompatibility, abnormalities of reproductive tract may happen.

Preventive measures against the gynaecological problems:
Other than the medicinal and clinical support there are some precautions by which a woman can take away the gynaecological problems from herself.

  1. Healthy Diet: Lots of fresh fruits and green vegetables along with a well-balanced diet is imperative for a disease-free life. Avoid junk foods, aerated drinks, and fatty foods. Don’t skip the meal and eat in proper time.
  2. Physical activity every day: Indulge in any kind of physical activity or sport. From swimming to running to yoga and aerobics, choose the one you love and get going, every day. Being active is the key to keep lifestyle diseases away.

Signs & Symptoms of Kapha Imbalance!

Kapha is responsible for governing all body functions related to lubrication. Some of the typical body functions that Kapha has a direct impact upon includes lubrication of lungs and joints, body weight, growth, and formation of the seven tissues- fat, bone marrow, nutritive fluid, reproductive tissues and fat. There could be several symptoms indicating an imbalance of Kapha in the system.

Some of them include the following:

  1. Mind: An increased Kapha of the mind is characterised by symptoms, such as a feeling of lethargy, drowsiness, and sluggishness, excessive sleep, feeling of depression and melancholy, laziness and brain fog. An accumulation of Kapha in the mind can lead to severe depression, withdrawal symptoms, diabetic coma and frequent loss of consciousness.
  2. Digestive tract: Kapha can wreak havoc on the digestive tract. Some early signs of Kapha accumulation in the digestive tract include a heavy feeling in the stomach, indigestion, excess salivation, poor appetite, nausea, slow metabolism etc. As a result of excess Kapha, the stool can be sticky, pale, heavy and oily. This can lead to diabetes and mucoid diarrhea. If not treated early excess Kapha can lead to hyperglycemia, anorexia nervosa, and blood in the stool.
  3. Kapha accumulation in skin, adipose tissue, muscles and circulatory system: An accumulation of Kapha in other parts of the body can lead to hypertension, itching, lipoma formation, cold sweat, swollen lymph, pallor, low strength of the body, itching etc. In the case of long standing Kapha accumulation some serious aggravation from the present condition can lead to obesity, thrombosis, leukaemia, malignant tumours, edema, high cholesterol, blood stagnation, hypertrophy, heart failure etc.
  4. Kapha in respiratory system: Kapha in the respiratory tract can lead to coughs, hay fever, sinuses, nasal crust, chest pain, runny nose, excess mucus and frequent cold. If the existing condition becomes serious and treatment is not done on time, some serious complications can lead to cystic fibrosis, sinus infections, excess phlegm in the throat, chronic sinus etc.
  5. Other parts of the body: If Kapha accumulates in other parts of the body it can lead to symptoms such as excess urination, low libido, premature ejaculation, heavy testicles, swelling of the joints, dental tartar, sex desire, fibrocystic lumps, goiter, enlarged spleen, gallstones, endometriosis, cystic ovary, lordosis, protruded eyes, heavy feeling of the eye, prostate enlargement, white urine, neurofibromas, hydrocephalus, gangrene , prolonged menstrual cycle osteoma, kyphosis, prostatic calculi, bone spurs etc.
  6. Food to avoid Kapha symptoms: Some foods that need to be avoided include carbonated drinks, oily food, chilled food, deep fried snacks, red meat, foods which are heavy to digest, milk especially buffalo milk, sweets, Ghee, fruits like Banana, Mango etc. excess salt and sour, all forms of alcohol except red wine, the latter can be consumed no more than once in a week.

Hi lybrate user 1) avoid oily, spicy, junk, fermented and stale foods 2) sleep upto 10-10.30 pm 3) avoid coffee and tea a) take 2 tsf of shatavari kalp with 250 ml of lukewarm milk, in the morning instead of break fast b) take 200 ml of fresh buttermilk with pinch of black salt after meals c) take 2 tablets of mahalaxmivilas rasa along with 1 tsf of honey and 30 ml of aamla juice early morning on empty stomach d) eat 30-40 black currants and 1 tsf of jaggery during meal do all these things for 30 days it gives you good result thanks.

गर्भावस्था महिलाओं के लिए एक ऐसी अवस्था है जिसमें उनके शरीर में कई परिवर्तन होते हैं. जिनमें काफी सारे परिवर्तनों के होने के पीछे हार्मोन जिम्मेदार होते हैं. इस दौरान उनके खान-पान से लेकर कई ऐसी चीजें हैं जिसमें परिवर्तन की आवश्यकता होती है. गर्भावस्था में महिलाओं को ज्यादा कैलोरी वाला आहार दिया जाना चहिए. इन आहारों में प्रोटीन, कार्बोहाइड्रेट और वसा का सही संतुलन, सब्जियों और फलों की एक विस्तृत विविधता के साथ शामिल होना ठीक रहता है. बच्चे को विकसित करने के लिए ये भी सुनिश्चित करें कि आहार पर्याप्त पोषक तत्वों से भरा हो जिससे उसके शरीर में स्वस्थ परिवर्तन उत्पन्न हो. आइए गर्भावस्था के दौरान लिए जाने वाले आहारों को जानें जिसमें निम्नलिखित तत्वों की प्रचुरता हो.

1. प्रोटीन
प्रोटीन हमारे शरीर के लिए बहुत जरुरी हैं. मांसपेशियों, त्वचा और अंगों को आगे बढ़ने और खुद को मजबूत रखने के लिए प्रोटीन की जरूरत होती है. अपनी डायट में चिकन, अंडे, ड्राई फ्रूट्स, दाल और अनाज को शामिल करें. आप शाकाहारी हैं तो आप सोयाबीन, उबले हुए चने, पनीर और टोफू ले सकते हैं. जिन खाद्य पदार्थों में उच्च मात्रा में प्रोटीन पाया जाता है उन्हें अपनी डायट में अवश्य शामिल करें.
2. कैल्शियम
कैल्शियम का सेवन भी हमारे स्वास्थ्य के लिए बेहद जरुरी है. गर्भावस्था के दौरान कैल्शियम महत्वपूर्ण है. कैल्शियम के लिए रोजाना अपनी डायट में कम से कम 2 गिलास दूध शामिल करें. कैल्शियम से भरपूर खाद्य पदार्थों दूध, दही, डेयरी उत्पाद, दलिया, साग, बादाम और तिल आदि का सेवन करें.
3. फोलिक एसिड
गर्भावस्था के दौरान फोलिक एसिड का सेवन गर्भवती मां के लिए बहुत जरूरी है. फोलिक एसिड आपके बच्चे के न्यूरल ट्यूब के दोष के जोखिम को कम करने में मदद करता है. आप खाद्य पदार्थ जैसे कि स्ट्रॉबेरी, संतरे, दलिया, पत्तेदार सब्जियों, फलों को अपने भोजन में शामिल करके फोलिक एसिड पा सकते हैं.
4. आयरन
गर्भवती महिलाओं में आयरन की कमी हो जाती है इलसिए इसका सेवन महत्वपूर्ण है. चिकित्सक के परामर्श से इस दौरान पर्याप्त मात्रा में आयरन का सेवन करने के लिए आयरन की गोली भी खा सकते हैं. मछली, चिकन, अंडे की जर्दी, ब्रोकली, मसूर, मटर, पालक, जामुन, सोयाबीन, किशमिश, जैसे सूखे फल डायट में शामिल करें. आयरन मांस, सेम, मुर्गी, बीज और चावल जैसे खाद्य पदार्थों में भी होता है.
5. तरल पदार्थ
तरल पदार्थों का सेवन हमारे शरीर से कई विषाक्त पदार्थों के निष्कासन में मदद करता है. रोजाना नारियल पानी पिएं. तरल पदार्थ विशेष रूप से पानी और ताजा फलों के रस, सुनिश्चित करें कि आप स्वच्छ उबला हुआ या फ़िल्टर्ड पानी पीते है.
6. विटामिन बी 6
इस दौरान गर्भवती मां को विटामिन बी 6 से भरपूर खाद्य पदार्थों का सेवन करना चाहिए. गर्भवती महिला अपनी डायट में खट्टे फल, अंडे, हरी पत्तेदार सब्जियां और आलू को शामिल करके इसकी कमी दूर कर सकती है.
7. ऊर्जावान रहने के लिए
गर्भावस्था में ऊर्जावान रहने के लिए आहार में अनाज और रोटी, आटा, चावल की तरह सरल कार्ब्स और आलू को शामिल करना चाहिए. आप अपनी डायट में मीट, हरी पत्तेदार सब्जियां, साबुत अनाज ब्रेड, सूखे फल, और सेम को शामिल करने का प्रयास करें.
8. ऊर्जावान रहने के लिए
शिशु के शरीर में विटामिन ई, विटामिन बी कॉम्प्लेक्स, आयरन और मैग्नीशियम जैसे पोषक तत्वों की जरूरत को पूरा करने के लिए गेहूं, रागी, चावल, मक्का, जई को अपनी डायट में शामिल करें. वसायुक्त मछली और मांस खाने से बचना चाहिए. डायट में आप यदि दुबला मांस, व्हाइट मछली, अंडे, काले सेम, टोफू जैसे खाद्य पदार्थों को लेंगे तो इससे आपको और बच्चे को फायदा होगा.
9. विटामिन सी
विटामिन सी से भरपूर भोजन अवश्य शामिल करें जैसे की खट्टे फल, संतरे, मौसमी, आंवला इत्यादि. संतरा, ब्रोकली, और टमाटर विटामिन सी का अच्छा स्रोत हैं. विटामिन सी के लिए तरबूज, नींबू, संतरा, खट्टे फल, ब्रोकली को डायट में शामिल करना चाहिए.
10. कार्बोहाइड्रेट
गर्भावस्था के दौरान कार्बोहाइड्रेट जरूरी है लेकिन अपने वजन का भी इस दौरान ध्यान रखें. आप कार्बोहाइड्रेट युक्त पदार्थ जैसे आलू, साबुत अनाज, अनाज, मीठे आलू यानी शक्करकंदी, फलियां, पालक, जामुन, तरबूज़ खाएं, पास्ता, स्वीट कॉर्न, बीज, नट्स और जई.
11. मैग्नीशियम
मैग्नीशियम कई खाद्य पदार्थों जैसे बादाम, जई, चोकर, काले सेम, जौ, आटिचोक, कद्दू के बीज, में होता है. आप इन खाद्य पदार्थों को खाकर मैग्नीशियम की कमी को पूरा कर सकते है. ये आपके पैरों की ऐंठन जो सातवें महीने में हो जाती है को कम करता हैं.
12. डीएचए के खाद्य पदार्थ
डीएचए के खाद्य पदार्थ अपने भोजन में शामिल करें. डीएचए एक फैटी एसिड है जो कि बच्चे के दिमाग को ठीक से विकसित करने में अपने में मदद करता है. आप दूध, अंडे और जूस के रूप में खाद्य पदार्थों में डीएचए पा सकते हैं.
13. फाइबर
इस दौरान कब्ज को रोकने के लिए, उच्च फाइबर खाद्य पदार्थों को महिलाएं अपनी आहार में शामिल करें. इसके लिए सब्जियां, फल (ताजा और सूखे), फलियां और साबुत अनाज,मक्का, सफेद सेम, काले सेम, एवाकैडो, गेहूं, पास्ता, भूरा चावल, गेहूं ब्रेड, बंद गोभी, ब्रोकली, पत्तेदार हरी सब्जियां, अजवायन ,फल, साबुत अनाज ब्रेड, अनाज, खजूर आदि खाया जा सकता है.
14. विटामिन ए
गर्भावस्था के दौरान महिलाएं की कमी को दूर करने के लिए इससे युक्त खाद्य पदार्थों का सेवन कर सकते हैं. जिसमें पालक, गाजर, शकरकंद, खरबूजा इत्यादि प्रमुख हैं.

I am having mostly pain in my lower abdominal and my vagina remain mostly moist with slight white discharge.
