I am suffering from sinusitis which is probably caused due to my cough allergy. Whenever there is a change in weather, I catch cold and starts sneezing and coughing. Also, white sticky mucus comes out from my nose while coughing. I get relief from drinking warm water. Whenever I eat something hot or spicy, mucus comes out. I am 24 years old.

Sinuses are paired structures around the nasal cavities. Inflammation of sinuses is called sinusitis and it causes many symptoms like heaviness of head, stuffing of nose, sticky mucus feverishness, congestion etc. Precaution- *. Avoid exposure.to cold * Steam inhalation helps in loosening *.Drinking water frequently will reduce congestion. We have good treatment in Homoeopathy for your problem without adverse effects. If a person suffering from nasal obstruction along with sinusitis and mild to moderate nasal allergies it means most probably he is suffering from dns (deviated nasal septum. Nasal obstruction is because of the deviated portion of the nasal septum (this is the bony partition of the nose cavity. Allergies are because of the hampered muco-ciliary mechanism (normally mucus is produced in the nose to moisten our nose cavity, oral cavity, and help food bolus to move downward, this mucus is basically moves on the cilia of the nasal mucosa) this mechanism gets hampered and mucus start accumulating in the nose and sinus cavity which is why thick mucus comes from nose in patients of nose obstruction and person develops sinusitis. When a surgeon removes the nasal septum deviation has not been removed properly the symptoms persists, and patient thinks that the nose bone has again regrown. It is not because of regrowth but because of half surgery done or due to the non removal of the deviation (reason can be many) nowadays nasal septal deviation can be removed endoscopically. Everything is explained in this, I hope this will benefit you.

When I sleep, my left nostril gets clogged if I sleep on my left side and the right nostril if I sleep on my right side. Is this the start of the sinusitis? what should I do?

M B B S, M. D (Internal Medicine)
General Physician, Nellore
It is a normal phenomenon. It is called nasal cycling. At any given time, we are mostly breathing through one nostril only. You can test yourself at any time. You will find that most of your breathing is through one nostril only. Usually, people do not notice any change except when they are having cold, running nose etc. If the patient has noticed it even when there is no cold, then it probably is first time observation by patient or patient has hypertrophied turbinates. But, it is unlikely to be hypertrophied turbinates since you are saying it has started both sides at the same time. You have merely made an observation of something that has always been happening.

Infections of the middle ear caused by bacteria or viruses can enter the ear and cause the ear to be hot. In other cases, infections of the outer ear that result from excess moisture from swimming or showering, injuries from cleaning the ears or the use of devices such as ear buds or earplugs can cause the ears to feel hot. Hotness of the ears might also result from a sunburn, especially in people with fair skin.

Hi my brother Last week he landed there from india. He asking us if any treatments are available for lymph glands swelling? He is 31 yrs old. We are bit worried. He is unmarried. Pls tell us all positives and negatives on this situation thank you

MS - ENT(Gold Medalist), MBBS
ENT Specialist, Delhi
Lymph node enlargement can be due to many reasons like infective (tubercular/other bacterial infection) and as a part and parcel of tumor in the body (may be of lymph node itself or metastasis from other body organs). There are many diagnostic modalities available to find out the underlying cause like complete blood count, peripheral blood smear, chest xray, ultrasound and very important Fnac (fine needle aspiration cytology) and biopsy. At Least he should get Fnac done and then send the report.

I have sinusitis problem since long. About 8-10 months back I undergone a surgery. Post surgery medication consumed for 45 days (aprx-rs. 10000 medicines) as prescribed by doctor. Hardly after 2 months problem started again. Consulted doctor again. He said I have to use for ever. Alegra-m. Consuming daily. Whenever we miss for 2-3 days, problem effecting severely. is there any permanent solution for this?

Master in Psychology, MD - Ayurveda, Dems, Bachelor of Ayurveda, Medicine and Surgery (BAMS)
Ayurveda,
Yes. Your problem can be cured permanently if you follow ayurveda. But you have to keep patience as the treatment is long. There is no need to take anti allergic daily. Basic need is to boost your immunity.

I am facing a bleed from my nose and am sure it's not HEMORRHAGE. I never have suffered such a bleed and I don't know if it's temporary or will happen again. What tests should I have to undergo and go for provided I have no such a specialist in my near area. Shall I go for treatment if it's dangerous to a great extent or should wait and take some precautions, what; in case; any. It didn't pain at all; I even never knew till a drop of blood fell down. I hope I've provided all facts I know. Thanks in advance.

I hope there is a pathology laboratory in your area. Get your complete blood count done. Also get your platelet count, bleeding time, clotting time, Prothrombin time and INR done. Check your blood group and Rh type too. If your platelet count is low then it may be a cause of such bleeding. You can consult accordingly on Lybrate after getting these reports.

Homeopathic Approach to SINUSITIS
Homeopathic Approach to SINUSITIS-

Homeopathy is strongly indicated in all cases of sinusitis. Homeopathic treatment en routes for rejuvenating one’s immunity towards such attacks. A constitutional homeopathic treatment can completely cure the recurrence of this disease. Homeopathic remedies facilitate drainage of mucus relieving sinus congestion, reduces inflammation in the sinuses, relieve pain and pressure by clearing the infection. It also prevents the formation of scar tissue and avoids permanent damage to the tissues lining the nose and sinuses. The constitutional approach enhances the vitality of the patient and eliminates the entire allergic predisposition hence impeding recurrent infections. Homeopathic treatment is safe and effective for both children and adults. Homeopathy can be an exceptionally successful approach in decreasing susceptibility in acute and chronic infections, as well as in treating the infection itself. The homeopathic constitutional approach always considers the illness in the context of the whole person taking into account the mental, emotional, physical symptoms and the circumstances surrounding their lives. Its purpose is balance and harmony on all levels by enhancing the body’s own defenses. Homeopathic remedies are natural, gentle, safe and easy to take

This may be due to impacted wax. Doing some home remedy may aggravate your pain or may cause damage to ear drum. Ideally you should see your doctor or preferably ENT specialist for direct examination, diagnosis and removal of wax manually or by vacuum extractor.
