I am 23 year old male and have backache for last 2 months. I have used pain relief ointment cream for couple of days but haven't got any relief. What should I do now?

BAMS
Ayurveda, Ambala
First of all check your posture when you are lifting any material like heavy bucket. And try to lift the heavy bucket without bending your back. You may lift the bucket after bending your knees only. This will definitely help you. * gentle massage with lukewarm mustard oil of your waist area will also give you relief. * surya namaskar is only exercise which you need to do. * in diet vegetable protein of cereal, b complex supplements and half teaspoon of haldi in a cup of milk for seven days will give you enough relief.

I am having lateral malleolus fraction and I am in 2nd week when my leg is in cast and this will continue for another two weeks including this. As I can do walk and it rarely pains even when I am resting it pains very less on till the ankle get not touched by anything Please tell how much time it takes to recover and what are the signs of recovery when I can find yes my ankle is fit now.

MSc in Orhopedic Physiotherapy (UK), BPTh/BPT
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
Patients with a fractured lateral malleolus usually make a full recovery with appropriate management (whether surgical or conservative). Return to activity or sport can usually take place in weeks to months and should be guided by the treating physiotherapist and specialist. In patients with severe injuries involving damage to other bones, soft tissue, nerves or blood vessels, recovery time may be significantly prolonged. In patients with only very minor fractures that are un-displaced (such as an avulsion fracture) return to sport can sometimes occur in as little as 6 weeks as guided by the treating physiotherapist.

I am 49 years old, I am suffering with right knee pain with swelling from 2 years, what should I do?

DNB, MBBS
Orthopedist, Delhi
Hello welcome to lybrate. Your knee pain can be due to osteoarthritis, low vitamin d or raised uric acid levels. To start with get the following investigations: x ray both knees ap and lateral views and blood tests fasting: calcium, phosphorous, alkaline phosphatase, vitamin d levels, uric acid and revert back with reports. Learn quadriceps strengthening exercises from a physiotherapist and do then 20 mins 3 times a day. Avoid squatting on the floor or sitting on low chair or indian toilet. Hot fomentation with a rubber bottle will also help.

I have a severe neck and back pain. I am into sales job. So I required to drive a lot by bike. I thought the main cause for the pain is using bike. So I have reduced using bike also nowadays. But my pain still persists so high. Even I am not using pillow while sleeping. So pls suggest me some great ideas or exercises which I need to do regularly and share me some link where I can see the workout models. Also pls suggest whether I can gym or not. Will it increase pain?

Doctor Of Physical Therapy (DPT), Bachelor of Physical Therapy
Physiotherapist, Bangalore
The pain could be due to irriation of discs in neck and back area which is common in bike riders due to tremendous pressure on spine. Before doing any vigorous exs programs consult an orthopaedic doctor who can diagnose it. You can then start backa nd neck stretching exs first. Once pain is in control only then do strengthening exs otherwise muscle tightness can aggravate.

I m feeling pain in my head back side which is now increased a lot till my mid back bone due to stress I felt too much pain and its is happening in my full neck and head till mid back bone.

MBBS
General Physician, Muzaffarpur
You need a mri cervical spine and lumbar spine. Maintain proper posture. Do not lift heavy objects. Change your profession if it gives stress to your back. Avoid riding bike for long. Avoid bending. If you donot get relief then you will require medicines and surgery can also be done for major problem.
