stammering could be due to physical problems like vocal chord problems or due to psychological problems. First consult an ent specialist to make sure it is not the case. Take care.

Actually I have problem with my voice. I can not speck louder in some circumstances. And I am not okay with my voice.

Breathe deeply and exhale on a hisssssssing sound. Repeat 10 times. Proper breathing is the foundation for a healthy voice AND control over nervous energy that can make the voice quiver. Say “Mm-mmm (as in yummy) Mmm-hmm (like yes) ” Repeat 5 times. This develops mask resonance, which creates a clean and vibrant sound by creating a clean approximation of the cords and a resonance that will sound great and project easily. Say “Mm-mmm. Mmm-hmm.” up and down your vocal range, from low to middle to high and back again, 10 times.

Dear sir ,this is habitual problem. Your rate of speech is very fast. I suggest you as a speech therapy when you start the speak take a breath and start the word andyou can do some breathing exercise like puff up exercise ,open mouth inhalation and exhalation. Otherwise you consult with any speech therapist.

Around 1 year age children generally speak few simple words. Communication delays must be addressed at early ages for better results. Speech pathologist can guide you reg. Intensive speech language stimulation. Any neuro motor problems must be ruled out. Seek professional help if there is absolutely no speech development yet.

Speech therapy is a rehabilitation program for the persons who have speaking problems or speech errors. In speech therapy clinician will give therapy as per the problem is concerned. Also its a time taking task. Speech therapy requires time as per the severity of the problem to get it resolved. Cost may be dependent on how you are taking a therapy. I. E. Home visit or you r visit therapist at their workplace. Also the no. Of therapies in a week like twice or thrice as per suggested by the clinician. Basically its time taking process. But there is no other alternative for speech problems except speech therapy. Please visit your nearest slp.

Help you Speech Therapist!!

Master of Speech Language Pathology
Speech Therapist, Bangalore
Its often heard in clinical practice of speech language pathologists and other medical professions about the negative opinions about a/many speech language pathologist (s).

Not many look at the reasons for these disconnections from a service provider and the customer. Most of the efforts to understand this quote two main reasons

Economical constraints and
Unavailability of speech language pathologist (slp).

However, there are more reasons both sides. But its up to you to decide to waste your time reasoning or utilize best the available services.

To the care takers:

He/she is your kid, but not the speech pathologist's - being a parent, your role is central in helping the slp to help you to help your kid.
You need to communicate whats your needs are to the slp. They will tell you if its possible or not. You can ask questions till your doubts are cleared.
Don't be vague in your expectations. It will only hurt you when slp's goals are no way matching your because your slp is working step by step while you are already thinking about the end bypassing the whole process. Ask what can be expected or what is practical.
Slp can not produce results over night, unless he/she is a god or magician.
Each speech pathologist targets the same skills in their own way. Don't impose things by comparing two slps. It can not be measured in mg. In ones comfort zone, efficiency is maximum.
Consistently attend the therapy and then there is chance of improving your understanding about the improvement or reasons if there is no improvements.
Knowledge is good. Share it but not compare.
And more

Note: more suggestions may be updated with feedback.

Bachelor of Audiology & Speech Language Pathology (B.A.S.L.P)
Audiologist,
Nothing is particular cause for stammering, you consult doctor to get medicine but also consult the speech therapist and evaluate your stammering then take continues speech therapy, slow your rate of speech whenever you talking someone, take a small breath to start the words, practice the relaxation and breathing exercises at home. Less your nervousness and freely mixed with your friend but you must take speech therapy, after speech therapy it will be curable.

I have stammering problem. Childhood time I difficulty to speak with others I am also taking speech therapy. Last 1 years But Therapy not effective. Pl give me solution and advise for I continue speech therapy? N recovery is possible.

MD - Psychiatry
Psychiatrist, Chennai
Stammering is typically recognised by a tense struggle to get words out. This makes it different from the normal non-fluency we all experience which includes hesitations and repetitions. Commonly it involves repeating or prolonging sounds or words, or getting stuck without any sound (silent blocking). Sometimes people put in extra sounds or words. Often people lose eye contact. Some people who stammer talk their way round difficult words so that you may not realise they stammer at all. This avoidance of words, and avoidance of speaking in some or many situations, is an important aspect of stammering. Stammering varies tremendously from person to person and is highly variable for the person who stammers who may be fluent one minute and struggling to speak the next. Get an mri brain and eeg with a psychiatrist evaluation.

I have been stuttering for some years now. At times it is just normal but at times it seems to get bad. Pl recommend a homeopathy medicine for the same.

PDDM, MHA, MBBS
General Physician, Nashik
Stammering can be made lesser only and only by speech therapy. So you should take the help of a speech therapist. Also, i'd suggest you to visit a psychologist as confidence plays a great role in dealing with this problem. I'd suggest you to speak very slowly, word by word. People may make fun of this but believe me, slowly you'll get better at it. Hope your query is answered. Wishing you good health.
